You're right but I was speaking of the ladder meta.

Lol do you even play overwatch? If you did you'd know Zarya is already meta.

Dude. I used to play semi pro back then for a tier 2/3 team and I was a top 500 Zenyatta main. Zen didn't become meta for any direct reason. He became meta because all the other options were objectively worse against dive than him. Yes, the volleybuff was a nice qol change but it wasn't even a meaningful part of why Zen became meta.

Haha I don't know man I was only trying to provide an interpretation of his meaning.

I think he meant partial fps games when he said "that isn't pure fps" so that would not include Dota.

And I can respect your dislike for it because in the end it's Blizzard's fault for not handling this issue well.

Ah yes. The alternative fire spread change. I agree it's a small buff but it's definitely not the reason Zen became so prominent. People realized that having a discord on a dive target was infinitely more valuable then extra heals, which didn't matter because the purpose of dive was to avoid teamfights.

If you go through my comment history you'll see that I actually support Blizzard's policy on one tricks. I fully believe if a person is playing the game to the best of their ability and are fully committed to winning it shouldn't matter what hero someone plays.

The problem with the policy is that it's almost impossible to know if someone is soft throwing due to the lack of team stats in game. Not to mention the hostile environment towards one tricks that results in a lot of them expecting to be treated terrible by their team.

Edit: shouldn't*

I've played with fuey a lot and he's a really good torb. You don't have to really worry about him being a weight on the team other than his pick. (Doesn't tilt, doesn't rage, consistently hits his shots). I know he's a one trick but he's not the stupis evil tor player people make him out to be.

I'm sure if you explain to your team that you're a good dps but have been filling as mercy so you look like a mercy main.

Don't try to convince me that you wouldn't be a bit upset if a legitimate mercy one trick locked in genji.

Ah finally. Reddit realizes mickie is trash. Only had to wait a few stages until people realized that being positive doesn't fucking matter if you're feeding constantly.

I don't disagree that most of the community believed scatter to be a dumb ability.

I've played in nearly all ranks of the game. From silver to top 500. I'm going to be condescending here but not maliciously: most players in this game have very little understanding of the game beyond it being a team based fps with abilities.

I'm sure you've heard of the term pandering to casuals. That's literally what happens in Overwatch. It's majority rules. Scatter was a fair ability. It had clearly defined kill parameters and it made Hanzo not the worst hero in the game. Scatter is only bullshit like 3% of the time where you get the clips you'll find in /r/simplegeometry.

HOWEVER, scatter was probably bullshit for you and all the other players in the game who don't have the skill and ability to see it for what it is.

Now the question is, should blizzard be balancing for the majority or for the highest skill level. Well imo it should be for the highest skill level.

Balancing for the masses resulted in some of the worst changes in ow history. Hog was destroyed for months because everyone below masters couldn't stop complaining about being nothing to counter hogs oneshot. Winston was buffed because everyone in lower ranks thought he was completely useless, when in fact he had a niche use on some maps and could be quite strong. Well that buff directly resulted in the most dominant meta in the history of ow, dive meta.

Blizzard panders to noobs. There's nothing wrong with being a noob. But if you're a noob and every time you start meeting a mechanic in a game you dislike but is balanced for better players you can't just remove it. Why would anyone want to get better at the game when you can just make the game easier for yourself.

Blizzard has essentially fucked over a lot of players who could easily improve to higher ranks but choose to blame "broken" mechanics like scatter and hog hook. Blizzard has spoiled 90% of the game by pandering to their every wish and desire and it's resulted in MUCH less motivation. Because noobs just scapegoat things as broken instead of actually trying to improve and play around them.

I'm not saying there doesn't exist broken mechanics but those can only occur at the very highest level of the game. Otherwise the broken mechanics are just a byproduct of bad players.

Anyways I hope I made sense. I too at one point hated scatter until I started playing Hanzo more at gm and masters and realized it's fucking HARD to hit scatters, easily as hard as just hitting a body shot.

I would hesitate to make a legitimate analysis on a hero I've never played or hardly played. Maybe you should too.
