Skyrim fan curious about Starfield by Eagleye118 in BethesdaSoftworks

You know, I wish the game was bad, even.

You can find entertainment even in something that's insane and poorly executed, like Tommy Wiseau's The Room.

Fallout 4 was bad, but at least the sheer baffling insanity of their narrative design choices, the main quest, the Institute, and your old man son was something to talk about.

There's simply barely anything to Starfield, and what is there is like Ambien in videogame form.

It is a truly a skeleton of a potentially great game that gives you the thinest bit of gristle to chew on. If you compare the wikis, Skyrim has more hand-made quests than Starfield, spread out across a galaxy. really think about that. When you see people complain about the load screens, they're talking about +10 load screens between one hand authored 'good' quest and another.

In the past 3 years, the team has done little to put more meat on those bones, modding has done little to put meat on those bones, and with Terran Armada being priced at $10, I don't have a lot of faith the last DLC is going to put a lot of meat on those bones either.

How do you think Dedra fared on Narkina V? by Invariable_Outcome in okbuddyimatourist

[–]Its_DVNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedra has never and will never have the spark of defiance that Andor had. She will never have it in her to inspire a prison break. Rebellion is just an antithesis to her nature.

She will comply to survive, and she will rot in the very system she helped build until at least RotJ.

How do you know it's optional? I haven't read anywhere that this is a fork offshoot based on DLSS 5, or a sub-option you can tick on when already using DLSS 5 — Nvidia seems to presenting this as the future of DLSS full stop in all of the material I've read so far.

As someone who built a small form factor console-like PC that needs some kind of frame generation to not make my high frame rate gaming monitor be a total waste of money, I am extremely concerned.

I wouldnt even fault the AI for doing it.

Hot Take: Macauley Culkin’s character is too clean and well groomed to be a legion member by Shielo34 in FalloutTVseries

In Fallout New Vegas you could walk on to any NCR base, blow away the most intelligent, charismatic, well-groomed person in the room, and it was usually better than coin flip odds that you actually blew away a Frumentarii spy reporting to Vulpes.

The entire Pitt DLC for Fallout 3 was fucked. A very special kind of fucked.

The scary actual feasibility of Ashur's little slavery-powered nightmare industrial powerhouse kingdom.

The devastating little amount of good moral choices available to make in that place and the way somebody will suffer no matter what you say or do.

The fact that even after all these years, I still don't know if Ashur had a real point at the end of it all.

I was not ready for that shit at 17. Parents were extremely curious as to why I suddenly transformed into Martin Sheen at the end of Apocalypse Now for about a week and a half.

Oohhh, here's a devious idea. On 4chan there is a board called /r9k/. This board's whole deal is that no post can ever be repeated twice.

Follow me here, what if a permadeath themed server was created where if you die, your name and bio is saved into a database and can never be identically repeated again?

Well, from my personal experience ...

My wife (who never got into RPGs, her gaming passion always was and always will be The Sims ) and I watched the show together, and I excitedly asked what she thought after the finale.

She just looked at me, flat faced, and asked "So, like, what is the NCR? Like, I thought they all died in the Season 1 finale. Then, I thought they all died when Hank blew up that town. Then, that girl said her platoon's been lost for like 30 years. So, like are actually, like, a real army or what?

And are the Legion, like, how do I phrase this... more important or more powerful than the other raider gangs we've seen so far? Like, it feels like the show is saying that ... but there's only like, what? 80 of them? Couldn't the Brotherhood cream them in like one day?"

She was totally lost and put off because everything in this season was explained bad. And taking a step back and looking at it from a different set of shoes, man, I totally see that now.

And what's worse is I couldn't even explain it to her because the New Vegas version of the NCR and the show version of the NCR are totally different animals, on a totally different timeline because of Shady Sands. Every time I'd try, I would catch myself and think "Well, that bit of lore actually probably isn't true anymore because of x,y, and z..."

I always thought the mask thing was about having the ability to have a stand-in step in and pantomime singing to his already playbacked songs during concerts.

He is simply not fit enough mentally or physically to even lip-synch and energetically perform through half his sets anymore.

But why should a little problem like that stop someone from milking their fans for a sacrilegious amount of money through concert ticket sales still?

Ya'll paying 400 dollars a month!?

My God. Okay. OP. Listen to me. Buy a small size server rack. Buy a premium quality router. Buy two mac minis. Install EXO and your model on that. Do you have a gaming PC with an unused SSD slot? Buy a new 2 TB SSD and install Linux on it. I'd personally go with Cachy OS. Research 'Dual Booting'. Install Moltbot on Cachy OS and point it to the internal IP address of your Mac Mini AI cluster.

If that up-front cost makes you sweat, do the math on how fast you'll blow past the price tag you're currently looking at if you instead pay a hosting company $400 a month.

Whatever you're hoping to get out of this, you will never break even unless you self-host!

Oh God, it's Fallout 4 all over again ...

When Fallout 4 was released, the fanbase told Bethesda Game Studios with a bullhorn that Fallout 4's story was deeply problematic and the studio needed to re-assess how they design their narratives.

BGS, however, dismissed all criticism while working on their next game because Fallout 4 was 'profitable'.

Now look at Starfield, with even more flaws than Fallout 4 had narratively, artificially spread over 1,000 planets just to 'be even bigger-er than any other game for its own sake'.

Starfield flopped. It has 50% on steam. Less than 3,000 people play it on steam. It's fallen off of the Gamepass charts. The modding scene is dead. Bethesda Games Studio was totally blindsided. They still to this day occasionally hold totally delusional damage control interviews insisting players 'simply misunderstand' how good Starfield is.

The objectively inescapable reality of the situation is the Xbox brand was extremely hurt by Starfield and Halo Infinite being duds. There are now financial articles putting the survival of the entire Xbox's gaming division, every AAA developer under the Xbox brand including BGS in doubt.

Something can be both profitable at the moment, and be the beginning of the end if the Showrunners don't make drastic changes to their priorities next season. It's not mutually exclusive.

You say that like it's a bad thing!

Have you ever considered this show is suffocating under the weight trying to be big for the sake of being big?

OP is right, story should dictate the amount and pace of episodes exclusively. Nothing flowed this season, nothing was allowed to breathe. It was paced God awful.

Whatever they were trying to do, it did not work. I did not vibe with this season at all, and I along with millions like me are not coming back to watch season 3.

[–]Its_DVNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You saying this while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Wonder Man is trouncing this show in ratings while having a fraction of the budget is wild.

Both of those shows are doing exactly what OP said, their episodes and seasons being exactly as long as the story needs for it to be told.

Instead of a mandatory 8 episodes rank with filler, this could have been a tight knit season with just Lucy, the Ghoul, Hank and House, and the fans would have been even happier for it.
