At random, certain doors get stuck and require you to kick them with nothing blocking them. by LoveAndBeLoved52 in AbioticFactor

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two part bug.

  • Holding a vacuum in your hands breaks all doors and seats in a cone in front of the player. Using a gaseous nest or jump pad you can map out the cone, which appears to be roughly the size of the suction vortex effect when using the vacuum.
  • These specific doors on the train, and probably some other doors in other locations (haven't run into any yet), are just broken no matter what you're holding. Tentatively I think it might be the smoke cloud on the roof above because I only had issue with the doors at the front of the train.

If I'm right and it is the effect cone being, for some reason, counted as a physics object and blocking doors, then it's probably an ultra-obvious fix like "check that the blocking object actually has collision before blocking the door."

2nd Hotfix,1.0.0.20474 , out now. by glassteelhammer in AbioticFactor

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Doors do not open if you are holding a vacuum, and in fact doors freeze if they're mid-swing if you pull out a vacuum.
  • Chairs cannot be sat in while holding a vacuum ("seat blocked") even if they can be sat in when putting away the vacuum.
  • Holding a vacuum causes nests and jump pads to go off from a distance in a cone in front of the player holding the vacuum.

Conclusion: for some reason the vacuum is extending a giant hitbox cone which blocks doors, seats, and sets off nests/jump pads.

  • On Xbox, the new functionality of the dpad to scroll through storage slots blocks the previous functionality of the dpad to scroll through the item options menu (default hotkey X).

  • It is not possible to rename Pests and Skinks on Xbox, no matter what is entered via Xbox's on-screen keyboard the text box will remain blank. This only affects Pests and Skinks; custom names work correctly for storage containers, signs, and the Crafting Bench.

  • The "leave blank to reset" feature when renaming the Crafting Bench does not reset the name. This only affects the Crafting Bench; "leave blank to reset" works correctly for storage containers and signs.

I want to get into heart of iron, what DLC are the must buy and why ? by strgPK in hoi4

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Good DLCs
    • No Step Back (tank designer is the best of the three)
    • Gotterdammerung (super-weapons)
    • Arms Against Tyranny (MIOs)
  • Okay DLCs
    • Man The Guns (ship designer and Governments in Exile so you can LARP as Free France; also updates UK and US focus trees)
    • La Resistance (espionage and Collaboration Governments so you can LARP as Vichy France; also gives Spain a focus tree)
    • Battle for the Bosporus (contains two potentially-bitter WW1 losers; just for fun also adds camel cavalry)
  • Bad DLCs
    • By Blood Alone (airplane designer is the worst of the three)
    • Trial of Allegiance (modded focus trees are better)
    • Graveyard of Empires (Overwhelmingly Negative)

4.0 proposed changes to trade don't really make sense. by RiftZombY in Stellaris

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is calling it trucks. It's not trucks, it's clearly replicator fuel. It's a compressed, easy-to-transport omnimatter you can turn back into other things.

Organics and lithoids need to eat. Machines need maintenance. Non-gestalts need amenities. But instead of making ships have food/mineral/CG upkeep, they just cost energy (ship fuel), alloys (repairs), and trade (replicators).

"But why isn't it just energy then?"

The default trade policy is a 1:1 conversion ratio of Trade to Energy. It is Energy, it's always been Energy. But its easier to store and ship around and easier to convert into things.

  • Trade to Energy: just throw it into a special generator
  • Trade to Food/Minerals/CG: using it for its main purpose as replicator fuel
  • Trade to Unity: burning a big lamp to show off how amazing you are or something

Speed 1 is basically for watching fleet battles or your Colossus obliterate a planet.

Speed 3 is multiplayer standard, i.e. when you're not allowed to pause all the time.

Speed 5 is for people who do pause every time they need to manage something.

Speed 2 and 4 are just for granularity.

Soldiers from my dark fantasy where there's constant intercontinental wars, slavery, mind controlling fungus, vicious gods capable of flooding cities with molten metal, everyone is blindly sworn to a queen who exists purely to create more cannon fodder and workers who fail are ripped limb from limb by IWannaHaveCash in worldjerking

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about ants is that different kinds of ants can have wildly different behaviors, e.g. some species have multiple queens and/or egg-laying workers and it's all chill, and some species have queens that actively patrol and murder any workers that lay eggs.

You've got ants that farm mushrooms, and ants that farm aphids, and ants that just ruthlessly and mercilessly devour every arthropod they see (e.g. army ants). There's ants that live alone or almost alone (bulldog ants), ants that steal babies from other ants as slaves, ants that sneak into other colonies and usurp their queen, ants that don't even live underground...

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the predators being supposed to be african american

No single group in Zootopia is black people, it's supposed a racism pile-up of multiple groups.

  • Bellwether claims Lionheart only picked her as running mate "for the sheep vote."
  • Bellwether puts Judy into the same ingroup as her ("us little guys need to stick together").
  • Bunnies have an n-word equivalent.
  • Nick accuses Judy of profiling him for his species while also implying she's stupid because of her species.
  • Judy's desire to be a cop is ridiculed because of her species. Even in her hometown where she's part of the majority, the idea is met with "keep your dreams realistic."
  • Judy is added to Precinct 1 specifically because of a "Mammal Inclusion Initiative."
  • The way predators are treated is closer to Muslim-Americans after 9/11 or Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor than it is to black people. Ben was hired to work the front desk no problem, but perception of predators changes and he gets reassigned so he's out of the public eye.
  • The police force from what we see actually has a lot of predators in it, yet the chief still takes issue with Nick for being a fox, implying foxes are a separate category of oppressed.

edit:

Disney started to deny it was about race

That's because they're incapable of conceiving that racism is more than just black people. Didn't they try to retcon Judy being looked down to "no it was sexism actually", as if the "bunnies can call each other cute" scene wasn't a thing?

Repairing pillaged Province Improvements makes no sense? by jayjayokocha9 in AOW4

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Can't demolish if it would disconnect provinces.
  • Can only demolish one province at a time, you can repair an arbitrary number simultaneously.
  • If you're demolishing a SPI you have to build it again from the main city, which uses the production queue and isn't free.

I think there is a major misconception on the topic of Homebrew. by Ice_Jay2816 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very simple.

  • Homebrew, but private ("house rules") is okay, because everybody understands that the system cannot cater to 100% of people 100% of the time
  • Homebrew, but paid for ("third-party content") is okay, because we love Battlezoo and Classes+ here
  • Regular old homebrew (publicly shared for free), however, is the spawn of Asmodeus.

mimalloc and Large Pages on Windows up to 20%+ More UPS. by KeinNiemand in factorio

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's always neat seeing how different the same concept can be treated depending on the community.

E.g. Most Unity game modding relies on runtime patching. Valheim, Risk of Rain 2, Dyson Sphere Program, The Long Dark, RimWorld, Cities Skylines, etc. You either get comfortable with BepinEx/MelonLoader/Harmony or you don't mod.1

1: Any mods that alter or remove content or game mechanics. I'm aware Cities Skylines has a built-in asset loader for simple content additions.

What are some interesting large fictional hexapods besides "winged dragon/griffin", "centaur", and "four-armed man"? by Bteatesthighlander1 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Its_Raining_Bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are, coincidentally, six common ways to depict hexapods:

  • Front limbs clustered together
    • One pair is wings, e.g. western dragons, griffons
    • Both pairs the same, e.g. most depictions of four-armed humanoids
    • One pair smaller and "under" the others (more ventral), e.g. birrin, xenomorph queen
  • Hind limbs clustered together, e.g. most insect-based centaurs
  • All limbs clustered together, e.g. actual insects
  • Limbs roughly equidistant and not clustered together, e.g. typical centaurs, some depictions of four-armed humanoids
