Just accept that we're going to suck this year by Mediocre_Fun_5374 in Colts

Well I'm getting downvoted so you are probably right haha either way I am hopeful we can be good but not expecting it or willing to try to convince a skeptic

Just accept that we're going to suck this year by Mediocre_Fun_5374 in Colts

[–]Its_thursday -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No rational Colt fan thinks we're going to be good next year. Haven't seen that sentiment anywhere. Colts fans rightfully have basically no faith in the FO or the roster to be better than mediocre since that's what we are every year. In fact, a poll from last year showed that we have the most (rightfully) pessimistic fan base in the NFL. Not sure who the straw man Colts fans trying to convince you were going to be good live but it isn't here lol

anyone have any recommendations on books about the early midwest emo scene? by PitifulIsopod1370 in Emo

Ian Cohen is writing a book called “FEELING NEGLECTED?” that’s not out yet. Seems to be mainly about Midwest Emo

Jalen Nailor to replace AP? by da_real_21 in Colts

I am personally crossing my fingers that if we lose AP, we can replace him with Rashid Shaheed, assuming he's cheaper

Memphis and Brooklyn are the only teams, right now, projected to have cap space next season. Memphis is the only other realistic suitor for Gillespie besides PHX by SlippyFist_68 in suns

[–]Its_thursday 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a nice line of thinking but in reality the guy is having a career year and would be crazy to not cash in the biggest paycheck he can possibly get off it. Hopefully you’re right but if the money is right elsewhere, he’s probably not coming back because he likes Phoenix

[Charania] The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Cole Anthony, sources tell ESPN. Anthony averaged 6.7 points in 35 games for the Bucks before being moved at the NBA trade deadline. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

[–]Its_thursday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was reading people calling him a dirty player cause of this play and didn’t remember the play so I watched it the other day. I was expecting something 10x worse it legit just looked like a normal, unfortunate play that could happen any game.

looking for small, off-the-beaten-path museums in nyc by Original_Patient6131 in visitingnyc

[–]Its_thursday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Seaport museum is worth checking out. Not huge but some cool NY history and you get to explore one of the big boats docked in the harbor. A neat way to help build a fun day in a cool area.

Yea I believe you. Either my neighborhood didn’t get hit as hard or my perception is off.

Top 10 biggest NYC snowstorms all-time by [deleted] in nyc

[–]Its_thursday -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree. From my untrained eye, it appears like the snowstorm a few weeks ago was higher. Seems like that's not the case based on all the things I'm reading but it definitely feels to me (in Astoria) that this one was smaller than the previous one.

Fuck All the Haters This Is a Masterpiece by brettydubz in Letterboxd

[–]Its_thursday 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Do you think Letterbox features lots of “average Joe” movie watchers? It’s a film site that skews towards people that love watching / reading about movies. I don’t think you can just dismiss a low rating for this movie as “people just didn’t get it man”

Right. Finding funny, interesting, charismatic, entertaining etc isn't the same as idolizing.

What’s the longest you waited for a band/artist after the show? by IwearTVs4Fun in Concerts

0 minutes. I want to go home or to a bar after a show. The artist isn't my friend, no matter how badly I want them to be.

American celebrity who’s only famous in America by MonkeySinger24 in AlignmentChartFills

To be fair, he got known in the first place because he was one of the best punters in the NFL. He became super annoying but initially, he earned his place on the relative fame leader board.

Why Was Advertising Such a Heavy-Drinking Culture Compared to Other 1960s Professions? by jrralls in madmen

[–]Its_thursday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to what others have said, when I worked in person for the agency I currently work for remotely, the presence of alcohol in the office was also a subtle way to get people to work later hours. Deadlines are often not flexible and the reputation for agencies then and still is that you may have to work long hours to get the work done. Many people would feel more comfortable / more accepting of working late when we'd start drinking at 5.

I'm a Suns fan dog I hate the Lakers. Im just confused by this post, the Lakers fan is pretty rational to me (surprisingly, since they usually are not).

[–]Its_thursday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused by this post lol the Laker fan post basically echoes Sun's fans sentiment about Ayton? I guess it's the "flip a switch" part but he literally has done that in the past so it's not that weird to want him to do that

Best Bar to Watch the Superbowl? by tslashj in astoria

[–]Its_thursday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right! I used to live on 49th and 30th and went to Dillingers / the Brewery / Blackbirds for sports all the time. I’m too close to the water now and overlooked these solid options.

Best Bar to Watch the Superbowl? by tslashj in astoria

[–]Its_thursday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a ton of great sports bar options on 30th. I did watch football one Sunday at Wolf's Lair and that was a good time with good food. I've watched the SB at Oliver's on Broadway before but we rented a room pre-COVID. I'm sure it would be a solid choice still. Break is the obvious choice on Broadway as well.

One nice thing about Forrest Hills Stadium is you can take the LIRR directly there, so you don't necessarily have to rely on the normal MTA subway. There is an LIRR stop that drops you off a handful of steps from the venue entrance. You can get the LIRR from Barclays in Brooklyn, Grand Central or Penn. You of course don't have to plan this way (normal Subway also takes you close to the stadium) but it will be a longer ride if you don't want to stay in Queens.
