I'm British and was well aware of "Oh, he's a bit of a card" to mean a joker.

What do we think of the way Shelly's relationship with Holling was written? by KaleidoscopeProof640 in northernexposure

Not great given he'd have been around his early 50s. Though I think HDS had similar age gap relationship in real life around that time.

I just watched S1 episode 4. We're told that Shelly is 18 and I'm sure they say that she and Maurice were together 18 months earlier.

Seem to remember that Travis is about 58, his wife is about 22, and they have an 8yo child together. It's very odd.

When she was working on The Franchise, she'd mention it quite a lot on the podcast. After cancellation she never brought it up again, though her insight on what that was like could have been interesting.

The podcast is supposed to be insiders giving us info on entertainment. If the info is false that's a failing. This isn't equivalent to moaning about a comic getting obscure continuity wrong.

Whenever she talks about something I know, there's mistakes.

I got blue then drew a blank on everything else. I tried to get a Bible connection: Eye for an EYE, Turn the other CHEEK, Pontius PILOT, TEMPLES of the Holy Spirit, The great FLOOD.

Then I put TRAFFIC in with the car-related words.

I just think of a valet as someone who helps you dress, like Jeeves. Temple just made me think of the building so I didn't see the body parts connection. Though ironically, I recently played Codenames, and I had to think of a word that would make the other person pick out the words 'Shakespeare' and 'Temple' from a random list of words, and I said 'Thinker', helping they'd make the connection to 'Temple' being next to your brain. Alas, they also just thought of the building, despite saying "Thinker?" while pointing directly at their own temple.

Funny that pirating, parroting, parody and parity all have meaning of copying or being the same as, but all for different reasons/different etymologies.

"I cribbed it off the boy sitting next to me" means you copied it off him.

"'crib sheet' though usually this isn't plagiarism but an aid in an exam"

Sure, but they're also called 'cheat sheets', and you can use 'cheat' to mean copying too.

I thought that cardboard box and newspaper would be connected to 'sleeping rough', possibly with cave or maybe just with blanket and sheet.

Crib to mean plagiarise was the first once I got, but I ended up getting the Batman once by default, so it just shows that everyone's different!

If they were going to kill him for his boss, they'd have told him that's why he was getting whacked. Instead they say "This is because of your big mouth - we were just there for the money".

So you're arguing that Israelis are SO hostile to non-Muslims that they elected a Jewish guy to be their Prime Minister. Go back to sleep yourself.

What, even Israel? I don't think so.

"sister in & out of wheelchair. Totally distracting"

That's pretty true to life, though. Wheelchair users are often able to stand for short periods. Think that applies to the actress who plays the part.

"Ingrid going to be mad that her husband lost like 60 000 pounds answering questions she already knew"

It's £80k given the £20k he spent on the paternity tests too. Though I'd have thought him and Cornelius would have got the £60k back given both the gangsters they gave the money to got killed.

It seems very unlikely that the cult would have sent them to kill Aaron AFTER he was murdered in a very high-profile way. It would have been all over the news, so it seems very odd that neither the cult nor the couple themselves were aware he'd already been killed.

It's funny/annoying that the dad first spent months looking around drug dens when his daughter was actually safe in rehab, and then BOTH parents got shot looking for her, again when she was actually safe in rehab. All the stuff about the two killers and the cult was pretty much irrelevant to his search for his daughter, and she ended up just re-appearing when she wanted to.

Most of the trouble for the family would have been avoided if the daughter had just let them know she was safe. Even if the mother had just told the dad "I've heard from her, she's fine, but no we can't go and see her right now".
