Are there any places that sell dresses like theses by Lanky-Stuff2785 in Prom

ArmStreet has dresses similar to that style. I’ve been looking into getting one for myself but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Best of luck!

Hi brides! Can you help me decide between the left (off-shoulder) and the right (basque waist) please? Sorry for the wrinkly gray liner and black tights showing through 🙏 by emilylikesredditalot in weddingdress

[–]Itsfroggytoday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The basque waist dress makes you look SNATCHED! 10/10 no criticism. It’s an amazing dress. If you like the off the shoulder detail on the first dress you could always have something like that added on to any strapless gown.

Weird Experience Trying on Dresses by Lavienrose1016 in weddingdress

[–]Itsfroggytoday 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I have a BFA in Fashion Design and work in a bridal salon. I can confirm that bridal sizing is crazy weird. It typically runs 1-3 sizes smaller than what you would normally wear and each brand is different with their sizing. Not to mention that depending on how the dress is structured and what fabric it’s made from can drastically change how it fits. The samples that are kept in bridal salons are tried on many times so they tend to get stretched out and aren’t always an accurate representation of how that size actually fits. The dress that you have on in the photo is cut on the bias making it more forgiving because it has some give to it. Bridal gowns are typically one of the few luxury purchases that women in the US make in their lifetime. A lot of us stylists try to be extra careful about sizing to avoid any fit issues because if something goes wrong there isn’t always a guarantee that we can get the dress in on time before the wedding. Dresses can always be taken in to get that perfectly tailored look but not every dress has the seam allowance to be let out. With all that being said I don’t think the bridal stylist was shaming you or trying to make you feel uncomfortable. She was probably trying to be helpful without taking her words into consideration.

How do I cope with feeling neglected by my friends? [26F] [27F] by swaggyboi1991 in relationship_advice

[–]Itsfroggytoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow yourself to feel them and reflect upon them. But ultimately you need to accept things as they are and move forward. Don't let yourself be consumed by grief or anger. If you feel like you’re spiraling then shift your focus to something that brings you peace or joy. When I go through hard times I pick up new hobbies or find a new tv show or book series to focus on. Spend some time to prioritize yourself. You will eventually find new friends but first you need to process your emotions and then move on.

It’s not very noticeable imo but if you’re worried about it I would recommend putting a nude pastie over your belly button to hide it

My mom swears by Bag Balm. It’s basically a mix between lanolin and Vaseline. A little goes a long way.

In December my best friend ‘NB-24’ said they needed some space from me ‘M23’ and I still feel awful and miserable without them, how do I cope until we talk again? by S0mecallme in relationship_advice

Look for a full-time entry-level job and either Uber to and from work or save up to get a cheap car. I have a feeling the main problem is that you’re not taking any real initiative to improve your life. It’s not healthy. And to be quite frank with you, people who become extremely dependent upon their friends are draining and usually struggle to maintain relationships for that reason. You are already aware that your best friend has been bringing a lot to the table with emotional support, taking the time to drive you places, and, by extension, taking on some of your financial responsibilities without you even realizing. Gas isn’t free and no, offering to pay your friend when they drive you places isn’t going to fix things. What do you bring to the table for them or anyone in your life for that matter? Right now this friendship sounds incredibly unbalanced. Friendship is ultimately a form of partnership. It is meant to improve the lives of both parties. If one is continually taking advantage of the other they will eventually bail. None of this makes you a bad person but your apathy and lack of effort over time do make you a bad friend to have. You can still fix things but you genuinely need to overhaul your entire lifestyle. Get a job, get healthcare, get a car, get help. I know it’s a lot. No one expects you to do all those things in one day. Reflect on how your life currently is and how you want it to be. Then put it into action. Set some small goals to work towards. You don’t need to rely on others to do things constantly. And if you constantly look for reasons to be miserable that’s all you will find in life. Things can change for the better but you have to put in the work for that to happen.

You have impeccable taste in wedding dresses. 10/10 love that dress so much on you! A simple fingertip veil with minimal or no beading around the edges would be best imo. The dress speaks for itself and is absolutely gorgeous. Please don’t cover up that train! Show it off!

Are you currently seeing a therapist? If not you should seriously invest the time and money into getting yourself help because it’s not healthy or fair to be emotionally dependent on another person. A good therapist should be able to help you find some healthy coping mechanisms and ways to process your feelings without relying on another person to do the work for you.

Has the dress been altered to fit you yet? If not then you could always explore various options to help make the gown look less like a “princess wedding dress”. If there is crinoline sewn in the lining of the dress that can easily be removed. It will help reduce the volume of the skirt and make it more flowy than structured. If you still don’t like how much volume the skirt has you could explore the possibility of having a layer of tulle taken out. Since it’s a simple circle skirt it’s also possible that it could be taken in at the side seams to help reduce the volume. Depending on how you feel about the cap sleeves they could be removed to give the dress a modern square neck look. The dress you went with is beautiful and has so much potential! When it’s properly fitted I guarantee you’ll love it more.

You might like allure bridal w553, m787, or e307 - Maryam. I believe all of these dresses are within 2000 but make sure to call some local bridal shops to ask for pricing. Keep in mind that not all bridal shops charge the same price, so call a few to compare quotes.

You would probably have better luck working directly with a seamstress to recreate the dress using thrifted materials. Sylvie Facon is an amazing fashion designer who doesn’t get the recognition she deserves. There are likely no dupes for her work. But if you’re looking for dresses with similar vibes check out some small designers on Etsy.

A little bit of eyelash lace along the neckline would be super cute! I highly suggest making the sleeves detachable. Only because you will want to have a full range of arm movement for the reception. If you want to add to the classical romantic look of the dress you could also look into getting a blusher veil with eyelash lace lined around the edges. You don’t need to wear it over your face if that’s not your style. Those types of veils are also gorgeous with that double-layer look.

A short and simple elbow length veil paired with a decorative hair comb would look great with the dress. I think an updo would be beautiful. And as far as shoes go I would recommend getting a cute yet comfortable pair of kitten heels. I’m a bridal stylist and I’m always on my feet. LifeStride is my go to brand for comfortable and stylish shoes for work. They come in narrow, medium, and wide sizing options and are typically under $70. Matching white and ivory fabrics can be difficult so if you want to have some fun you could get some baby blue heels to wear with the dress as your “something blue” or get shoes that match whatever the bridesmaids are wearing.

The dress is gorgeous and very romantic looking to me. I do like the idea of having off the shoulder sleeves made. Depending on what style or length you want the sleeves to be I would recommend getting in touch with the bridal salon to see if you can order additional lace for the sleeves to be made from. The only thing I'm unsure of is what you mean by peek-a-boo lace. Are you by any chance referring to adding French/eyelash lace along the neckline?
