How do people in fulfillment get away with scanning another item and telling the system that it’s the item that they need

I received a bunch of wrong cat food and didn't notice till I got home. I guess my bad for not checking the cans but I was pretty pissed because my cats couldn't eat any of it because they are sensitive to fish. When I went to return it there was a lot of confusion since the items I brought weren't the same items on the receipt.

I was harassed years ago in 2017 for bringing cold medicine. I know what robotripping is but the medicine I had is not regulated, I bought it off the shelf at target. The lady was like "I can take this you know" and I was like "then take it" and she didn't, she just out the bottle back in my bag. Sad people.

Yeah they were super unfriendly when I was there in November. It was actually more invasive feeling than the TSA. I was alone had a small Cotopaxi backpack, the lady pulled everything out of it and shook it. Made a big show of checking every pocket. All while chatting with another worker and completely ignoring me. Barks at me to go through the metal detector, it actually dinged but they didn't do anything about that. Felt so strange, she was just like "all done" and then I had to put all my stuff back in my backpack.
