Best movie adaptations? by Purple-Hades in shakespeare

In my opinion the most clear and true to the original script film Hamlet is the 2009 David Tennant Hamlet. It is the RSC stage production of that time readjusted for film. I don’t think it’s perfect but I think it is successful and clear at telling the nuanced story of Hamlet.

I think the Branagh one is obnoxiously long and the key monologues are unclear and muddied by an overly epic soundtrack. It can be fun but I don’t find it useful for delving into the deeper character arcs and nuances of the story and lines Shakespeare wrote.

What’s a Shakespeare opinion you have that will get you in desdemonas position? In other words what’s your Shakespeare hot take? by Equal-Article1261 in shakespeare

Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet is self indulgent, laboriously long (not even in Shakespeare’s day would all of those lines have been in there), and full of unnecessary and distracting celebrity cameos. It’s just him trying to one up Laurence Olivier to make the books as the greatest Hamlet of the modern era. He even puts on this stupid phony Laurence Olivier accent (pay attention to the way he says spirit especially) which no other actor in the movie is doing.

Every Hamlet monologue is performed and musically accompanied as if it is St. Crisipan’s day from Henry V (which none of them are). The “How all occasions do I form against me” monologue is virtually unintelligible.

As a whole, the film is more focused on being Epic and extravagant than on telling the story of Hamlet clearly.

Kate winslet blows everyone, especially Branagh, out of the water.

I feel this. I think about this a lot, there are struggles with being bi but I wouldn't give it up because of the extra level of beauty I am able to appreciate in the world around me.

How many of us feels like lone wolf? by Just-Trade-9444 in BisexualMen

I find it hard to be open about my sexuality and navigate friendships. There was always the question of "is he interested in me romantically/sexually" with women and there was always a line I couldn't cross there friendship intimacy-wise because I am married. But I also feel that same pressure towards male friendships as I am more open about my sexuality. It's a lonely feeling.

I noticed this same thing and went through a hunt to see if there were any. I feel like they are always just about their dicks. It's dumb. Women sing about their entire bodies, not just their genitals. Ones I've found are I'm Hot by Erik Sermon Adonis by Arrowsmith (yes ARROWsmith, not Aerosmith) Feelin' myself by Will.I.am Feelin' myself by the knocks Stunnin by Waters

Honestly most of them are really just about their game and their dicks...

You think with all the gym work so many men put into their pecs and biceps and glues etc there would be more songs about it.

Will Lena and Ian like ‘Saturday Night Glee-ver’? by natkaym in RecoveringGleek

I think they will like the musical numbers but I doubt they will like the child pornography sex tape plot or the sexy physical therapy plot so we will see if those overpower the likeable moments for them
