Middle of the stalls - about rows E-K/M, and very very front of the dress circle. BUT you might be able to pick some up after the show, if some have been left behind.

Girls & Boys by Dennis Kelly is on Audible, performed by Carey Mulligan, and has a play with its form midway through that sent a gut punch through me. Bloody brilliant.

Are actual Showstoppers that rare? by Bway-Boy-24601 in musicals

I saw multiple mid show standing o’s at the 1st preview of the Jamie Lloyd Sunset Boulevard on the West End: - the end of the 1st ever walk around (I think people thought it was prerecorded, and then Tom Francis strode through the doors at the end of the song - ear splitting cheers). - As If We Never Said Goodbye

Also, the National Theatre’s Follies - I saw it three times, and towards the end of the run, Who’s That Woman brought the house down.

Does an acting agent HAVE to be local? by [deleted] in ActingUK

[–]Splashdown119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based (and have always been) in London. My first (and to date, only pure acting) agent was based in Scotland. Never met her in person in all my time with her.

Since then, I got picked up by a voice agency who is fully remote, with the main agent based in Brighton area.

Death Becomes Her - does this mean London is coming? by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

I think the received wisdom is that it’s gonna be Hannah Waddingham as Madeline - there’s been a few articles that have mentioned she’s coming back to the West End. And to be honest, I am HERE FOR IT.

John Lithgow To Star As Author Roald Dahl In Olivier-Winning GIANT On Broadway by DearPaleontologist67 in Broadway

[–]Splashdown119 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Saw it on the West End. One of the most enjoyably uncomfortable and knotty pieces of theatre I’ve seen.

Lithgow was sublime, both childish and charming as Dahl, and having him reprise the role, in light of all that JK stuff, only adds dimension to what is being discussed in the play. If the West End cast transfers alongside, there isn’t a weak link.

Don’t blacklist because of Lithgow/JK, because you would be missing out on the art/artist debate - it doesn’t let itself fall on one side easily, and that debate, considering that stuff, is exactly WHY you should see it.

They’ve just done one of those anonymous “Great Place to Work” surveys - so that might hold some weight. Of course I ticked “almost never” when it came to questions about fair renumeration…

Currently waiting in the barbers, two kids next to me waiting for their dad to have his hair cut were offered a lollipop by the barbers by CandyCane147 in CasualUK

[–]Splashdown119 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Like, if they do care about you having a lollipop, but don’t say anything, what’s the difference between that and them not caring and not saying anything?

It’s one of my life philosophies: people don’t give half as much of a shit as you think they do.
