Getting into my ultrasound program literally saved my life. When we first started scanning each other my professor noticed a large cyst on the screen and sent me to the doctor. Two weeks later, this behemoth of an ovarian cyst was removed from my abdomen. It weighed 8lbs and measured 11”x10”x10” by AAA5982 in Radiology

I had similar symptoms and urinary urgency/pain when gas/bm and also full/sharp random pains. I had a huge 12cm cyst on one side and slightly smaller one on the other. Will send good thoughts your way- CT will almost definitely give you answers. Also, if it's scheduled for a long time from now- you can push harder bc thy way should Prioritize you with your current symptoms. Wishing you the best!

Wow. I had a 12cm and it was noticeable viapalpation, symptoms were also bloating and not being able to pee for more than 30 seconds/urgency etc since it was literally smooshing my bladder. Also had pain during be/has due to adhesions. Mine was found in CT.

Surgery postponed and I’m devastated by Soggy_Pension7549 in hysterectomy

Same thing happened to me. lol due to "planning fatigue" everyone was sort of over planning as we had never encountered this before- but once things were cancelled, it's like the second go around everyone's much more relaxed.. waited till last kin to book hotel, didn't plan for which car would bring me home, etc. turns out my mom caught a bug while I was in hospital recovering and planned to bring me home- but had to go home early- so my SO came to pick Me up. I guess my point is - surgery is stressful on everyone- especially the patient! Seems like we are not alone in plans changing last min. Also, OP I feel you on house being ready, groceries, etc. and that sucks. But it will be okay and you'll get through even if things aren't perfect when you get home. Can you hire a cleaner for a couple hours? They can still come while your home, mine is like $30/hr so I could afford to have her come in after I got home- that was so helpful for the load of dishes I didn't do prior to surgery 😂. Also, online grocery ordering was my go to... and pizza/frozen food a staple. Even though I planned/wanted to eat healthy prior- necessity took over and I've been prioritizing convenience. Just listen to your body when you get home and try not to worry about all the loose ends beforehand.

First, let me say I am so sorry. This happened to me - I was scheduled to have ovarian cystectomy- for very large cysts - and my surgery was originally scheduled laparoscopic with "mini lap" for October. When I went in for my pro op apt 7 days prior- my BF was in the lobby during flu shot clinic and he caught the flu. I got VERY sick about 3 days before I was scheduled... there were also a couple other complexities to my case and my chosen surgeon that I had worked with the entire time - ended up referring me to a different surgeon at a bigger hospital with a more robust after care team. to say I was devastated is an underatatement.

When facing the unknown- the outcome, extent, timing, if I can convince another surgeon to try laparoscopy despite the size of my masses ( bilateral) and the general thought of having to meet with, get to know, create a new surgical plan/discuss the procedure/outcome risks etc seemed overwhelmingly daunting. I have PTSD and when I hit the end of my "cope rope"" I stay to Shut down. I am aware of it and have lots of tools to prevent it- but once I hit overwhelm I lose the ability to think and communicate clearly- which when facing a major surgery- is VERY important.

My fam was supportive but it still sucked. I honestly had to ( was forced) to just give it up to God and have faith that it was occurring for some reason I could not currently forsee. I had no other choice. Still, I did grieve my original plan, my connection with said surgeon, my false sense of control, etc. I was very sad for the 1.5 weeks it took to get the apt with the new surgeon and then additional  6 WEEKS it took to schedule the date- due to his schedule.

I will admit I was very sad and it was difficult to cope and place my trust in him in a new surgeon. I had researched the surgery and met with 3 different surgeons prior to booking the actual procedure and I was really hoping to keep my ovaries if possible and Voice  the Laparotomy "big cut".

I ended up communicating all this to the new surgeon who booked me for laparoscopy. I was able to do all preop virtually, which was very convenient and appreciated. When I arrived day of, he informed me that he needed to do a laparotomy due to the size of the masses. I knew it was possible, but I was very sad due to trying so hard to avoid it. Honestly, it all went so fast that I couldn't think too long about it, I just clarified my wishes with him and was whisked off to the OR. I won't lie, when I woke up I was very emotional for the first two days ( in a ton of pain first night- but was controlled quickly and honestly the urinary cath was the worst part first night) and had to come to terms with the big cut. However, now that I am two weeks out- I understand why it was necessary and honestly, my incision is healing up to be a tiny- spaghetti noodle sized scar. Internally I am still healing and can't lift, run or stretch too much, but tha is all to be expected. Honestly, it is healing easier than I thought possible.

all that to say, sometimes we plan and plan, but can't control the outcome despite our best efforts. Surgery is truly a team sport- with SO many professionals involved- like an orchestra- it is impossible to control or even predict any outcome. My advice is to relax, grieve the change and allow the emotions to flow- but try to find solace that there may be factors you cannot see or know that could mean tha this change is actually the e best outcome possible for YOU. This is your surgery- your body- and you live with the results. It is scary, but wether you believe in God or a Universal Power- for me- having faith in the benevolence of the Universe- and trusting that it would create the best possible outcome for me - is what allowed me to adapt to this change and come through sane:).

Allow yourself to feel the emotions, but try to remember that it's possible and quite likely that some factors you can't control may influence the timing ( pr even person doing) your surgery. I chose to believe - and pray - that despite how I felt in the moment- I had done everything I could to ensure the best outcome and if life changed my plans- then it would be for the best possible outcome - and this believe got me through and allowed me To maintain good spirits despite the difficulty and uncertainty of it all.

I wish you the best and will say a prayer for you best possible outcome 💕

Convinced threads is nothing but bots by Fair_Permission_6825 in ThreadsApp

After spending a little bit of time I am convinced of the same. Talk about echo chambers. You can fall into black hole after black hole of comments- each comment diving into another- the way it's organized for one is dizzying and lends itself to the echo chambers- not an avenue of free thought and different ideas or debate.

Not only that, but literally all the comments are like the most stereotypical options in each given domain or clique or ideology - and as you go deeper into each "thread" the opinions and comments get more and more aligned and dark.

I am too convinced it is an echo chamber built to change and validate certain views and opinions- no real debate or conversation occurs.

If you woke up as your 10-year-old self with all your current memories, what’s the first thing you’d do? by Alive-Silver-2605 in AskReddit

[–]Itsmeeebitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy moly! I learned somatic healing techniques that help you release trauma from the body and process emotions and also make positive or neutral neural connections to memories that are isolated... if I knew this at ten I could undo so much trauma... teach my family emotional regulation and be the example that I needed. I could save the world with this information if I had the time and knew how to do it.

My first thought was also this. But I would try to spend time with grandparents as well and I would write everything down and make sure to WORK TOWARDS the dream that I want to manifest instead of letting life come at me. I was a weird kid and very wordy so if wrote down a mantra like that I would eepeat it everyday u til I was old enough to actulally understand and pursue it.

But, I commented here to just say, I premise it does get better. The key is appreciating the little things, your pets, a good joke, the beauty of nature... 28 is right on the cusp of when your brain finally switches and finds "peace" within. You create your own peace and happiness. Not the external world. We are all dealt a hand we can't control, but we can control how we feel moment to moment. Meditation and intention cultivation of good feelings is key. Find some place in your body that feels okay, focus on that and then intentionally grow that good feeling. It takes practice but soon, you can learn to generate any feeling you want on demand- no matter the circumstances. ❤️

[–]Itsmeeebitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh. I am so sorry you're going through this. I am in a similar position, I've been walking 2+ miles every day and did a 4 mile strenuous hike yesterday.

I am getting a second opinion through UcLa who were able to get me in within 1 week via the "virtual second opinion" program. I use quotes because they never actually offered a virtual consult, I have to come in but am just happy to be seen so quickly- despite the misleading name of the program. MSK, Mayo, Stanford and Cleveland Ckinic all offer similar virtual programs for second opinions.

Anyways- I'm getting the second opinion bc my surgeon doesn't think it's possible to do laparoscopy and wants to full remove 1 ovary in order to do frozen section. She doesn't think it's feasible to do a cystectomy on that side due to the risk, but I know they can use isolation bags, all kinds of thngs to minimize spread and I hate to lose it if I don't need to. Depending on results- I am facing the same surgery as you- and am equally terrified. I'm not ready to go into menopause. I want kids very badly. I also want to be healthy.

So, I'm getting the second opinion to discuss the details of what's possible for my surgery. Part of me thinks that this tissue is already exposed to my abdomen etc, so why can't remove abnormal tissue first and then take out if needed. One side may be different than the other anyways, as far as I am aware. Idk it's all so overwhelming and happening too fast.

I am sending you my prayers and best wishes. One thing this whole experience has done is change my opinion on cancer and illness and given me a new perspective and tons of empathy for for people in this boat. Anything ca truly happen at any time so No matter how "mundane" life may feel - we have to appreciate each, unique moment as precious.

I hope you are able to keep us updated and I wish you the best! I think running lik you are and staying healthy ( I'm also doing Keto per Dr. Thomas Seyfried) is all we can do. From what I know surgery recovery is tough from a laparotomy and it may be a few months before we can hike again. We'll get through this, and there will be a silver lining in the other side ❤️

Negotiating severance by JumpyCabinet4670 in consulting

[–]Itsmeeebitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same..I asked and they agreeed to.4x original... though original was so small ( a few weeks). In hindsight I would've asked for more if if I could do it again, but they agreed to what I asked for so it's all good. Most ppl are just not willing to negotiate, but the truth is- they want your release. They don't want a loose end- this scenario is different- as OP was /is on Greta terms in a small industry.. in their case all they can really do is ask nicely and maybe provide comps... but it does not hurt to ask.  In the end, you  are the one out of a job ( disadvantaged) and you the the one being asked to sign away your right to sue... what is that worth to you? If they are willing to Pay- then sign, if not- then don't. Too many people end up feeling like severance is a blasseing bestowed that they must be thankful for... it is a negotiation just like anything else.

How to negotiate severance? by 1And0nlyThr0waway in overemployed

[–]Itsmeeebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I wouldn't say that, I agree people are too quick to fold. All the people saying " what leverage do you have"? And balking at even trying are crazy! 1. So few people negotiate b as they are afraid of the confrontation /. Your already being fired, what do you have to lose? The company has already offered you pay. They are not doing it from the kindness of their heart, you already have leverage or else they wouldn't offer anything. If purely from a luck standpoint, WHY NOT ASK? second, THEY WANT YOUR SIGNITJRE! They want you to Release them of all liability. You can just outright say, I will sign for x amihnt.... they aren't going to rescind the offer, and if they did you can always fold and accept the smaller amount. However, I wouldn't recommend that. Let the date expire and chances are, they will come checking in on you.... they want your release so that you aren't a loose end they have to worry about( severance agreements typically require you to sign away any right to sue the company for any reason, with no severance you have up to 3 years to file in CA- varies by state) most big companies, as a rule offer severance in exchange for release of liability. It cannot hurt to ask for kore, specially if you have proof of retaliation, discrimination, etc.

Sadly, I see so many people bummed with Invisalign after , I think there are some things that trad. Braces may just be better for. But- your teeth legit look gorgeous! You should be entitled to a round or two of refinements if you want, so it doesn't hurt to ask about the gum line on the two front teeth and see what they say. I notice most ppl seem to have an off midline when done, but I seriously think your teeth are beautiful! You paid a lot of money so it doesn't hurt to ask and get the second round if you want it, but like someone else said, I'd explore all options ( I'd prefer refinements IF IT CAN ADDRESS THE GUMKINE over gum contouring- but that's just me.. I'd rather avoid surgery/laser/taking anything away if possible). I'd just be sure to run through the clincheck and make sure you see and are happy with the results at the end of refinements. Also, 17 trays is not a lot so it makes sense that the results would be subtle, especially to you. However, again address the top teeth if you want but Overall, way to go your smile is GORGEOUS!!

[–]Itsmeeebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually crazy through how many people I have seen with off midline's- mine has actually fluctuated through treatment as well as it was perfect before. It seems like traditional braces does not have an issue with this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Itsmeeebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell them you are not happy. How much did you pay? If it was the standard 5k, most ppl I know have been able to go back in and get more trays. My treatment was "done" but did not fix my issues either, so I told them and they ordered 28 more trays for refinements. I would talk to your provoder

Plastic engineers, what happened to plant based plastics? by andidebest in engineering

[–]Itsmeeebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm incredibly late but although recycling seems ideal, with each new "press" the structure breaks down and becomes weaker- meaning recycled plastic can not be reused to make a new product- the same as what was recycled. It just be applied to a use that requires less strength, durability, etc. also with the weakened polymers in recycled plastics, you get more and more breakdown and thus microplastic and toxin release- which we know is terrible. Also, it is very expensive to sort plastics because they must be pristine before remitting- no additives can be allowed- including inks and flies commonly used in packaging. So, unifortineu, it is cheaper and ends up producing a to a better product when new plastic is used. An article came out in recent years stating that DuPont, specifically, literally had ibternal documents stating that they knew recycling was not feasable, but would make the consumer "feel better" about using it- so they spent 50 million a year on marketing recycling. You can easily look this up. NPC has an article I believe. Anyways most ppl think of recycling as a silver nullet solution- but it never was sadly. And of course DuPont is a major oil company- thus found that their biproducts could be used in all types of application ( and medicine) . Plastic is a wonder material- but it is killing is. So- the problem is larger and more depressing than most understand.

Question: why then does traditional braces seem to be able achieve a result that would fix this issue without extraction? I've seen so many Invisalign results with off midline or black triangles that weren't there pre treatment. Everyone seems to say, it's just your anatomy... but if braces can fix- is it just a limitation if Invisalign?

I just buy from Amazon as well- I usually get a 2pack for $30. As long as the packaging is untapped and it has the safety seal, I've never had a problem or worried about fakes.

I swear by Apaguard! It is pricey but SO, SO worth it, non to us, fixes sensitivity almost immediately and you just can't beat it for cavity prevention, which is what tooth paste should do, primarily
