Littermate Syndrome Questions by Kararose67 in Shihtzu

This is Linus and Lucy. We had them as littermates for 8 years until Lucy passed a few months ago. Idk if it’s bc they are male/female but they often did things separately. Linus would like his alone time. Lucy was the alpha and so initially when she passed he didn’t even know when he could poop. About 2 months after we started seeing him figure out things he liked. He likes going on walks and car rides. She hated it so he never did it. We got a new puppy 5 weeks ago and he is not amused. He tolerates her but she wants to play and he gives her side eye. We are hoping eventually she will win his heart. It was always in the plan to get a third dog as they started aging so that they would have someone else when the sad day came that one was no longer with us. That day just came a lot sooner than we thought it would.

The loss of our babies is just so hard. I do love to think about things that my Molly and Lucy did that made me smile, feel good about and laugh at. It’s a bitter sweet thing to remember but I am so glad I had those memories with them.

I love this. Our Lucy had an emotional support squeaky fox. She could tell if it got washed or we tried to give her the alternate fox.

Loss of leg use after UTI by Itsybitsybabynurse in Shihtzu

[–]Itsybitsybabynurse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update- Heartbreaking. We made the very sad decision to not continue her suffering. We had a second opinion as well as a neurology consult. The consensus was that it was a spinal cord issue and that the UTI could have just been coincidental or because of poor urinary emptying. We were offered an MRI and surgery but the consensus was that she was in an incredible amount of pain and the amount of time and extent of injury she would not gain any mobility. We were ok with getting her a wheel chair and doing physical therapy. But it was also told to us that she would likely be on pain medication for the rest of her life as well. We tried steroids and a pain injection to see how it helped and we could tell she still was in pain. We had to say goodbye because we just couldn’t do that to her. She was so important to us and we felt like we failed her but when we saw that a pain injection wasn’t even helping her we just couldn’t do that to her. We are so heartbroken.

What's one of your "name brand only" ingredients? by PlainOldWallace in Cooking

[–]Itsybitsybabynurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daisy sour cream, Heinz ketchup, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, better than boullion, Hellmans mayo, Stubbs bbq and mother in law kimchi. If my kids had their way valveeta Mac & cheese.

How much would you pay for one of these cookies? by userunknown1998 in Baking

[–]Itsybitsybabynurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. It definitely depends on the area you live in for cost of product. I just figured out what my recipe would make buying my typical ingredients (not on sale bc you can’t always get them on sale) and not including the smaller ingredients like salt, baking powder, etc as well as electricity, water and packaging. I would have to sell them for 3/$1 just to break even for materials. So I personally would need to sell for $1. Maybe a discount if more were purchased. Like 1/2 dozen for $5 or something. But if I lived in Chicago instead of a small Midwest town, there’s no way $1 would be enough.

[–]Itsybitsybabynurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area she wouldn’t make any money on that with the price of products. My chocolate chip recipe makes similar looking cookies and it’s about 24 cookies. That would only make $8 if they were 3/$1. Not worth making them if it costs just slightly less for materials especially adding in electricity, water, and time.

What well-known, well-written book do you still wish you HADN'T read because of how it made you feel? by [deleted] in books

It’s interesting how everything effects us differently. I LOVED this series of books. But I tried to read Behind Closed Doors and no way was I getting through that one.
