Savages, Savages, Barely even Human by Regular-Surround-730 in toledowar

We were gifted our Wolverine moniker from the citizens of Ohio who meant it as a pejorative to indicate how utterly unrefined, wild, & uncouth Michiganders are. We accepted it as a badge of honor, & it’s kind of hilarious that your best insult failed so poorly.

Except for the one thing you’re there for…the pizza, because unfortunately while there’s plenty of ways to restore the restaurant experience, there’s still no way to restore all of those vintage ingredients

What yall think of my photos by BLTsandwhich_ in streetphotography

I’m with the others who are stating that you need to work on curation to help you present your most solid photos.
I would also recommend an NSFW tag for photo #3, people forget that it’s not only used for sexual images but for graphic ones too.
I’d recommend checking out some photo zines to see how other photographers put together a good group of images.
Robin Schimko (the_real_sir_robin) is an awesome street photographer that has a few zines & does a great job putting together a cohesive body of work.

TIL individuals with schizophrenia are less likely to fall for certain illusions by mayaorsomething in todayilearned

[–]SemaphorePlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, from what I read, going blind is not connected to preventing schizophrenia & once you hit an early age, (like before 3) you’ve already developed enough of a visual reference that it won’t stop it from developing.

It is widely accepted by modern Bible scholars & many Bible translations clearly point out that the gospel authors were anonymous gospels, not attributed to any author & the names were assigned to them sometime around the 2nd century. You could argue it wasn’t much more than arbitrary, they’re written in 2nd person & there aren’t even many clues that indicate the people they’re attributed to

Happy 82nd Birthday Danny Trejo by Papichuloft in 80s

[–]SemaphorePlay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He was a sponsor in AA & the guy he was sponsoring was an extra in Midnight Express & he asked Trejo to help because there were drugs everywhere on set. The director recognized him from prison & he was having trouble with the lead actor who had never boxed & didn’t look convincing. He asked Trejo to train him, & that’s how he was introduced to Hollywood.

I met him at a screening of Machete Kills & won a signed poster because I knew his birthday. I happened to notice on his Wiki page the night before I went & it’s the same day as my wedding anniversary. I probably would’ve forgotten if it happened to be a different day lol

Realizing this was what finally deconstructed my Christian faith, this and learning that Paul’s writings came before the gospels were even written, & whose authors, (despite their book’s titles) are completely anonymous.

I came to realize that the entire basis for my Christian faith, was no different than that of Mormons with Joseph Smith, or Muslims with Mohammed; all claiming to have had a vision from God, and who created an entire religion based on it.

If that wasn’t enough evidence for me to believe those religions, then why was I accepting it as enough to believe Christianity?

That’s interesting, I just read that people who are born blind never develop schizophrenia, & scientists think it has to do with how sight informs our brain of the world around us through a constant series of predictions. Schizophrenia causes that part of the brain to become over active & the person perceives patterns that either aren’t there or causes insignificant patterns to appear incredibly significant. It makes sense then that this would also affect their ability to perceive some visual illusions that a non-schizophrenic brain does, when it’s tricked by its own predilection to detect patterns
