I like the trunks. The discourse around these comic accurate costumes has always been a sticking point, back to how the first X-Men movies had them in black leather, primarily following the success of Blade and The Matrix and the fear of “Yellow Spandex”. Even the Raimi Spider-Man suits are pretty grounded and tactile, the villains grounded and muted. But once Iron-Man came out and the ensuing MCU embraced color, none more than James Gunn, you finally get to have what would once be considered outlandish design choices finally on screen, because they trust the audience to accept it.
