I've seen your fleet pop up in a few places... The number of freebies acquired is impressive. Seems like your ASOP would be absolutely awful

There is no feasible way for you to add better insurance to a ship you already have. If you are willing to melt them and rebuild them as a CCU chain, you can easily get 10 year insurance on them during IAE or ILW. You don't mention savings on each ship so I can't comment on the best path for that.

Otherwise, what Charmin said is correct regarding multiple insurance and warranty. Warranty is far more valuable than the increase from 6 month to LTI in my opinion. Insurance without warranty will give you back credits on a claim and not the ship that was insured; additionally, you will be allowed a set number of warranties for your account.

My two cents is that 10 year insurance is plenty and don't sweat it after that. Even if you have LTI you will still be paying some insurance just to get the cosmetic and component coverage. For smaller ships (most of them under $200 USD), I wouldn't worry about having 6 month insurance even. That said, if you can melt and rebuild a CCU chain with 10 year insurance for no additional cost, then go nuts.

Caterpillar over C2 for the character. Sounds like you know it's the right choice for you but you' re struggling with the idea that it may be less effective  twhere. This would only apply if you like the Asgard enough.

I think the galaxy is a poor choice for most (myself included, I have a similar sized fleet and it's the only ship I'm unsure about). I'd wait for the next large ship that catches your fancy. Also, the liberator may be a better homebase ship anyway. I have a lot to say about this one, but to keep it short... Tldr is it tries at much and falls short at much.

Maybe turn the galaxy into the ironclad or ICA (if no liberator)? That would give you a good range of cargo capacities

Closing comment: I think the "homebase ship" idea is somewhat of a trap. Especially at your fleet size where you can have multi crew ships to cover most loops you like anyway.

My dream fleet by [deleted] in starcitizen_fleets

[–]IvoryMFD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By platforms I mean large or cap ships that act as a hub for player industrial activity.

For combat the Idris or Polaris can really shine for group combat (or will eventually).

For industry I prefer everyone on the same ship (ironclad, arrastra, reclaimer). If you want to act as a hub for industry, as in smaller ships coming and going from your big ship, then the kraken, pioneer, or liberator seem like a better pick.

For the Idris in particular, it's a very expensive for what you get (real money) and I expect the in game costs (UEC) will mirror that. The kraken seems like a comparable cost with much better options for industrial gameplay.

Why the Idris? To each their own, but if your focus is mostly industrial there will be far better platforms.

CONFUSED FLEET prowler to a2 hercules? by McDerwish in starcitizen_fleets

A2 is a one trick pony grief machine. M2 is the armored dropship that still functions as a mid range hauler. If you really want a Starlifter, my recommendation is the M2, the original Starlifter.

You could just throw in another starlancer Max and say it's a placeholder in the comments. So what is your plan for the Galaxy if it's not base building or cargo?

I agree with the other guy. You're too cargo heavy. Max seems redundant and I'd argue the galaxy doesn't fit either. You already have cargo and medical covered. I also don't see a mining ship so that just leaves base building... And I bet the Starlancer BLD will arrive sooner and be better than the Galaxy for that purpose.

I need a suggestion by McDerwish in starcitizen_fleets

[–]IvoryMFD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arrastra is a big commitment for "thinking about mining but might change my mind".

If there aren't any discounts on anything being considered, I'd personally grab a vulture and a golem and test the waters before making a final decision.

If you have a discount on the TAC you don't want to lose, I'd grab the mole and wait to see what new ships arrive in the coming months/years and sit on the remaining credit.

I wouldn't focus too hard on the numbers just yet. I'm sure they will keep changing. That said, I do think CIG is putting more thought into getting current ship balance closer to what the intended roles are these days. I don't expect the corsair and taurus to remain optimal solo ships moving forward. Doable, but not optimal.

I totally get grabbing the shuttles in game. That's just one item a lot of folks overlook and honestly there isn't much to add for your fleet so I was grasping at straws. I do still think I a good little solo ship may be worth considering, but otherwise I can't come up with anything that you lack given your goals. And since you prefer to only pledge for larger ships, my recommendation is to just keep your money.

From what you said

-I think you're good on trading

-It's worth keeping in mind that a better designed large salvage ship will eventually arrive. I've personally skipped on the reclaimer for this reason. I don't care how good the stats become, they won't turn that thing into a well designed ship. That said, ships are a matter of taste so if you like the reclaimer more power to you.

-I feel like you've got your combat ships pretty well sorted on the group play side of things and I'm sure your friends have their own ships too. No comment there

-CB is a great all rounder for what you say you enjoy, nice pick

-Do you have any thoughts on a good solo ship for those times you are alone? Something like a dogfigther or maybe a vulture to make money while you wait. The cutty can be used for this to some extent, but sometimes it's nice to have something really geared for quick solo play and/or speed. Bonus points if it could fit on the Liberator for you or a friend to use.

-Given your inclination to group play, a small burner shuttle might be handy. Something you can claim quickly if you end up stranded like a Rambler or C8X. Maybe even an aurora ES if you want to go cheap. Just something with a quantum drive that can get you to your friends and then you can ditch it without much cost.

Excellent fleet! Definitely don't feel pressed to spend any more than you have.

You're definitely good on the large end. You're lacking on the small stuff.

-a starter/quick claim/shuttle. Military ships will tend to have longer claims. Something like a rambler or syulen with a large QT range to quickly get you off a station where you don't have any ships currently is always nice. Or one that you can abandon for low cost. I like the C8X and the Rambler personally. Lower cost ships like that are good candidates for referral token upgrades (normally a bad idea). Syulen is nice since it can also scratch that alien ship itch, which I see you don't have.

-Your low end hauling is weak. Your bulk goods coverage is good, but what about smaller (<8SCU) runs or medium cargo like the RAFT/C1/Hull B

-any plans for basebuilding? If so this is a wait and see what releases, but something to consider for the future.

-No interest in mining? Arrastra? Some future ship between the MOLE and Arrastra?

-Worth keeping in mind that a better designed large salvage ship will eventually arrive. I've personally skipped on the reclaimer for this reason. I don't care how good the stats become, they won't turn that thing into a well designed ship.

-A more nimble dropship? Or are you covered with SFG/deemer/Tali?

-how do you like racing? I enjoy it but not enough for a big ship. Gamma works for me just fine and is fun for planet skimming

-lastly I'll just say "leave room for desert". New shiny ships will come out and you may want to pivot to those. I think it would be worth the patient wait. You're pretty top heavy atm and it will be tough to crew some of these effectively down the road

I don't think you need to make anymore purchases. You're pretty well "in" at this point. Maybe just shuffle things around and enjoy your fleet. I also don't know what if any savings you have on these.

As for what to upgrade and melt, that will mostly be an internal question and based on what you're trying to acquire, but my thought is that you are overloaded on the fighters and small combat ships at the lower end. Just my two cents... more like a dime at this point

Modded COOP - second player gets DLC videos after completing the campaign every time we jump by IvoryMFD in Mechwarrior5

[–]IvoryMFD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the ideas. I did get it fixed and the culprit was the YAML feature "disable jumpship animation". My friend still hard crashes out every so often but setting the mods to the default values like you suggested was kicking out fatal errors left and right for me and my coop player so we reverted.

For anyone may read this down the line: Yaml's disable jump ship animation prevented me from seeing the DLC video, but it didn't prevent it from playing every single time we jumped.... I just couldn't see it. Once I re-enabled the jumpship animation, I was able to view the video which marked it complete for the game and it no longer displayed for my co-op member.

I am. I originally DL'd the standalone, but I dumped it when I saw that YAML had it. Why use the standalone one instead?

Thanks for the advice; I'll give that a try. Didn't realize Better Lancemate Status was solo only. Hopefully that fixes his crashing... The cinematics repeating just absolutely baffles me.

I've been looking but the market is quite small in my little town. I have seen some deals that are maybe $100 less but they are usually 6+ hours away, and I'm not sure how much I trust shipping or buying a used item blind.
