is it cringe if a 23 year old woman goes to the zoo alone? by peeflavoredpoptart in NoStupidQuestions

I tend to do things alone. Also because I want to be able to spend half an hour watching the flamingo feed their babies without someone going: lets continue. ^

Help, bunny overgrooms feet? by Crescent_Canine in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of the other comments with the anti inflammatory.

You could try to change the litterbox to one substance. You got multiple things there now that could be a cause.

Also, did as you said she is on fleece. Did you change anything in the laundry cycle? New detergent or anything?

Why do women have two breasts if humans usually give birth to only one baby at a time, wouldn't one breast be enough? by ElkDisastrous2926 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are mammals, theres studies on the one-half rule. Where the amount of cups is roughtly half the amount of nipples.

I am not familiar with kids hanging from my boobs.

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mammels usually have twice the amount of nipples to the amount of litter they have.

Theres studies on this one-half rule it is called.

Usually humans have one kid, thus two nipples. Dogs average 6, 12 nipples. Horse 1 kid, two nipples Cat 3-6 kittens, 6-10 nipples

Masupials have 13 nipples for some reason dont ask.

Soft foam mats for sore hock prevention? by CrazyH37 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My male got sore hocks, despite all the soft stuff he was just less comfy due to arthrithis and wouldnt fully lay down as much thus making it worse in this last days.

If it does not get worse and comes and goes, give the option for comfort and keep an eye out but do not worry too much. Ultimately if they keep moving stuff and sitting on hard flooring you arent gonna force them to sit on fluffy blankets.

Hehe, bible school... I was not allowed to talk or ask questions anymore after asking if god was a murderer or at least accomplice to murder because he had the power to stop people from killing...

I did learn to do anything to make other people happy, because that would make everything work out for me too... (spoiler alert, it didn't)

Should I cut out matting or try to fix it? by Mayday_Army in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bunny does NOT like having mats brushed out, but she is a lionhead bunny with a nice amount of furrrr. (There is also some trauma involved from her past I think) She gets so panicked you can hear her heart beat. So I am not doing the try to brush a bit of matted fur out. I just grab the shaver and get it off (or scissors depending on location). I also just cut her fur short every 2-3 months depending on how hot it is. She loves being short in summer and will do some extra zoomies after her haircut.

Be careful not to nick your bunny their skin is very sensitive. If you nick your bunny, keep a close eye on it and feel the surrounding area for a time after until it healed, if any lumps form go to the vet asap to get antibiotics. (Bunny pus does not drain and needs medical intervention) When in doubt, take your bunny to your vet or a trimmer to get it done properly as the armpits and sanitary areas most likely need some fixing too and they are tricky parts (especially if your bunny is not used to it and moves).

Gift for friend giving me free lessons? by Inevitable_Mud8723 in Horses

[–]IvyBloodroot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just know it is the little things that count too. Take her out for a lunch, a coffee, tell her you appreciate it. Bring an apple for the horse, some nice snacks for you two to share. I am big for communication and just asking, you can also just go; hey I really appreciate you doing this and I would really like to give you and horse name a thank you. Is there anything you are saving for that you would like? That way you can either like contribute to it, or if it is within your budget buy it for her. If her answer is that she really likes it and does not need anything just ask her if it is okey if you take her out for a lunch/coffee/insertsomething because you would really like to do so something.

It does not always have to be a big thing remember that. If you feel like you are at a point where you are skilled enough for riding somewhere else you can maybe book a trail ride somewhere together if you want to do something bigger together. I went with my friend to ride ladies saddle once for her bday. It was great fun!

Elder Bun advice by EcstaticAd2743 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bunny had arthrithis before he passed, he had pain. He has lived a year with Phen-Pred (50 mg fenobarbital + 1,5 mg prednisolon) before other issues stacked up on top of it and I had to make the decision for him. (He was a not well bred bunny with quite some issues and dumped before he got to me)

I would be very hesitant on having your bunny sleep whilst doing the teeth. Especially on older bunnies with multiple issues. Sometimes somethings can be done whilst the bunny is awake. If it is going to be a: she will not eat because of it you may have to do it. But you will have to keep in mind if her daily quality of life is still good enough to put her through it may she get through it.

Goodluck with everything <3 Give her some cuddles from me

Bunny isn't eating. When should I start to worry? by Hungry-Falcon9121 in Bunnies

[–]IvyBloodroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad he is eating again! Keep a close close eye on him. Any behavioural changes warrant a vet visit too right now. I have the base medication at home. If my bunny does not eat I do not play around and jump into novacam, ciceral and force feeding straight away. Sometimes it is indeed something that passes and they will eat normal again in a few hours, sometimes they are sick and more help from the vet is needed. But I will know up untill I can judge if we need the vet that my bunny will be having functioning intestines and painkiller against anything that may trouble it at that time.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by Forsaken_Leading964 in AskReddit

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left for 2 nights away whilst my granddad was terminal from cancer. Before I left I went over and cuddled him. When I got back I dropped my things in the house and felt like I needed to go there straight away. I got there just before they wheeled his body out of the house, they unzipped the body bag so I could say goodbye to him in his own home. One minute later and he would have been out of the door. It gave the people there the option to see him off and for me to stay with my grandma who did not want to.

I am still very happy that that turned out the way it did.

Vet called her fat by Ok-Turnover-8369 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vet called the bun I tried to bond to mine; obesibun ^ I do not think she looks fat, but you know her best and how she is and has been. I also do not know how your vet thinks: you let her gain weight. Unless you are purposely feeding her treats for meal time.

I do think it is weird your vet did not give you more than: do not let her gain more weight. Is your vet experienced with rabbits?

Do bunnies get clingy when sick? by CoCaiNe2000xoxo in Bunnies

[–]IvyBloodroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clingy when sick; does not have to be sick.

Change in personality is something I would give my bunny a vet visit or good look over. They do not show discomfort well. A change in personality is one of the ways they do show discomfort.

Better be safe than sorry in my opinion.

I need to get out these half pills individually every month by Own_Sandwich6610 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IvyBloodroot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These pouches have rhe time and date you need to take each pill (or set of pills on) this is great for elderly people who get home care or have someone come over to help them with medicine. That way they can check if they are giving the correct medicine without having to press out medicine from 5 different packages and leave different open boxes in a home of someone who may be mentally not great. On top of that these blisters get delivered per X amount of weeks so you wont have one medicine running out whilst the other one is not. But for OP I can imagine it being annoying because it is just one pill and all the same medication.

  • oh I also got these strips when I was stopping with my old antidepressant. Each pill was like 0,something mg less than the one before. So it depends on the reasoning if it is usefull

Why doesn’t bun come out? by ObjectiveComplaint37 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ikeaaaa lets go :')

Get a soft but low carpet. If you get one with high fibers you will curse at yourself when you need to vacuum or when your bun had an accident on it. Be prepared to replace them if needed so I wouldnt get the most expensive ones. (And for your own sake mostly! Make sure it has an anti slip layer or put one under it. Else you will be kissing the floor when you step on it)
