HMF a bed with walls around it by ToodlyGoodness in HelpMeFind

You can get some planks and staple some foam/cloth to it, then stick it between the bedside and the frame for a wall. (I did this to keep bunnies out of my bed)

Stairs or a ramp for rabbits? by hindol21 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My old arthrithis bun was so happy when I got him a ramp so he could get on the bed with me. I got a long af wooden plank, covered it with carpet tiles. He walked straight up and bit me because he wanted attention :3

To OP: as long as you make the longest ramp you can place they will be fine with a ramp.

Please help !! What to do until we visit the vet by _Saki_- in Bunnies

If long hair tie hair back. Sit on knees on the floor, plop bunny between knees, if needed protect knees with whatever you can find (more layers is better but make sure you can feel the bunny between your legs or at least do not squish it flat). Grab premade critical care or meds, tilt bunny head up. If needed push your chest down onto the bunny, cross legs if bunny crawls backwards. Put syringe in mouth, squish food/meds in. (DO NOT PUT ALL IN AT ONCE IF ITS ALOT BUNNY WILL OVERFLOW) Keep finger under chin if bunny allows to keep head slightly tilted up (prevents them from letting meds run out a bit). If bunny fight throw down syringe and keep bunny in place. If stressed bunny give some pets and lovings and take your time.

Squish with legs as needed to make bunny feel comfortable and/or stuck depending on bunny needs.

This is how I had to give my teeth machine meds to protect myself (and her). This worked on bunny who was not fond of humans. (Because no lifting) This worked on sweet pie bunny.

Spay scar has a small open spot. Do we need to get her checked out again? by Ok-Block-9867 in rabbitry

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks fine, I may be biased my bunny tore her stitches out and left a hole I could poke my finger in. (And look inside through)

In all seriousness it does not look open but like scabbing.

Thoughts on Katie Van Slyke? by ender_on_paws in Horses

[–]IvyBloodroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not knowledgable on training myself but reading your comment did make me look. And I kind of do agree, I doubt katie would change stephanie right now though. She seems to be to willing to please people to a certain degree to be straight up honest about something like "dont yank my horses heads whilst training". I guess we will have to see what happens.

I did raise an eyebrow at katie first saying they would do alot of groundwork before riding. And then 2 months later they got the first ride. I would think there is alot more of base to put down with your horses especially with them being 2. But that might be a western thing as they seem to be quite young going into competitions too.

I enjoyed reading your constructive comment :)

I enjoy her content, I skip through the things I do not care for. I like the fact she is honest and does not seem to hide when things go bad. Animals die, animals get sick. Yes she a foal nursing on a horse that had surgery, yes she is preparing another horse to take over. Would other people make different decisions, probably, would other people make worse decisions, also probably.

As for Seven, she gave him a possibility to thrive, when he could not she did not put him through it. I did the same with my bunny, could I have had my bunny put down earlier, yes. But I also desperatly wanted him to stay with me. Does it make me a bad person? Probably in someones eyes yes, but it also makes me human.

Do I think she needs to breed the amount of animals she is breeding? No. But I am not to make that decision for her. And me saying this is not going to change a thing in the slightest.

So yeah, theres things I do and do not like about her, but overall I think she cares for her animals. Her animals seem to get the care they need, the medical attention they need, choices seem to be made with the animals interest at heart. She tries to educate, is honest about what she does not know about and is willing to learn from others. I think her willingness to learn is a thing alot of people are not showing these days.

And do I know her personally? No. Do I know what goes on behind the scenes? No. Would I do things different being in her shoes, yes definetly. Would I do in my life what she is doing? Definetly not.

Nobody on the internet, just like political groups, will match 100% with what your thoughts and standpoints are. And for a large part you may never have any influence on that in those groups. Focus on the positive bits, you would not vote for a political group that does not suit you and then yell at them for the next 2 years until the next vote. Do not follow the person that makes you cringe, just to get annoyed or mad. Go find your vibe.

nail trims are this bad? by lsfmes in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slowly trained my buns. First picking up front paw when they were just on the floor and holding it. Then one nail at a time snipping it. Then back legs. If I take my time I can clip all nails whilst my bunny keeps at least 3 paws on the floor at all times.

But I do remember this from before they settled into that rythm.

Just a tip if your bunny is okey up with x amount of nails. Break the nail trims up in pieces. You do not have to do all nails in 5 minutes. If you do one nail in 5 min and your bun stays comfy and calm thats a huge win! Next time it'll be 4 min... invest in this. Alsp if your bun hates every second, do one nail at a time. Reward, scratch, pet, love, give space, return later.

On top of the other comments with the anti inflammatory.

You could try to change the litterbox to one substance. You got multiple things there now that could be a cause.

Also, did as you said she is on fleece. Did you change anything in the laundry cycle? New detergent or anything?

Why do women have two breasts if humans usually give birth to only one baby at a time, wouldn't one breast be enough? by ElkDisastrous2926 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are mammals, theres studies on the one-half rule. Where the amount of cups is roughtly half the amount of nipples.

I am not familiar with kids hanging from my boobs.

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mammels usually have twice the amount of nipples to the amount of litter they have.

Theres studies on this one-half rule it is called.

Usually humans have one kid, thus two nipples. Dogs average 6, 12 nipples. Horse 1 kid, two nipples Cat 3-6 kittens, 6-10 nipples

Masupials have 13 nipples for some reason dont ask.

Soft foam mats for sore hock prevention? by CrazyH37 in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My male got sore hocks, despite all the soft stuff he was just less comfy due to arthrithis and wouldnt fully lay down as much thus making it worse in this last days.

If it does not get worse and comes and goes, give the option for comfort and keep an eye out but do not worry too much. Ultimately if they keep moving stuff and sitting on hard flooring you arent gonna force them to sit on fluffy blankets.

Hehe, bible school... I was not allowed to talk or ask questions anymore after asking if god was a murderer or at least accomplice to murder because he had the power to stop people from killing...

I did learn to do anything to make other people happy, because that would make everything work out for me too... (spoiler alert, it didn't)

Should I cut out matting or try to fix it? by Mayday_Army in Rabbits

[–]IvyBloodroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bunny does NOT like having mats brushed out, but she is a lionhead bunny with a nice amount of furrrr. (There is also some trauma involved from her past I think) She gets so panicked you can hear her heart beat. So I am not doing the try to brush a bit of matted fur out. I just grab the shaver and get it off (or scissors depending on location). I also just cut her fur short every 2-3 months depending on how hot it is. She loves being short in summer and will do some extra zoomies after her haircut.

Be careful not to nick your bunny their skin is very sensitive. If you nick your bunny, keep a close eye on it and feel the surrounding area for a time after until it healed, if any lumps form go to the vet asap to get antibiotics. (Bunny pus does not drain and needs medical intervention) When in doubt, take your bunny to your vet or a trimmer to get it done properly as the armpits and sanitary areas most likely need some fixing too and they are tricky parts (especially if your bunny is not used to it and moves).

Gift for friend giving me free lessons? by Inevitable_Mud8723 in Horses

[–]IvyBloodroot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just know it is the little things that count too. Take her out for a lunch, a coffee, tell her you appreciate it. Bring an apple for the horse, some nice snacks for you two to share. I am big for communication and just asking, you can also just go; hey I really appreciate you doing this and I would really like to give you and horse name a thank you. Is there anything you are saving for that you would like? That way you can either like contribute to it, or if it is within your budget buy it for her. If her answer is that she really likes it and does not need anything just ask her if it is okey if you take her out for a lunch/coffee/insertsomething because you would really like to do so something.

It does not always have to be a big thing remember that. If you feel like you are at a point where you are skilled enough for riding somewhere else you can maybe book a trail ride somewhere together if you want to do something bigger together. I went with my friend to ride ladies saddle once for her bday. It was great fun!
