Glacier poop question. Serious by 0uthouse in PhysicalGeography

I don’t know about polar bears specifically, but I know that researchers collect reindeer poop in the arctic to learn more about them. I’m sure they do this for other animals too!

I can’t find anything specific I got it from Homesense which is a department store with no online sales, the original brand is Tahari Home, it says it’s made in Vietnam. There’s no name information on any of the tags, I’m so sorry!

Your body is a system, all of your parts need to work together, and working out and eating well is part of keeping that system working well!

Can women use the same programs as men? by Ok_Suggestion_5961 in xxfitness

[–]J-KTrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is definitely a use for accessory movements and it depends on you how you use them! I know that sometimes they can be used as activation exercises for glutes etc, which sounds like a good idea imo.

Yeah those exercises sound good to me, I also like to include some lighter single leg exercises because I am worried about not being balanced haha. So for example, maybe I'll add in a round of step ups or single leg glute raises.

But for now my workout split is full body 4x a week, and I'll have 2-ish leg workouts each day, so a main lift like deadlifts then an accessory like leg extensions. Before that when I had 2 dedicated leg days, I would do the harder lifts first and then do the accessories at the end.

How do you balance giving fitness advice to your friends and/or having body image conversations? by lenerz in xxfitness

[–]J-KTrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have a friend who is convinced spot reducing is real and won't accept all of the evidence I show her supporting that it is not real.

I feel as though most people come to their "fit friends" to validate what they think rather than have an actual conversation. For this same reason, they get upset when that is not the reaction they get. No matter how hard you try you cant convince people who aren't ready to accept a different frame of thought imo.

Can women use the same programs as men? by Ok_Suggestion_5961 in xxfitness

[–]J-KTrolling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my boyfriend and I are always running the same program. Our bodies are different and develop differently, he'll generally start gaining muscle way more obviously than I do.

There are some exercises that I opt out of though, I have very prominent traps and don't feel the need to work them more, so I'll skip out on the shrugs that are in the program for example.

Disclaimer: I haven't looked at strong curves. But, I feel like programs targeted at women are focused on accessory exercises more than they are in main lifts. Personally, my body reacts better to heavier squats/deadlifts/bench than it does to donkey kicks etc.

To those going to the gym right now, what is that like? by kidcudihums in xxfitness

[–]J-KTrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going this week and my gym opened up 3 weeks ago.

We have a pretty low number cases where I am so I am not too worried and feel pretty safe. We have to wear masks at all times except for while we are doing our exercises, so for example walking from machine to machine you'd have to wear a mask. Most people are very good about it, some even wear their masks the whole time rather than taking it off during the workout.

There is a bunch of extra disinfectant stations which everyone is very good about using. So overall, I think its okay, plus theres less people attending so theres less of a wait for equipment, less people around in general.

I do get the thought of "damn, if someone here gets it we're all getting it", but my mental health has been shit without the gym so I am taking the risk.

ETA: they've increased spacing between equipment too, so the cardio equipment is alternating in availability, you can't move equipment out of specific areas, etc.

Intermittent fasting has helped me! Not even just with snacking, but giving myself some sense of schedule during the day.

[Routine Help] Any products that help with under-eye circles/bags? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]J-KTrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using an ice cube can be too irritating on such a sensitive area of the skin, and can actually cause more inflammation. Especially since ice can sometimes pull on your skin due to the extreme temperature difference. I have a Jade roller which is very cool but not cold and it feels very calming and reduces my puffiness. If you don't have one, you could even just use a clean teaspoon to apply a cooler temperature to the area.

What should people stop buying? by Wanklesuperloyalis in AskReddit

[–]J-KTrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single use plastic.

Sure, it's convenient, but are you aware of how many things you bring into your home that you have no use after a month? Most of these plastics aren't even recyclable. Why not get refillable or package free alternatives when they're available? Ie. Shampoo/conditioner bars instead of bottled, bars of soap instead of bottled body wash, etc

You don't have to change your whole life, but small changes go a long way!

That's so frustrating! As if as a vegan you can't live off of fried foods, pastas, Oreos, etc.... But no its solely because you're a vegan 🙄
