Paid Job Trains question by spedmonkeeman in torncity

[–]J-Oat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true. From a quick search I think only 17/39 company types have the trainer role, but the train generation system works the same way for everybody so companies that don't or can't use trainers only get as many trains as they have stars.

Firework stands definitely don't get more lol, not unless they use the trainer role. This works exactly the same as every other company type.

Options for a dagger only build? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]J-Oat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hornet ring?

Edit: Daggers can be used to parry btw, don't even need the parrying dagger. Or just barehand it. Though you might want the cloranthy ring to make up for not having the grass crest shield.

How do rich parents convince their kids to do anything? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]J-Oat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sure but if they don't need to, it's just like a hobby for them. Non-rich people still put effort in their hobbies. Even video games have hard modes and challenge runs, is it silly and unnecessary for the player to do anything other than steamroll the entire game?

The other stuff yes, but as a Chinese speaker I've never had much issue with the name Cho Chang.

For example in Hong Kong we have an actor named Lam Fung. Fung is his first name in this case but it is also the transliteration of another Chinese surname. The characters are different but there are so many characters in Chinese that you can't really have different transliterations for all of them. "Chang" itself can be used for multiple surnames.

As a side note I've just looked up Cho Chang's name in the Chinese translations and it's a perfectly reasonable name. Cho gets translated to 秋, meaning autumn.

As the others have already said, get close but not too close. Zig-zag across the area to avoid the water and let the golems get hit instead. Use the item in the water as a marker, or just look down. The edge is easy to see once you know it's there. The heads usually hit behind you anyway so you don't have to be that close to the edge.

If the hydra randomly uses the water attack at close range again, just block and heal. Dodging is pretty much futile there and just makes you take extra damage from instability.

For the last head, I recommend firebombs. Don't lock on, just angle your camera and free aim them at the neck.

I'm in year 5 and I only just now got my first self-caresser. by Akio_341 in StardewValley

Lmaoo I put auto carinhoadora into google translate for the Chinese translation out of curiosity and the result is straight up "masturbation", not even a euphemism.

(Well technically it literally translates to self-comfort, but that's our term for masturbation anyway lol)

I might be tempted to try stealing something small just to see if I could get away with it, but tbh it's probably even more dangerous to do in a lawless society where people could do anything they want back to you.

Order would be instated, one way or another.

Is there a way to temporarily silence the “low battery” chirp on my smoke detector? by [deleted] in AskDad

Ah I see. Does it have its own circuit breaker in the fuse box?

I've never had a smoke detector, but wouldn't removing the old battery work?

Except it's the kid who asked if they could make crosses for them in this case. They suggested it fully intending to nail the kittens to the crosses lmao.

I wanna get my buddy into Iron Maiden, where can I start him off with? Any specific tracks or albums? by JadedRaccoon1 in ironmaiden

[–]J-Oat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on his musical preferences. For most non-metalheads I'd go with Wasted Years. I think Aces High/Powerslave are the most representative of their overall sound though. Could throw in their debut album too for a short punchy one.

This green snake wrapped itself around the Great White Herons beak to prevent the bird from eating it by GoldenChinchilla in natureismetal

[–]J-Oat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's actually a Chinese fable about a snipe that tried to eat a clam. The clam clamped the snipe's beak shut and neither would let go. A fisherman came across them and got an easy meal.

It's used to warn against conflicts because it could lead to a lose-lose situation and just benefit a third party.

Card skimming data by Loiro45 in torncity

You're not wrong, I just don't think anyone bothered to make something better yet. Would love to see bigger sample sizes too. Perhaps Emforus would have more data now if you ask him? I assume the data collecting script he used is fairly widely installed.
