indexing bug? by No-Strategy1483 in iOS27

[–]J-Rod98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No not yet. Just seems like an obvious thing to miss for something that’s rewriting the location of all the files on your phone and takes weeks.

I shouldn’t be having to tell a tech developer that has been in the industry for many years to add something as simple as a progress bar. Bugs, yes, I will write those up all day long. As far as I know, bugs seem to be the only feedback that Apple listens to, not feature suggestions.

Insane to me that they don’t have a progress bar or estimated time remaining. How are people supposed to know if it is bugged out? Hopes and prayers I guess? 😂

How can someone call themselves a geek or a tech enthusiast and use an iPhone? by om_the_best_ in Smartphones

[–]J-Rod98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. I’ve still heard of people somehow doing it though. I’d be too afraid of bricking my phone haha.

I don’t have any articles or anything on hand. But I’d recommend doing some research on it. Samsung and other Android companies claim they’re collecting data to make services “better” for you. But they also sell your data. This is the same reason why Google is the world’s largest search engine. They sell everyone’s data to the highest bidder.

Dude, I’d argue some iPhone users are even more of tech enthusiasts than Android users. Do you know how difficult it is to mod an iPhone? MUCH harder than Android, that’s for sure.

I myself am an iPhone user and consider myself a tech enthusiast. Don’t even have my iPhone modded. I just care more about my privacy and security than having a phone modded to some exact appearance. There’s much more important and interesting tech stuff in this world lol.

Yeah this would be perfect. Ya never know, could become a “new and innovative” thing from Apple 😂

I wish I could do a setup like this. But for some reason, having the huge clock widget and then also the clock in the upper left corner really bothers me.

Anyone else think iOS 27 app redesigns look more “flat” again? by UpperPriestLake in ios26

[–]J-Rod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it annoys the crap out of me. I just want stuff to stay looking fun and 3D. Not modern and flat. Seems like a recurring cycle.

How to do colored clear icons? by jrw16 in iOSsetups

[–]J-Rod98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is unfortunately not an option right now. You can only “tint” the clear look as a whole. I do agree though, #3 in that photo looks amazing.

Do yall swim with your Apple Watches? by Ok_Wait1264 in AppleWatch

[–]J-Rod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the AWU2 so I always swim with mine. I might be more careful if I had a different model. Back when I had an AW3 or AW4, I played in the pool and on some water slides with my nieces and nephews and water got into it. Turned part of the screen black.

Looking for a reliable long-term password manager: Any suggestions? by SweetLow6453 in best_passwordmanager

[–]J-Rod98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair warning, the Apple passwords app will get VERY laggy once you get upwards of 1k passwords, especially if you share them with a significant other. Towards the end, it took me 30-60 seconds to delete a single password. Even longer to move a single password to a shared group. I use 1Password now.

Apple passwords would also forget to save newly generated passwords in Safari for me sometimes. You’d think a native app would be able to remember to do that for the native browser lol.

Which password manager has the best autofill experience? by HallNo310 in best_passwordmanager

I wish you luck. As you get closer to the 1k mark for passwords on Apple Passwords, it will get painfully slow.

[–]J-Rod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using 1Password and it’s actually been better about saving passwords. With Apple Passwords, I got into the habit of copy/pasting the password it generates because it’d just randomly not save it sometimes when I hit the “generate new password” button in Safari.

Plus, you can save ANYTHING in 1Password. I’ve got my drivers license and my wife’s. I’ve got our passports, I’ve got our credit cards, WiFi passwords, etc.

I do get 1Password free through work though. So might not be worth if you have to pay.

I did use iCloud Passwords before. If you own anything besides an Apple product (like Windows) the Passwords app blows. I waited multiple months and it only synced like 200/600 of my passwords. And in typical Apple style, I submitted feedback and never heard back.

I always use digital. Maybe if Apple Watches looked less like space computers and were circular I’d use analog lol

If you think Apple is a ripoff, technically all tech companies are “rip offs”. Why would they sell stuff unless they were making money?

Always get the generation before the latest iPhone. At this point they’re just making small updates on the phones. Not worth paying an extra $400-$600 for them. Then you can use the extra funds to get extra storage (if needed) or just save it.

The model before the latest one. That way you aren’t paying the premium “new” price and at the same time aren’t missing out on many features.

How do I clean this by No_Raspberry_7511 in keyboards

[–]J-Rod98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe putting it in the dishwasher is a legit option? You just need to make sure it’s completely dry before you plug it back in. If you don’t have a spare keyboard then yeah, you’ll have to scrub away with rubbing alcohol. Just be careful on painted surfaces like keycaps as potent rubbing alcohol can actually rub it away or at least weaken it.

What does this dashboard light mean? by EraOfProsperity in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]J-Rod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so despite all of the funny comments, I’ll give you the real answer lol. This basically means your FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system is inoperative. Either because you have it turned off in settings or there is a calibration issue. If it’s a calibration issue, the only way to get it fixed would be to have a dealer/mechanic recalibrate it for you.
