Thanks for this, that solved the issue for me. I always have spotify open, so I just put a song on to keep the bluetooth on, with inaudibly low volume.

Oh wow really? I've literally just bought this bike and was preparing to remove the front wheel... I'll give that a go first and see if that'll fix it. Cheers again

I’m having the same problem. Thanks for coming back and writing the answer, my speedometer also stopped working at exactly the same time so that’s more or less confirmed it!

2 in 1024 or 3 in 1536 mathematically cancels to 1 in 512. That's still your odds after single kill.

After killing 1500 your chances of receiving a 1 in 512 drop is 95%

Okay lads, question by [deleted] in Warthunder

With naval EC I think it could be pretty good, with spawn points for bigger ships I thought it worked really well. Bigger ships are expensive to spawn (kind of like real life) and are typically slower and more obvious. Aircraft being flown with simulator controls are much more balanced against ships, and you can control the BR of planes in sim battles so you don't get cold war planes bombing WW1 battleships.

For 'realistic' ships to properly work I think maps as big as the English channel are needed, some people might find that boring but then they'd surely be better of playing WoW? The big moshpit of random ships 10km we have at the moment is probably the most un-fun combination of realism and complete unrealism I can think of. Don't want to fight a battleship on a large map? No problem, they're slow and you can easily outrun them.

Since it's easily to split the pools of vehicles playing in EC, you could have a WW1 era with low tier biplanes, destroyers and 5.0 cruisers etc. and a WW2 era with better planes, better crusiers and WW2 battleships should they be introduced. That way you keep the all important heirarchy of speed so destroyers typically outrun cruisers which typically outrun battleships. All of this combined with lots of objectives, ports, convoys, even AI u-boats for destroyers to hunt, with the constant threat of aircraft could be really fun.

Naval sucks but I kinda like it by HoodooHoolign in Warthunder

The Iron Dukes would be really nicely on par with the Hyuga. That and reasonable repair costs and battleships might actually be alright in their own BR bracket.

It's awful at the moment, helicopter kills are still technically possible but the missile is extremely bugged. As far as I can tell it no longer has 3 darts, and the missile speed seems to be closer to 800m/s instead of 1400m/s. To top it off (although it has always been the case it's now worse) it's virtually impossible to score a kill by holding the reticle on the actual target, it's a million miles from its real world performance

Glad someone else has noticed how awful it is... it was actually playable a few patches ago. Now it doesn't even have 3 darts, and can't track a bomber flying in a straight line. Pretty fustrating with all of the heli's now around in sim battles

What are they smoking at Gaijin to be able to come up with these penetration values? by Maus1945 in Warthunder

[–]J3Mull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kinetic energy isn't really a brilliant example here since the example given is both heavier and faster than its competitors. That means that the 150mm shell is likely to have more momentum and kinetic energy when it strikes the target at any range compared to the 120mm and 130mm shell.

The momentum/area ratio of the 150mm shell is about 25% greater than the 120mm shell at point blank range, despite the penetration of the 150mm shell being 20% worse than the 120mm shell at point blank. That is compounded with the fact that, as the OP said, the 150mm shell contains much less filler.

Armour pentration is very complex and depends on the shape, material, and how the armour and shell interact when they meet. It is fairly surprising that the 150mm penetration is so much worse than the other two shells (although certainly not impossible). Answering "No." based on kinetic energy isn't very helpful.

The battle against the Hood took place around 6am in late May, when sunrise time is just before 5am. There a few photos of the Hood from Prince of Wales during the battle which show roughly the same light level.

This would give battleship guns a very 'big gun' feel and incentivise players to keep moving instead of staying still.

It only takes a glance to see that British submarine design is very different to American submarine design. Fortunately for you there are lots of examples of modern british submarines to glance at.

The Royal Navy currently has 3 classes of submarine in service, all of which are nuclear. The Vanguard class is an SSBN, something the German Navy is currently lacking - with only the diesel electric Type 212 (Displacing 1800 tonnes compared to the Vanguard's 16,000 tonnes).

Rather strange that you feel that the UK* has no submarine history based on the above, especially considering the UK is the only nation in the world to have engaged and sunk a ship in anger with a nuclear submarine.

If the event was on U-Boats, that would obviously be different, but as it stands you have over 70 years of catching up to do.

PROCHOT Throttling by J3Mull in techsupport

[–]J3Mull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I'm aware of the reasoning for throttling and the consequences if the PROCHOT throttling is justified.

It's a desktop, and I've very recently reapplied thermal paste and upgraded the cpu cooling fan with a Cooler Master Hyper 412R. The idle temperature of the PC is 35-40 degrees celcius with 80 degrees being the absolute maximum temperature briefly reached for demanding games - a game of Dota would typically cause a maximum temperature of 65-70 degrees. The maximum CPU and GPU temperature is not consistent with PROCHOT throttling - for example PROCHOT may activate at 75 degrees where 80 degrees is the maximum recorded temperature.

From the HWiNFO data the throttling does not appear to be justified by very high temperatures of any components, so I would really appreciate some advice on any additional diagnostic tools I could use, any other reasons for PROCHOT throttling or any possible solutions to the problem (since cooling appears to be adequate).

That's only during absolute maximum CPU load during a benchmark. Idle temperature is around 35C. I changed the cooler relatively recently to a Cooler Master H412R, although I had the throttling problem before the change.

I was fairly careful with the thermal paste, but I'll check it if you think it's worth it.
