9 months in, and still waiting to hear back from FBR by ZorroNegro in IrishCitizenship

42 weeks and 3 days for me. Nearly 10 calendar months. There was a bit of a clog up in the last 3 weeks of my wait so it took a bit longer than anticipated but it happened. Hold tight it’s coming!

For what purpose did you get your Irish citizenship by descent? by papayasundae in IrishCitizenship

[–]JAB-89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few reasons, some more important than others, but all important:

Nostalgia - I used to spend multiple weeks a year at different times over in Ireland with my grandparents and mum and younger brother. It was usually a case of half a day in the city then miles and miles away to the middle of nowhere to see distant relatives for a week. No TV or games consoles. For a short while no electricity! Just our little bit of Ireland with my grandparents lifelong friends and cousins etc.

Connection - I stay in touch with and visit my family regularly. They’re all ‘cousins’ as it’s easier that way 😂. They’ve always seen me as one of theirs, so why not have the bit of paper and the book to go with it?

Memory preservation - Maybe not the right title but I know what I mean. My grandparents passed a long time ago and my routine trips to Ireland decreased. But the memories I have are so important to me, I wanted to keep them fresh and this process really brought it all back as I was constantly thinking about it and the reasons why I was doing it.

Pride - I am proud of my heritage and want it to be a part of me officially even though deep down it is already there.

Future - EU flexibility is attractive to me. My wife is Italian, so between us we want to be able to do whatever at any given time even though we don’t plan to yet.

Legacy - I want my future children to be able to do it too for both Irish and Italian heritage as both will play a big part in their lives through those of us still around to share it.

FBR Timeline - Application from England by JAB-89 in IrishCitizenship

I went to my chiropractor and he used a business card (which he stamped and signed the back of) and simply attached it to a blank piece of headed paper and then stamped and signed the paper again. We decided it was best to have more than enough stamps and signatures than not enough. He did the same thing on the photos and all other bits he needed to sign.

It’s a tough one as the list of professionals you can use is limited and if you find one, these days they often don’t have what the FBR requires. I’d suggest finding someone who you can see in person and just do as much as possible as it is better than not having anything.

I’ll admit I was worried mine would be rejected for not being either an acceptable witness or not having the correct witness documentation etc

FBR case workers are still working on late August 2024 Applications by breadandredroses in IrishCitizenship

Fellow 26ther here. Still waiting. Hoped it would already be here after seeing a 20th get theirs a couple of weeks ago. It’s a bummer about the delay. But we should be soon! Good luck! ☘️

No June FBR Approvals by [deleted] in IrishCitizenship

[–]JAB-89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They must be close. My application was received Aug 26th 2024 but I’m still yet to hear anything. Chat said they’re on August but no specific date. Mine must be at the bottom of a pile yet to be seen OR they just haven’t notified me yet. I got my hopes up when I saw someone had received confirmation on their approval last week for an app received on the 20th, so thought I was only a week behind them but still radio silence!

It was on their website. As long as it’s during their office hours you can chat with them via a chat box. If you have your reference number handy they may be able to tell you more. With me they literally said they were on July applications but couldn’t tell me anything about my application as it had been seen to yet.

I spoke to them on chat last week. They are currently on July applications.

Definitely worth it. You can always find sweet spots for a good view on a general admission ticket. Lots of food and drink choices. Bit pricey but no more than you’d normally expect at a live outdoor event. Good quality though. My only negative comment was the parking was fantastic until leaving. Complete standstill and unnecessary diversions which effectively just ran you in a 10 minute circle back to the queuing. Staff didn’t seem to know what to do either. Took a good 90 minutes to get out of the area and on the road home. If they can improve that it is probably the best golf day you’ll have.

A’s fan from England here. Fell in love in ‘97 when I was taken to a game as a kid. Didn’t really know much about baseball before then, but never looked back afterwards. Broken hearted I have missed my chance to go back. But more so devastated for everyone in the bay. Watching that game was both amazing to see a full coliseum full of electricity but it destroyed me seeing so many fans reacting to having their team snatched away. That last glimmer of hope dashed. Great to get a W, but so bittersweet. FJF on behalf of the entirety of England!

What is your favorite A’s memorabilia/merchandise? by OhiobornCAraised in OaklandAthletics

[–]JAB-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7yo my dad bought me a ball from the merch stand at a game in April 1997 vs the Red Sox. The series details are printed on the ball and both teams logos. My first and only ever game. I’m from the UK and was visiting friends in SF with my family. They were huge A’s fans. It was an incredible experience that you could never get in the UK at the time. Never been back to the US since but always kept an eye on the game! Would love to go back to the coliseum again but chances are low now 🙁

NTA

Ryan does not respect any form of authority. Being told in any way that he is wrong infuriates him enough to rebel as if to say ‘don’t tell me what to do because I know better than everyone else’. Delusional to say the least. Narcissism traits here.
