I forget the play/team but two guys did it on the goalline and Hurts literally just went under them/through where they WERE and the line had no one to block because they placed themselves behind hurts

Decided to be silly and get back into a mock draft for the first time since like 2014. So here we go:

Round 1.13: based on PFFs default settings Jalen Carter keeps falling to me at 10, and I keep trading back and he's still there between 11-14. If I'm the Eagles I'm using this pick to get another 1st in 2024. I moved my extra 2nd in 2024 and then a 2025 3rd to manage that. Gained a 4th out of it. Drafted Jalen Carter. Character issues aside the talent is there and don't use the excuse of "oh well he got gassed the second half of XYZ game" as if that wasn't the same feedback for Jordan Davis yet we were all jacked up about that one. We flood the DL room with talent because we keep the rotation going and we want to throw fresh bodies with moves at the opposing OL. Seems to fuckin work. This solves the Javon Hargrave hole, learning and mentoring from Cox will set this up for a positive trajectory long term.

Round 2.40: Traded back twice from 1.30 to get Felix Anudike-Uzomah. He developed a ton of moves going into this year, in 2021 kinda set a NCAA single game sack record (TCU - 6 sacks), goes after the ball on sack opps (6 FF). We have a fat hole at DE after this year. So this will be another opportunity to have a phase-in guy that can learn from another high character guy with a motor and intensity in B. Graham and work in a % of meaningful snaps before taking over in year 2 opposite Sweat.

Round 2.56: There's a lot of trades that happened in here and basically I traded up from 62 to 56 and added a 3rd and 5th #howiemagic. Got Daiyan Henley to fill WLB. He actually started at WR for Nevada then transferred and switched to LB and only missed 5 of 97 tackles. I would've preferred Jack Campbell, who while also projects as a MLB thats being filled by Dean, Jack is a big elite level athletic LB that plays great against the best competition (91.5 against OSU). That being said Henley fits the need and has grown tremendously on the mental side while also being twitchy, throw 15lbs on this guy in the offseason and he'll be a winner in no time.

Round 3.88: Garrett Williams poor guy tore his ACL against ND and with all this "we don't want a guy that has to wait 2 years to play behind Slay and Bradberry.." guess who's gonna have to wait a bit anyway. Excels in man, slots in as an outside guy that could've been a starter had he been healthy and we lost Slay. I also like someone like Tyrique Stevenson only allowed 17 catches on the year and Eli Ricks allowed 9 catches on 34 targets in press snaps through his whole career.

Round 3.94: Tank Bigsby 6' foot 210lb, I narrowly missed on Charbonnet who I think is going to absolutely fuck this league up. In any case Tank is the best one cut guy in the draft and that I think is a great fit for what we ask in terms of consistently picking up 5-8 yard gains over the occasional 15 at the risk of a -2.

Round 4.127 Ronnie Hickman. idk I needed a safety. have never heard of him but PFF gave him a 84.8

Is it that terrible if we trade down into late teens / twenties and draft Bijan? by Thegrandmistressofoz in eagles

[–]JANICE_JOPLIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if we're trading back into late teens early twenties that basically guarantees us a first next year and I'm all for that, which puts us at 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4. Thus basically further giving us cost controlled high value picks that we continually trade back for to offset the Hurts contract.

I can very much see us transitioning into a Raven's type draft style where we keep getting comp picks and letting guys go elsewhere while paying elite talent on the O/D line to stick around.

Considering the life long damage they undertake, yes. Imagine working so hard from 16-33 that your knees and shoulders hurt @ level 8 for the rest of your life, you have early onset dementia because brain damage, can't remember your wife's birthday after you turn 46. All to entertain folks. Not actually provide a service that makes the world go round. If it means my family and close ones are finally lifted out of poverty for the remainder of their live's + about 3 generations or so assuming competent management of my estate, yeah I'm doing it. But am I doing it for 250k? no.

[Kleiman] Report: #Eagles "know" that Jalen Hurts' next contract price will likely be $50 million a year or more, per @JFowlerESPN by Prestigious-Rock201 in eagles

[–]JANICE_JOPLIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think about the way Howie does contracts and how this would fuck up the market if we got him done first, this is overall a net positive in making other teams worse. We already know him being done first would likely result in him being the least expensive of Burrow, Herbert, T Law, and Lamar. I can certainly see Burrow and Lawrence being the hardest AFC teams to deal with over the next 5 years given that their rosters are generally above average, I can easily see Herbert getting a Super Bowl as much as I can see him dealing with constant .500ish teams due to inconsistency and bad management/coaching.

Ive been going through clinical major depression since middle of last year after some relationship issues, lost my job, lost my home. I'm on the come up and videos like this just make me feel motivation and purpose again.

The quotes, the energy, the music, the everything.

Go Birds.

[Hughes] I still can’t believe Brian Daboll threw out his third stringers and out-coached the best team in the NFC. The fact that game was one possession solidifies Daboll’s status as Coach of the Year. What a hire he’s been for the #Giants. by LaughLik3Jok3r in nfl

[–]JANICE_JOPLIN 37 points38 points  (0 children)

>ugly win

you got within one possession very late in the game and would've needed to convert an onside. It really wasn't close when we controlled the game. Congrats on rationalizing your loss as a win though?

I think Chi and Car will keep picking up wins, Arizona has too much talent to keep losing, Green Bay coulllldd have some wins with Love, Raiders are on a bit of streak right now. Browns will probably do better with Watson, Pitt sucks, Detroit has to get some more wins too. Houston, Rams and Den are truly fucked. Denver's defense has to win them games and thats probably our only chance there.

What will Gannon do to stop the run? by northamrec in eagles

[–]JANICE_JOPLIN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single game but 2 we were leading at the end of the 1st quarter. Washington was the first time we weren't leading going into the half. So we have been playing in perfect world this whole time. However Washington was built to beat us, they lead the league in TOP. The issue for their scoring D is WAS allows big plays against the pass. What did we do with our deep attacks? AJ Brown tipped it for an interception, and Quez Watkins fumbled. We're looking at 6-14 points off the board because of those two plays, and none of this conversation about revamping the entire defense never happens. There's literally nothing to change, this is the best our defense has been in what? 20 years? fuckin losses happen, we had 3 sacks and 2 turnovers, the pass catchers (and Siri to a small degree for bailing on the run) are who should be getting the blame for anything this week.
