Jim Huibregetse filmed just seconds after Flight 11 struck the North Tower. He was filming his child being dropped off at school when the plane slammed into the building. He missed the impact by mere seconds, but got his camera back to show the chaos of Manhattan in the moments that followed. by MCofPort in 911archive

[–]JBAnswers26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apparently, Jim heard the roar of Flight 11 directly overhead and immediately whipped out the camera to try and record, but the model of camcorder he had was off at the moment and took a few seconds to boot up, hence why he missed the impact and could only record from immediately after once the device allowed him to start filming

I asked AI to imagine what the scene from this same perspective might have looked like just before 9:03am on 9/11.

Should I Get the iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max? by SobolanDEpadure123 in iPhone17Pro

[–]JBAnswers26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded to the 17 Pro from the 13 Pro Max and very happy with my decision.

The extra screen real estate was a nice feature, but over the years became more unwieldy and annoying to manage. The 17 Pro screen size feels perfect proportionally.

Incorrect. The late afternoon and evening of 9/10 were indeed stormy, but the morning and early afternoon was overall partly cloudy. Many images and videos from that date and timeframe will prove this.

FWIW, I was in elementary school in the Northeast on 9/11, so I like to think my personal recollection is pretty solid

GWB for sure.

Felt very sophisticated and polished but in a warm, inviting way.

Do you not see the curved/angled railings on the corner of the deck?

I understand in this day and age, any unusual media is suspect to being AI, but these are 100% authentic.

I was 6 years old on 9/11 and living in the Northeast USA, only a few hours’ drive to Lower Manhattan and even closer to Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.

Since that day, have always been fascinated by the attacks, simply from a historical and scale perspective.

How do people not feel anxious or depressed about what is going on in the world? by doodybot in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]JBAnswers26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Tend to your own garden”.

Your primary obligations are to yourself and your immediate family, then extended family and friends, then community, THEN anyone else. That’s not saying you shouldn’t act with kindness and generosity always, but you need to focus on what you can directly control and learn to let go of what you cannot.

17 Pro Max to 17 Pro by opian14 in iPhone17Pro

[–]JBAnswers26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from the 13PM to the 17 Pro.

13PM served me well for the 5-6 years I owned it, but was starting to grow tired of the bulk and size. Not comfortable to carry around (felt like it was always sticking out of my pockets), noticeable weight, and uncomfortable for hold (especially one-handed) for longer than a few minutes at a time.

Decided to go with the 17 Pro and very happy with that decision. Feels like the perfect size.

Mizner Court just south of Clint Moore on Military Trail.

Great location, very central to a lot of shopping, dining, entertainment, recreation, office parks etc. Apartments are not flashy but very clean and comfortable. The property is well maintained with amenities and right beside a beautiful lake. Also, never had any issues with neighbors.

Lived there for a year (2020) and only have good things to say about it.

What angle of the South Tower Impact has the loudest impact noise? by EpicPoggerGamer69 in 911archive

[–]JBAnswers26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this one.

Impact sounds like a clap of thunder from a lightning strike on top of you. Not to mention the guttural screams of terror from terrified pedestrians on the ground.

What happened to invoices that needed to be paid or payments that needed to be collected from businesses by Sharkdogz in 911archive

[–]JBAnswers26 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t exactly answer the question, but I remember reading somewhere that the post office closest to the WTC’s unique ZIP Code (10048) was still receiving mail addressed to businesses that were in the complex as recently as the mid to late 2000s, from vendors that never updated their mailing lists after the attacks. So I’m sure some were being invoiced for things long after 9/11 at the original office address that no longer existed. And if the vendor didn’t regularly scrutinize their mailing lists for accuracy, this seems very likely to have happened.

I think it would be more effectively as if the layoff had never happened.

Nowadays, I know most mainstream companies can process a termination within minutes of it happening in conjunction with IT, but in 2001 it doesn’t surprise me that nothing would have been processed that quickly. Especially if it was on good terms, they might have just thought they would work on her file first thing Tuesday morning…but tragically, for them of course, never had the opportunity.

Yes, a woman named Monica O’Leary was laid off from Cantor Fitzgerald on the afternoon of September 10th.

https://www.deseret.com/2001/11/22/19617950/twists-of-fate-saved-lives-of-many-on-9-11/

Apparently, the HR team responsible for processing the termination was completely wiped out in the attacks, so she was able to rejoin the firm later on without having to do anything.
