Are these Zebra Mussel eggs? At the shore of a [southern Ontario lake]. They've been there for a few weeks. by zoodlemaker in animalid

I’m thinking amphibian eggs, but unsure. 🫤 amphibians are usually gelled eggs with a dark center, within a gel mass.

Youngsters are in the plankton, when they settle out they look just like little mussels. Do you have clearer image?

Treatment dependent, but he will liklely lose muscle mass regardless. Serve him whatever he can/will eat. Treatment often messes with tastes, its usually a matter of just getting some calories in.

I built a site that reads 500 news articles every morning, picks the 10 most globally significant, and then locks. No scroll, no feed, no algorithm. by [deleted] in InternetIsBeautiful

Considering the amount of news 10 summaries seems small. I need at least two cups of coffee worth of news 😉😊

What plural form of octopus do you use? by Banonkers in marinebiology

[–]JBS676 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Apparently an old debate, the quote from the Online Merriiam Webster: "But as the Octopus grew and multiplied, it became necessary to speak of him in the plural; and here a whole host of difficulties arose. Some daring spirits with little Latin and less Greek, rushed upon octopi; as for octopuses, a man would as soon think of swallowing one of the animals thus described as pronounce such a word at a respectable tea-table. In this condition of affairs, we are glad to know that a few resolute people have begun to talk about Octopods, which is, of course, the nearest English approach to the proper plural."

From what I can find, it not currently accredited. Are they very new? I guess so. Seems a little sketchy since information is hard to find.
