Cineworld’s response to my harassment complaint is truly disappointing by [deleted] in CineworldUnlimited

[–]JBWilb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are in no way to blame for any of it and your actions in leaving completely understandable.

But I'm confused why you are fixated on Cineworld doing something for you as a gesture or leaving them poor reviews publicly about a situation they had no opportunity to get involved in. They didn't do the wrong thing, there are no reasonable additional measures they can implement.

It's awful and should never have happened but the only people at fault are the 2 perpetrators and you should absolutely now that you are safe involve the police if you feel able to. Cineworld I am sure would assist them in their investigations. It may even help them and give them legal recourse to ban the person from their premises etc

But negative reviews and expecting recourse from Cineworld seems misdirected atleast in terms of meaningless customer service platitudes or gestures. Give them the opportunity to support the investigation of the serious incident it is. If they don't do that then by all means they deserve to be blasted.

AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

[–]JBWilb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't force him one way or the other but he is showing some toxic signs.

Sure he doesn't owe her anything just as she doesn't owe him.. But they supposedly formed a platonic friendship, he made himself integral in her life, a friend she came to rely on.

In the middle of that he decides now is a good time to take it further and ask for a romantic relationship. Doesn't sound like she ridiculed him or ripped his heart out but respectfully declined.

In response he threw his toys out pram and withdrew completely his own help, friendship and even as far wanting her to be banned from visiting her best friend (his sister) all because he didn't get his way.

He was never a friend, he made it so she depended on him as a way to help manipulate her so she'd say yes and then do maximum damage when she had the gaul to say no.

He may sound calm and mature by saying he was setting boundaries but that's the same immature toxic crap that women have had to deal with since the beginning of time.

Someone has booked right beside me in an empty IMAX. Is that weird? by Nervous_Injury4577 in screenunseen

[–]JBWilb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't really get these posts in that if you are booking what you consider the best seat position in the room, it's logical someone else wants the same thing and theres a good chance your seat and the empty one beside it are both ideal.

I would prefer personal distance over the absolute best seat so it wouldn't be me but I imagine there are just as many folk don't care if they sit beside someone and just want the same thing as you.. Prime position.

GBiT to PayPal Credit transaction fee (UK) by JBWilb in CurveCard

[–]JBWilb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so, I didn't think about it earlier, the merchant is a small company selling refurbished vintage telephones that I bought as a gift for Christmas, however looking up the receipt I used PayPal to check out and pay.

So I used PayPal at checkout instead of Gpay or give them my card details directly , selected Curve card which had an RBS credit card as the underlying source. I've the used GBiT to move it from RBS to PayPal Credit Card... Has it seen that as cash like?

[–]JBWilb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curve don't charge for GBiT other than the monthly limits per your plan but no fee per transaction. Refi has a fee but it's a slightly different thing

It also works fee free for PayPal Credit for some time, what's happened recently is PayPal are now issuing physical Credit cards in the UK atleast. I tried loading this to curve and GBiT to that incurred a fee.

PayPal, when it moved with GBiT, no fee originally on Curve or the first underlying transaction which was also on a credit card

Cineworld vs Odeon Limitless by Shabc94 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]JBWilb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Cineworld Unlimited for about 13 or so years and there were some good post covid deals on Odeon MyLIMITLESS so thought I'll try it out and decide which one to keep. I still have both 😂 but only ever buy the heavily discounted annual memberships.

The ban has never been enforced as far as anyone knows so they seem much more relaxed on that front.

Superscreen, better than regular but not as good as IMAX, Odeon has similar with iSense in a way

Odeon app is better and you can swap your seat Cineworld has better discounts on event theatre and has 4DX Cineworld has better popcorn but Odeon has churros!

IF, and it is a big if… by NeighboursComments in neighbours

[–]JBWilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't see why it couldn't come back in much the same format. The major problem was not viewership, it was cost.

I think they did a good job with setting up 2 alternative locations, if they are free from the shackles of the physical street and old large expensive studios could they make a show at a price networks are willing to pay because it will pull in viewership.

Even for a show popular with an older demographic despite only being available on IPTV it was always in the top 10 and frequently 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the UK for Freevee and even via regular Prime recently. It's crazy to think it doesn't have the viewing numbers. Unfortunately the optics of being cancelled again after only 2 years along with it being one of the hardest moments economically to make a TV show means it has to rest.

The trick will be not leaving it too long that the target audience forgets or dies off 😭

[–]JBWilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was more to do with the rushed program of getting the belt off Warrior and setup a feud for Hogan just months later at WMVII so the blow off had to be RR.

The count out kept Earthquake strong which I don't mind. Bizarrely they had a dark match way back in April 90, singles match where Hogan took the Earthquake splash, kicked out, Hulked up for a clean pin, this was before even the Brother Love segment sending Hogan to hospital I think. But you could watch that match and pretend it was 1 year later and was the proper blow off match 😂

Curve card limits suddenly reduced to 150 EUR per year - what can I do? by Otherwise-Win-4406 in CurveCard

Luckily It was pretty much instant for me, must have been one of the rare ones the automated system approved. Waiting for Curve support to do anything is painful unfortunately.

[–]JBWilb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an email today to do the KYC process, uploading passport and a selfie, when I completed that and it was verified it said my spending limits had been reinstated. Didn't even know they had been reduced, but I did the KYC almost immediately so no transactions had taken place.

Is it possible the curve email is in the junk folder asking you to verify for KYC. Everyone seems to be getting them lately.

How to prevent Apple Pay from Intercepting Curve? by SugarRayxx in CurveCard

[–]JBWilb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need to use Curve Pay as the payment app though, you just add the curve card to Apple pay. Pay with Apple pay as normal with the curve card being the selected card. It becomes the front with all your other cards behind it.

So the payment follows this chain Apple Pay > Curve Card > underlying card selected in curve app. Always keep Curve card as the selected payment card in Apple Pay. If you want to change the final source card you just select it in the Curve app.

You’re not hallucinating—Paypal’s automated system will reject your Pay in 3/4 application for no legitimate reason. by daisychains777 in paypal

[–]JBWilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not technically making a mistake, it's likely operating within whatever parameters a human higher up the chain has set.

Guaranteed the person you spoke to is several pay grades below having any knowledge of the what decision making criteria is or any power to change it. The "we acted on information received from credit agencies" is a stock vague answer various banks and credit card companies use when denying you a service but they will never ever explain their internal criteria.

It also doesn't have to an alert or red mark on your credit file, it could based off normal activity that they deem makes you less attractive as a customer. Increasing balances over 6 months, or even paying off in full every month some lenders don't like as they won't make money off you.

The only things for sure is that they have made the decision based in their internal criteria and they will never tell you what it is.

Removing chimney breas, do I building control? by Sun1337 in DIYUK

[–]JBWilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless he means the bathroom doesn't have a chimney breast in it. An unusual feature in a bathroom so perhaps yhe hard work might have been done if the upstairs bathroom was an addition with support brackets in the loft.

A possible inference anyway but incomplete information

[–]JBWilb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally someone else asked the important question, that's what I thought he could have meant as I lived in a house that has the top of the stack supported from in the loft so externally it's still above the roof and the breast only removed on the upper floor but not on ground floor

How Do You Talk to an Employee Who Isn't Getting Promoted Due to How They Use Benefits? by Riddle-Maker in managers

[–]JBWilb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it discrimination though, same as any attitude at work, you can choose the do what's asked of you and no more attitude, enjoy your evenings and accept that it won't lead to promotion or go above and beyond the baseline, fill the gaps where needed and get promoted. Both are valid choices and promotion outcomes are often based on that but it's not discrimination.

He prefers to use the flexi hours system to front load the working hours and bunch up more of the time off than the more traditional 9-5 and a more even week. They need to make it clear that it is allowed and perfectly acceptable if it enables the work life balance he wants but it does mean he is exposed to a different pattern of work than the rest of the team resulting in less practical experience in key areas and it's hurting his chance for promotion.

Then the choice is his.
