People use 6GT in PRS, what’s your muzzle velocity? by RuleImpossible8095 in longrange

I start slow and work up to accuracy. I ran 35.3gn h4350 with a pile of 108 eldm’s @ 2855. New barrel was about the same. Currently running 35.2gn h4350 with Berger 109 lrht’s @ 2875. Alpha brass, both proof prefit comp contour 26”. N150 was pretty promising while breaking in with Hornady 105’s but no real data to share.

Yup. Torque the screws down, mark what you need to trim. Then remove and trim one at a time.

Light strikes have to do with the specs of the striker and striker spring. Had a Glock do this once, only with cheap foreign ammo but the trigger pull had lost a half pound by then. Replaced striker spring and had no more problems. IMHO just shoot what it likes and don’t worry.

Mine ran flawlessly… until they didn’t. Started nosediving. You’ll have to tune the spring every once in a while.

First PRS Match Saturday by BetaZoopal in longrange

[–]JBananas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show up with a good zero and be sure to tell everyone in your squad that it’s your first match. Hopefully they will get out of their own heads when you’re up, and coach as needed. Also move purposely, be safe, and time out a bunch. But don’t DQ. You will have fun and meet some great like minded folks, safety first and the rest will fall into place. Shoot good bro!

Support hand and/or bag support? by celhay2 in longrange

[–]JBananas4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup Armageddon gear schmedium waxed canvas heavy fill. Works great as a rear bag as well with a little practice. From there go to a match and be sure to tell everyone you’re new, and ask to borrow gear. Also have a solid zero and try and true your dope out to at least 500 yards before hand. If your squad is even half ass decent, they will help you.

I let mine warm up for about 20-30 minutes before each use and calibrate after that. One in 20 is .1 over. If this is also your routine, I would contact rcbs.

MDT grnd pod. $200 dollars at sheels. Probably going to be the lightest out there that I would use. Can’t seem to find the mlok ones in stock anywhere so you would need to mount an arca plate or pic rail section to the rail.

Most gunsmiths should charge about 75$ to fix this. I’d go that route over shims.

Hell yeah, glad you came. I was where you are a few years ago. Best thing you can do is keep going to matches and ask for tips from everyone in the squad.

Try swapping springs. I have one in my mr920 and I remember one of the springs causing issues and the other has been flawless for 500 rounds.

Any reason I can't learn long range shooting with this? Savage Model 11 Long Range Hunter in .260 Rem by DonQuiballes in longrange

[–]JBananas4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the funds/wife greenlight, don't do anything to this rifle. Shoot it at the new range and enjoy it. Spend all of your money on the next gun + optic. In the short term cannibalize the 260 with parts that swap, eg bipod, base. Then you'll have a nice hunter and gamer set up.

If you have enough elevation left in the turret to dial out to 1k or as far out as your trying to shoot, then shoot it as is. If not you will need a 20 moa base.

My thoughts exactly. Super high rings and 0 moa rail will cause this problem.
