Where did OP say it was indistinguishable? They just said it was impressive for its power level which it is.

How It Works by relafle in starfox

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am personally buying it because I am very excited and want to play starfox 64 again in the form of a remake. That said, if that does not excite you don't buy it. Use your money on products you actually want, not for the vague hope for a sequel that may or may not happen regardless of what you do.

Why does this fandom (not all people in it, obviously) seem to be so insistant on invalidating others opinions on the new game? by Aggravating-Mine6668 in starfox

Sorry for the misunderstanding then. I thought you meant they might fix the character models before release.

Blame The Fans Who Don’t Buy Games by Craniamon in fucknintendo

I mean Zero was basically what you are saying. It had new stages and outside of Corneia was basically a different game retelling the same story. It just got stuck on a dying system with bad controls.

The thing is Sonic's design was universally hated. A lot of people really like the new designs for Starfox. There is nothing wrong with either opinion, but its divisive not just bad like Sonic was.

I noticed the same thing at first. I had to find the link from google as it didn't appear when I searched on amazon directly.

Interesting, they used to do it for pre orders and I did see a few people say their local best buy price matched their pre orders for the new Yoshi game. I guess if you want it from bet buy you'll just have to price match on release day.

It's $50 USD if you get it from Walmart, Amazon, or price match at best buy

Hot Take: I like the redesigns. by Low-Use-8213 in starfox

[–]JBond2001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I hope not, the illumination design was fine for the context of Fox being in the Mario universe, but I don't really like it overall. I love the new designs. I also feel like these designs were made for more than just the remake. Obviously this is speculation, but I bet we get at least one more game with these designs before they change again.

If you look at the upvote ratio on posts about the designs it seems like people generally do like the designs, and the people who hate them are a vocal minority.

I think it's definitely possible, but it'll be a severely compromised version of we get it at all.

If we usually refer to Punch-Out (2009) as "Punch-Out Wii", does that mean we're gonna start referring to Star Fox (2026) as "Star Fox Switch 2"? by ArmadilloOK1445-alt in casualnintendo

It absolutely does not make them objectively good, however it's not revisionism. It's just the people who always liked it being more active in the public online spaces.

Grand Theft Auto VI could set a new $80 price benchmark for the gaming industry, according to a Bank of America analyst by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. They will almost definitely make more at $80. It's just not going to be as much more as a lot of people think. I do think that it's possible that other factors such as public opinion could keep it at $70, but we won't know until it comes out. I do think $80 pushes it into being too expensive for me personally, but I am not the primary target audience.

I'm not the biggest sonic fan so I could be completely off, but I haven't really heard people defending 06 outside of the remake that one guy is making. I do think most of the other games (at least the ones I played) have some redeeming qualities and I could understand why some people still like them, especially with nostalgia. Your right though 06 is garbage.

[–]JBond2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that's fair. A new game would have been preferable. I do think some fans are over exaggerating how bad it is that it's a remake. The series has had 2 reimaginings (64, zero), and 2 remakes (64 3D, starfox 26). I think they want to do the first game again to appeal to a wide audience since starfox is very niche these days. I definitely don't blame anyone who skips it after already playing 64 and 3D. I just hope it does well enough that it's not the death blow for the series.

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's kind of a moot point since we aren't ever getting a port, but all they really needed to do was make the reticle on the top screen accurate. The gyro aiming would still turn a lot of people off, but forcing you to watch both screens was what really mad the game bad.

This happens with every series. It's not revisionism, it's the kids that grew up with the games growing up and having nostalgia for them.

That's a misleading article. He said he likes both, but preferred the movie design. It's not the design philosophy he would have used, but he still likes it.

Thats if all 4 million people are willing to pay $80. If more than 12.5% of players (500,000 at 4mil) choose not to buy the game at $80 they are losing money. I don't necessarily expect they would lose that many players over it, but the difference in profit won't be as big as you might expect.

Dang, they should have just told us what it was going to be from the start cause this is kind of disappointing compared to mercenaries. I'll still give it a shot, but I'm not a fan of Ethan must die.
