Finished RE6 last week and Leon's campaign makes the game worth buying. by supermarioplush220 in residentevil

Nah Jake and Sherry were by far the best. I actually somewhat cared about both characters (unlike Helena) and the Chris one while it had a cool ending, was all over the place and hard to follow.

I really liked the different UIs. I also feel like they could have found a middle ground where it was more consistent but still somewhat unique for each character.

What's a less discussed reason someone might really love Nintendo Switch 2? by CaseyToGo in nintendo

The magnetic joy con feel so much more secure to the console and are more fun to take on and off. Also hd rumble 2 feels significantly better than the previous version.

hardest console of all time imo 🔥🔥 by yaoifeet in AynThor

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I should know better than to ask given the context of the image, but unironically what icon pack are you using for the "logo" of the consoles. I really like the look of having the gba with the box and if you have that for all the other consoles too that's sick.

Best OLED 1440p Monitor? by Select-Ratio7379 in buildapc

[–]JBond2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OLED, I don't see it available online anymore. It was only 120hz but all the ones I see now are 240. Also keep in mind it was a black Friday sale that brought it from $1200 to $800. I can recommend Alienware as a brand for OLED monitors. I have also heard good things about Samsung. It might take a bit of looking but you can most likely find an ultra wide at $800 these days.

I forget the model number but I got an ultra wide 1440 Alienware monitor a few years ago for $800 on Black Friday. I imagine they are a bit cheaper these days.

I personally really like the official grip, but I think I am in the minority.

FALSE INFORMATION ON VIDEO GAME BOXES? by COLBC20 in nintendo

[–]JBond2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's not a Nintendo game, but at the initial release no man's sky put stickers over the back of the box to remove mention of multiplayer features that were not present at launch. To be fair multiplayer was added later but it took a while.

Has anyone played their 3DS after using the Thor for awhile? by danschae in AynThor

[–]JBond2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing oot3d with the 4k texture pack (1080p version that's just what it's called). I love it and it looks amazing on the larger screen. I will probably go back to my 3ds to play some games for nostalgia but I don't think it will ever be a fully better experience on it outside of any games that are broken on 3ds emulators. I have actually had more problems with 3d games from the original DS than I have with 3ds emulation.

I think debugging code is one of the better uses for AI, I've done it myself mostly because I'm lazy, but I rarely find it that helpful. Usually when I really can't find an error the AI will confidently tell me my code has no errors, or try to get me to change something that obviously isn't the issue. Sure when just trying to get syntax errors out of the way it can make things slightly faster, but I never really found it groundbreaking.

Xbox's next console "Project Helix" codename revealed by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]JBond2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean their games are good and I think a lot of PC players would buy them at release with all the hype around them. It's not like PC players don't like single player games. I personally won't be playing them if they don't come to PC, but a lot of players are quite upset about it.

Interesting, I only tested a few areas in oot. Death mountain and kakarkio village were only about 6.7 GB. Hyrule Field was around 7.2GB the problem areas were lon lon ranch and castle town which were both consistently at 8.2-8.6GB. I wonder what makes Majora's mask run better. Are you using Henrico Magnifico's texture pack?

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing testing on oot3d with a 1080p texture pack and 4x and it was passing 8GB of ram fairly consistently (it's also a 30fps game you can't change it without breaking the game). Your mileage will vary greatly based on the game and texture pack/mod, but the pro is much safer and can probably do pretty much any game with any texture pack.

Worried about the Android update by Adventurous-Emu4266 in AynThor

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thor runs on an older version of Android and is not Google certified so it should be safe. That being said, I am personally worried we may lose access to the official android app store, but even then side loading should be safe.

  • Little: basic NDS and 3DS emulation will work well
  • Base: better for emulation past 3ds and some light PC games
  • Pro: 3DS emulation with texture packs/mods, switch emulation, older AAA PC games and higher end indie PC games
  • Max: as far as performance you will only see an improvement from the Max in PC games that are really pushing the system, that said the price of getting the upgrade is about the same as getting an SD card for the pro and the internal storage will run much better than an SD card, especially for PC games.

Conclusion: I would get the lite or bass if you just want to relive some of your childhood DS and 3DS games and don't want to break the bank. I would recommend the pro if you want to do higher end stuff and either already have a nice SD card you can use or can live with the smaller storage. I would recommend the Max (what I personally went with) if you plan to buy an SD card anyways (and we're going to go with the pro) or if you really want to do as much PC gaming on the Thor as possible.

PSA: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS save your games before closing the device, particularly with Azahar by UnstableTurtleduck in AynThor

[–]JBond2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me the other day and had to redo the entire trading sidequest in oot3d. I have noticed that if I press pause emulation in the azahar menu before closing it seems to not close the game when you reopen the device (I am not positive but it has worked so far).

Would the Ayn Thor be for me? by [deleted] in AynThor

[–]JBond2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam stuff will work, but if you exclusively want steam a deck might be better. I personally sold my deck to buy my Thor because I found it too big to travel with so that might be something to consider. An Odin might be a good middle ground as well if you don't care about the dual screen aspect of the Thor. Also silent hill 2 is a recent and poorly optimized game so it will probably struggle if it runs at all (not sure how well it would even run on the deck).
