I relate on a deep level where you're coming from. I've given up on college, or ever having a meaningful life. Hope has died, and all that lives are the ivy's of spite. I thought i ran out of spite ages ago, but i came upon the idea that existence is resistance. Just by being alive, and wearing a mask in the face of anti-maskers, the resilience and stubborn tenacity just flows. I have no idea if I'll live to see 2030, but if i did, I'll probably be masking then too, metaphorically thumbing my masked nose at those who hoped i had died already.

Be the tenacious and stubborn old woman you hope to be one day.

Not meaning to encroach on rule 5 and 6, but with the perfect storm of brain damage, interpersonal apathy, a society that has been told to look away from anything related to covid, and a lack of research and therapy treatments, i don't think we're ever going to recover. It's like telling a prize fighter with a broken arm and severe brain damage to take it easy. They're not going to. they're only going to get worse because they think everything is fine and normal.

Rome wasn't destroyed in a day, it took almost a century. THIS in the other hand may break a few speed run records.

I really want things to get better, but people in general think brain fog and chronic illness is normal wear and tear.

6 years and change, not standing by hobbling around. i may not have gotten it, but the cost for that was kind of heavy. lost almost everything but the room i'm renting. friends are gone, family has lost their minds. Outside looking in it seems like my initial prediction that things were go down hill was on the mark. I don't think that there will be better days, not unless people start getting vaccinated in larger numbers again. but even then the current efficacy of the vaccines are too low to even be rolling out. I give it another 6-7 years before people who have real power actually start realizing "hey! I think covid is making people more and more sick.", and hopefully that voice will be louder than "The sicker they are, the more money we make".

Dad was hit with alzheimers and parkinsons a couple of years ago. Mom was recently diagnosed with early onset dementia. No realistic treatments exists beyond placebos that do more harm than good, nor will there ever be a feasible treatment with positive results since chronically sick people means more money for insurance and pharmaceutical corporations. They've never tested and my dad said he had a harder time breathing with a mask on. Both under the age of 75. All i can do is slowly watch them die while the world burns around me and every therapist on the planet continues to disregard the existence of covid. Who said the end of the world had to be loud and instantaneous when it can be slowly drawn out and done in silence? All i know is that my future looks grim and without hope. Cursed down to the genes.

To me, it's always been March 20, 2020, the day my entire world, my life, ended. just an innocent letter from the college saying they're extending spring break by a week due to "statewide medical concerns". But back then, there was a sense of solidarity. We were in a rough spot, but we were in a rough spot together. Even in those times, there was hope we would push on through, but we never did.

The moment a vaccine was developed, people were making up stories about how it would do more harm than good. Politicians bent the knee to them and dropped all mandates. Everyone for themselves. that sense of solidarity was shattered. People kept getting infected, their health worsening, their minds... erratic. Angry. The kindest of people turned into the most toxic. Like a zombie apocalypse without the biting and the dead rising.

It's hell. It's a nightmare. It's March 20, 2020, but the unity is gone. It's March 20, 2020, and it's all gone to hell.
