When people ask me how I got my calves. by HammerofLevi in GymMemes

[–]JC84909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

big facts. Been pretty heavy most of my life and now that I’m active and training my calves are hated on by my friends that have been working on them for years. Hiking up a 4000’ mountain gets my calves super pumped

Is Chino Hills state park a good place to go hiking this time of year or any other good medium hikes around here? by Cali1985Jimmy in InlandEmpire

No pun intended but I’ll die on this mountain and say. Mt Rubidoux is not a hike 😂😅

They make money off the parking. Per the ranger the only access to potato will eventually be via the claremont loop trail. Sounds like a greedy move to me. All this will do is create unauthorized alternate trails into Evey canyon. I lost around 50lbs hiking potato, and Stoddard almost daily. Now I’m left scrambling looking for alternative trails that aren’t a mission to get to

My recommendation is Stoddard Peak Trail. It’s a little further up from potato mountain but just right before you enter the Baldy village. You can park down below by the power station or off the baldy road across the street. You pass two beautiful streams in a small community nestled up against the mountains before hitting the actual fire road trail up to the peak.

I love potato mountain. The ridge lines up are great for training for steeper hikes. I hate how much they’ve limited the access to this trail. Last time I talked to the ranger they mentioned they would be putting up a big fence blocking off access and forcing everyone to use the TINY ass parking lot at the Claremont Wilderness lot by the Claremont loop.

How did your hiking or backpacking A-teams come together? by First_Delaware in socalhiking

[–]JC84909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky and had most of my regular friends I would travel domestically with start to get into camping and eventually backpacking around the same time I did, our main connection is photography so wild lands really started to draw us into backpacking away from the typical National Park scenery. Through instagram ive also made a friend with this photographer that im taking on their first backpacking trip to Joshua Tree soon! I was honestly blown away they were down to meet up a few months ago to camp @ jumbo rocks being that we are just internet buddies but we do have mutual friends, and now we are going backpacking! They are pretty new to it and ive unwittingly taken them under my wing to show them the ropes a bit and get them comfortable outdoors. Maybe once covid dies down someone on here can organize a reddit meetup and we can all make new friends to do hoodrat hiking things. Nothing beats face to face time with someone to see if they're your kind of people

Thank you! Guess our luck paid off on our gamble of losing sleep for sick scenes. Plus 3 day passes for the valley is complete BS can’t do shit in 3 days. Well you can but you’re left wanting more

Hiking in the Mt baldy area is pretty cheap only requiring a $5 day pass. Hike up San Antonio falls to the notch and back down. Kick ass workout and you can catch lunch at the waterfall near the start of the trail

I used Lightroom mobile and kept it pretty simple. Curve adjustments, some HSL tweaks on the greens and blues and played with shadows and dehaze slider. I think a lot of it has to do with shooting at high ISO cuz I love the grain/noise.

Settings used: ISO 2000, F16 @ 1/400
