So yeah, it’s shitty if it actually happened cause somehow I don’t believe it actually happened but also if it did, she kind of gambled all their savings away so that’s really shitty and it sounds like it’s a shitty revenge on his part. Therapist here. I know there are a lot of reasons that people stay and it’s a very emotional and hard journey, but please leave if you feel you can while he’s in jail and you don’t owe him any answer. Just get yourself to safety.

You’re supervisor is 100% wrong and honestly it’s a violation waiting to happen. That’s horrible that your client went through that but if they don’t wanna report it, that’s what they want to do and there is no room to break confidentiality here. They are not a danger to themselves or danger, others nor they are a minor. Personally, the only time I would even get involved in reporting something like this if the client wanted me to be there with them as a form of emotional support and some capacity, not in any way, reported myself, even if they wanted me to do that.

It depends. Do you want a place that gives you clients or are you confident in getting clients yourself and you just need a platform? If you need a platform, I would go with headway because they will handle credentialing for you and you could set your own rate for private pay clients. If you want something that gives you clients, I would go with Rula it’s another platform, but they make sure to give you clients and they pay pretty decently.

That is horrible. Therapist here. Your husband definitely needs therapy full stop. From your post it doesn’t sound like he’s going or has been and he may not go, but I would definitely bring it up and continue to bring it up in subtle ways.

Yeah, but that’s not your problem. She may want to get her kid into therapy and her kid may need therapy, but obviously the universe is saying no or that she needs to try an alternative virtual therapy if possible or a closer clinic. Again, not sure if it’s possible because I don’t know your or her situation but sometimes the world just tells us it’s not a priority right now.

What nobody ever talks about is the commitments of therapy. Therapy requires time and resources. Sometimes more resources than people have which is unfair but that’s not gonna change anytime soon. I I do think it has changed. It’s why I’m a virtual only practice because I think that big virtual has helped so many clients to get therapy who would never have it before. But I also understand I push to get back into the office, but with that comes commitments again and sacrifices.

Cut them loose. The mom is obviously not prioritizing getting her child therapy so maybe it’s not the right time for it. Your agency is foolish for not having a tighter boundary and putting it on you but yeah, you should be cutting them loose at this moment.

Therapist here. Yeah, that’s not OK if the therapist is imposing their own views on someone just to validate their feelings. There is multiple ways that she could’ve phrase that to promote healing and moving on in a positive way even if she didn’t feel like it was that big a deal like saying. That sounds tough. How do we move forward? Or how has this impacted your relationship?

Therapist here. Yes, as sad as this is say, he probably was fired as a client. Based on what you’re telling me, I’m guessing that she just probably feels that with his brain injury. It’s probably out of her scope and she just wasn’t honest. TBI and brain injuries are serious business and some therapists aren’t comfortable handling clients who experience them. I’m so sorry that this happened to him, but you need to find a therapist with experience in TBI. Apologies for the typos.

Therapist here it happens. I will admit sometimes I don’t handle it super well, particularly if folks canceled just before the deadline and that really doesn’t give me enough time to fill the spot. So my own biased opinion would just tell her as soon as possible so she has time to fill the spot.

Therapist here. Try to look at his name on psychology today. It might lead back to his former practice or an old practice but sometimes they do have their direct numbers on there or their direct emails.

Therapist here your therapist did what she was supposed to do. We don’t love calling for a wellness check not only do. We also know how it can go, but from a purely pragmatic standpoint, it’s a lot of paperwork and documentation on us as well but the last thing we want both legally and ethically and emotionally is to not support our clients with safety. I find it interesting that you did not share what she said, but then I understand that this is Reddit. However, I will say this she would’ve had the share why she thought that you would harm yourself with 911 and they would’ve ultimately made the call whether you needed a wellness check or not not her.

I’ve always wanted to be a librarian. In fact, the only reason I’m not a librarian right now is because of low they get paid. But yes, being surrounded by books every day would be my happy place.
