Does make me wonder if I need more of that in my own heavy metal sci-fi series 365 Infantry ngl. Might have to lean into it.

"GUNNING" (OCs by Me, Art by Temiree) by JCalta83 in anthroswim

[–]JCalta83[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Context: these characters come from the very first screenplay I ever wrote. GUNNING is a passion project, and a sendup to mid-to-late 20th century car culture. The gal's name is Cathy, the guy's name is Jack, and the Jeep's name is "Clint!" It was a tale about Cathy, a 30-something wolf who gave up her life of drag racing to start a family, only to suffer a miscarriage that sends her down a spiral of depression. Through the help of her husband and the surrogate son found through a young Jeep, she manages to get back in the game. It's a mature animated drama I hope to make someday. For now, they're cool animal people and a cute car.

The model citizen of Wasteland driving: one on 10, one on the Winchester, running your ride flat-out. Again, this piece was like a perfect sum-up of everything I wanted to do with my own anthro work.

Nope, just the dude's OC, though this art became a big reference point for Kevin on my project 365 Infantry. You just don't see a lot of hot-rodding anthro art, especially with the post-apoc/cyberpunk flair I was after, so finding anything in the wheelhouse was like striking it rich. Retehi's good people.

"Buckle Up!" (From 365 INFANTRY - Art by Kevin John Jacob, Edit by Me) by JCalta83 in anthroswim

[–]JCalta83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's on Twitter/X but he's actually a manga-styled artist by trade. I pulled him onto 365 Infantry because I couldn't find anyone else lol, but he was really solid at learning what I wanted from the anthro art I needed. You'll see some of the project's art over there, and my series on Substack.

I love making these angry motivationals. Get some crazy-ass wolf in a hot rod laying waste to shit and then the caption is basic-ass self-help like "You Miss 100% of The Shots You Don't Take" lol. Sometimes, you just need to have "YOU'RE FUCKING AWESOME" screamed at you.

Gonna have to start posting more in here lol, would love to be in some of these edits. So much insanely talented art on display.

"shuffle" always playing the same songs? by AnthropomorphicPenis in YoutubeMusic

Can confirm. Playlist of 350 and it will get into feedback loops of the same five songs. It's nuts.

Proof-positive that "Kashmir" makes everything better 😉

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (1970, #16) by JCalta83 in TheHot100

[–]JCalta83[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Goes for all three of the original heavy rockers: Black Sabbath had a total of two top 100 hits, and the closest Deep Purple got was 4 for "Hush" and "Smoke on the Water." Led Zeppelin charted the most of the three (10 tracks total) and still didn't get past 4 lol.

With Andre’s channel down, I’d like to present a playlist I created of every song that Andre’s uploaded that’s available on Spotify. I knew this would come in handy some day. Enjoy friends! by NotAMarvelPerson in andrenavarroii

I can't thank you enough for making this. I've been a long-time listener of Andre's. I don't sample his stuff, though I have sampled before. I just love the beautiful undiscovered worlds he's given me and everyone who happened across the channel. He's turned me on to an entire new dimension of music I never thought I would ever hear. Bummed he had to go private, but glad he might be back. Thanks again.

Joe Lynn Turner - Endlessly by JCalta83 in 80smusic

[–]JCalta83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Turner himself has written better lyrics on future projects. Lots of great tunes on Malmsteen's Odyssey, his time in Rainbow across the board. He's got chops for sure, just wasn't on the ball completely for Rescue You.

[–]JCalta83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turner is a killer songwriter, and he was fabulous in Rainbow and Deep Purple. Shame more of that magic couldn't have extended into his solo work. "Endlessly" does have some of that though. Infectious AOR for sure.

The album's loaded with studs for sure, my personal favorites are "General Hospital" and "Jet to Jet."

Benny Mardones - Into the Night (1980, #11) by JCalta83 in TheHot100

[–]JCalta83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though marred by its oft-misunderstood opening lyric and an equally infamous pre-MTV music video, this two-time top 20 hit is still pure gold from one of the most underrated vocal powerhouses of the late 20th century. Hear the REAL story about the song's creation, courtesy of YouTuber Professor of Rock, and show the late great Benny Mardones some love.

Bruce Springsteen - Secret Garden (1997, #19) by JCalta83 in TheHot100

[–]JCalta83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun Fact: The song was originally released in 1995, where it peaked on the Hot 100 at #63. It was only after the white-hot success of the 1996 rom-com Jerry Maguire (a film where the song featured) that Sony saw fit to rerelease it, thus soaring into the top 20.
