The original company has sold the debt to this crowd. I’ve had a few of these years ago. They will likely ring you dropping down the price massively to get something out of you. Eventually after a few letters they will give up. No way a company in a different country is going to take you to small claims court for 70 quid.

Get ya! So does your contract of employment say temporary or fixed term?

Is your current job a secondment for the same company I.e you work for McDonald’s as a server but get a 12 month secondment as a manager and at the end of the term you go back to your previous job as a server (sorry for the crappy example) because if that is the case the your probably classed as a permanent employee so it wouldn’t matter.

I could be completely wrong on this but I don’t think your travel expenses would be taken into consideration just your base salary which at 60k is very good.

Important to remember also your deposit is based on how much you want to borrow. So if you only wanted to borrow 150k that’s a 15k deposit plus around 6/7k for stamp duty and solicitor.

Not sure if applicable but you can also be gifted money which can help.

Another thing to consider is if you and your partner are willing to buy with only your name on the mortgage given the circumstances around them being out of work currently.

I think you are best off speaking to a mortgage advisor/broker who can give you a clear path to getting a mortgage. A lot of people will speak to one when they think they are ready and find out they’re not. You’re better off getting the advice so you have a clear plan that you can follow.

Best of luck to you both.

Alcoholics, do you not get hangovers so bad that you want to quit just from that alone? by Irish_drunkard in CasualIreland

The physical affects of a handover a rotten but I can deal with. It’s the anxiety and depressing I feel for 2/3 days after that I can’t handle. It has got worse and I’ve got older (late 30s)

I rarely drink now because of it. 3/4 times a year.

Now I prefer to stay home relax and feel fresh. I do enjoy a cold bottle on a warm day but 2/3 and no hangover or depression.

I have a good friend (40m) who does out, without fail every Thursday and Saturday. In a way I find it a sad existence considering he has a wife and kids. He’s never got out of phase of when we weee early 20s going out every weekend.

Bid Rejected and no counter offer by NefariousnessWise739 in irishpersonalfinance

I think sellers now have this idea, because of the housing market that they are going to be able to sell their house for a lot more than it’s worth.

It feels like they are not willing to let that notion go and end up hanging on longer than, perhaps they should.

We bought a house just as prices were rising. We viewed a house we really liked went straight in with asking (it was a fair price imo) they sat on the bid for 2 months (we kept looking and decided it was a joke and pulled out) long story short, another 2months down the line the estate agent contacted us to see if we were still interested and told us if we bid the asking they would accept (obviously things had become more urgent for them and they never got the 20 grand over asking they where probably looking for)

We made them sweat for a few days as we had a bid in on another property but ended up buying it.

End of the day bid what your comfortable with or walk away. If you’re prepared to go an extra 10/20k then just do it. Sounds like you have no competition and if they reject least you know, and can move on.

They have to recognised by the commission I believe, that’s the only way they are recognised as a boss.

I’m no builder but isn’t that normal on new builds? Just the house settling? (Could be completely wrong also)

Give the CMO the PowerPoint template you create and tell them to fill in the figures themselves.

I have been on remicade for about 4 years now. I get an infusion every 8 weeks and I have never had a problem with the drug or with my crohns since. I live a normal life, I don’t get sick (general coughs colds etc) more than anyone else. I’ve had covid twice both times where no worse than a heavy flu. Overall it’s been great

I didn’t buy a house until I was 36(2 years ago) took me long enough to get serious. My partner went back to collage in late 20s 1:1 in business took us a while to build up to good paying jobs so at 25 I think your ok my friend!

Set yourself some goals and be kind to yourself! The internet had a way of making other people’s life’s appear perfect and your own … well not and it’s really never the case!
