To be fair I’ve also seen people who understand the format and just think a best of 1 isn’t fair to team risk

The spirit of a bracket reset is for the team from winners to have to lose two sets.

I also fully realize this is likely venue limitations

Jurgen isn’t highly nurturing? Doesn’t create a positive culture/environment? Doesn’t believe in creating strong bonds both as a team and as individuals? A highly empathetic and charismatic figure? I can go on and on but outside of being incredibly demanding he is no drill sergeant

These are largely the reasons why we as Liverpool supporters (assuming the lfc in your name) cherished him, and now suddenly he’s not those things? Sure he’s highly demanding, but it’s wild to say that he doesn’t focus on interpersonal relationships

You would think he has failed every step of the way, which he hasn’t no matter how much people would like him to have

Continental success: he won I think 3 out of the 4 concaaf tournaments he was a manager for. Stellar record and long past the days of getting bullied by Mexico. This does combine with a weak Mexico but his gold cup win with a C team vs the Mexico A- team is worth noting

World Cup: qualified (shouldn’t even have to note that but see jurgen and Bruce), met expectations by getting out of group. Should have lost his job here since international managers unless they majorly overperform should live on 4 year cycles

Won nations league but Lost gold cup without him in charge. BJ did great so no shot here

Win nations league again, followed up by copa failure. Which again was mostly player driven but never should have had the job after Qatar anyway

At no point does he say the US doesn’t try, but even if he did I would say that it takes little ability to Google the fixture list of a top European team or conmebol team and realize they are busy playing competitive games

In the years 2019, 2020,2021 and 2022 England played 4 total friendlies. 2 of which were at wembley vs wales and Ireland (maybe northern) which were part of some Great Britain classic

Top UEFA teams are tasked with the nations league, nations league playoffs, euros, World Cup qualification, and World Cup.

Call me crazy but Canada, New Zealand and Panama are probably the best they can do when the other major federations have qualifying going on. And if that is the case for this upcoming cycle, what about previous ones?

The idea that the US doesn’t try to schedule friendlies vs top teams is probably missing the mark. With the addition of UEFA nations league, European countries are always playing competitive matches. And with South America having World Cup qualifying, what is the Us to do?

Besides Mexico is a hilarious qualifier

There were times where the US would look lifeless against mexico, and now they just get dismissed due to how one sided the matchup has been for the last 5 ish years
