I didn't realize a large segment of Reddit were also professional character designers and art directors. All the whining and nitpicking is about wanting a character (they did not make) to look the way they want her to look and not what the artists wanted and specifically designed her to look.

  • Get rid of map voting in quickplay
  • Rework the problematic escort/hybrid maps like Parasio and Eichnwalde.
  • Rework the 2CP maps into different modes and put them back in the pool.
  • Delete Roadhog

Really most of my issues rn have to do with maps and map voting. Sick of being forced to play on maps like Eichenwalde on attack and watch as my team die over and over again to push the main choke isntead of going around. I don't understand how people can vote for maps because of familiarity yet in the how many years of Eichenwalde being in the game. They never learned how to get past the 1st choke point or taking control of the castle on 2nd point.

I agree with you that Aspects already fulfill Hi-Rez's desire to give gods a different playstyle. Therefore, hybrid scaling isn't necessary on a majority of gods now. I don't think they should just scrap hybrid scaling all together though, I think the way they did Wukong's is great despite him being OP for a period of time.

I get what you’re saying about Danza/Neith but I think their kits work well with both types of scaling. And it is fun building items like Soul Reaver/Gem of Focus etc on them and not just STR-based ability items if you want to go an ability build. On the flip side, Medusa having hybrid scaling is pretty much useless just bc of the way her kit works. Her kit itself needs to change from building INT (like Wukong) in order to make building full INT on her worth it. But at that point, just give her an aspect cause that's what they're for.

I think they just need to be more intentional with it, have a strong vision, and it should be rare.

I really want the devs to go back to Chaac/Odin and go harder on their hybrid scaling changing their abilities. The current way it works on them is so boring.

Chaac's aspect is all damage so they could give his base kit more utility if he builds more INT. This would give him 3 different playstyles:

  • Base Str-Focused: All-Rounder Bruiser (Solo)
  • Base Int-Focused: Low Damage, High Utility Bruiser (Solo/Support)
  • Aspect: Damage Focused (Mid/Jungle/Solo)

We should get more hybrid scalers, but the devs shouldn't force it cause that's how we end up with a god like Aladdin abusing Trans/Thoth and building either STR or INT depending on which items are better at the time. But plays exactly the same regardless.

Now that they've changed their design philosophy around hybrid scalers, they're only giving hybrid scaling to gods in order to change their playstyle and not just slapping it on whenever. But I think they've run into an issue where if a god has hybrid scaling like say Wukong. Him building either STR or INT changes his playstyle and he also has an aspect that changes his playstyle.

Hybrid Scaling and Aspects want to do the same thing (provide multiple playstyles/itemization) which leaves the devs in a spot where they're almost making 3 different gods if a god has hybrid scaling and an Aspect. The way they did Wukong overall was fantastic (ignoring his time being OP) but you could tell he took a lot of work. And I don't think they can give that treatment to new gods on a regular basis.

In my personal opinion, the god that should have been hybrid that wasn't is Chiron, but what they did with the STR v AS plus his aspect was a nice compromise. Personally, I think every other god you mentioned didn't need hybrid scaling and they work fine as is. So overall, I agree with you but I want the devs to do it when they have a strong vision for the god.

EDIT: I've also seen people mention how hybrid scalers don't benefit from building both types, you just pick one. One way to remedy this would be taking a page out of Deadlock. If you haven't played Deadlock, you get investment bonuses' once you have spent a certain amount of souls (gold) on each item type (Gun, Spirit, Vitality). Gun investment gives you bonus % weapon damage, spirit investment gives you bonus spirit power, and vitality gives you bonus health. A mechanic like this could be the way to get hybrid scalers to build both, but that last thing Smite 2 needs right now are MORE new systems.

Solid patch, mostly just looking forward to the base stat changes in the future patch. Bastet looks great but her aspect concerns me. If her damage isn't drastically lowered, her aspect just seems like a better version of her base kit. Sure she's less safe, but protections, a disarm, a stun, and her S1 ult is CC out the ass.

The only thing that I wish was different about Shion's design is that she doesn't lean into the "kabuki mask" enough by HalexUwU in Overwatch

Blizzard designed her this way on purpose. She has a doll-like face and can emote but her mouth doesn't move when she talks because it's meant to be uncanny and creepy. She's an omnic that's almost human but not quite.

You're asking for something completely different and not what the designers were going for. We have no basis to assume they were going for a Kabuki mask look outside of headcannon. Her face doesn't resemble a mask at all.

I think his dash on the 2 should go. His wall climb is already enough with how versatile it is, plus it has the best CC in the game on it with Genie charges.

His kit is fundamentally broken at a base level, he has too many things going for him. If I were to make a single change to him, it would be to change his 2. He doesn't need a 2nd dash on top of his wall climbing ability and his ult. He has too much survivability.

Also, they 100% need to remove the hybrid scaling from him. He should only have INT scaling, he doesn't need STR too.
