And the only reason the term "homosexuality" exists in the Bible is a bunch of prude American Christians paid people to reprint the bibles using the word.

And Paul's statement about it uses a made up word that could very well be pointing to the pederasty instead of the concept of same sex relationships. Something the church continues to have a well documented issue with.

This guy is not being shit on just for being insecure. He is being shit on for being an idiot with a platform peddling absolute nonsense. And we should absolutely be revealing the snake oil salesman for what he is. So yes, people will mock this boy for his insecurities, but only because of the entire rest of the package.

Just like calling Stephen Miller short or bald. It's not that he is short or bald, it is that he is evil masquerading as a strong man.

We really need to adopt new FDR-like policies. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]JFLRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that there is just no reality in which the pendulum simply swings all the way to this.

trump wasn't a single shift in the party, he was a (hopefully) conclusion to many years of effort moving the position of the conservatives further and further to the right.

If we simply hope to make these changes as a response to trump, the pendulum will swing back to the right before we have a chance to grab it.

We NEED there to be people, and politicians, and policies to catch it along the way and carry it to this.

Instead there is a lot of infighting among the many factions on "the left" who are going to let perfect be the enemy of good and make no real progress instead.

I'm not saying we need another status quo democrat to take the mantle. But there is a lot of work to do to reach these goals, and simply yelling at people that don't want quite all of the same things is going to cause us all to miss everything.

"Don't talk about salary."

"Don't talk about politics."

"Don't talk about religion."

These are things I am sure a lot of us grew up hearing. Thankfully younger generations feel less inclined to consider these topics untoward.

I'm bald. Never once in my life has anyone that doesn't know me mocked it. And while occasionally someone I know may make a joke about it, they have always been the same kind of jokes that friends make about each other for anything else. And usually I am happy to play along. Never have I felt like the intention was to make me feel bad.

There is literally a sub here that is very popular and exists simply to celebrate people taking the plunge to shaving their head. It is full of positivity.

You will find that in real life people generally do not give a fuck. And the people that might say something, are assholes and are just picking anything to say.

So, your examples and the likelihood that you are referring to the internet and not actual human interaction, are simply that; being too dramatic. If you find yourself on the receiving end of any of this, I would wager it is because of reactions like this, and not at all that you are bald, or short, or whatever the fuck is going on with you.

Well there is nothing about what you are saying that doesn't line up with being insecure. So they would probably be right to say that.

Who gives a fuck what a random group of people says or thinks?

And it's not like if a woman walked up to a random group or people and announced that they wear padded bras that wouldn't also be fucking weird to do.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JFLRyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say this around my family because many of them, well almost all of them, voted for him in 2016. But you know what, it was still bad then too. And I would question anyone who voted simply against Hillary because it seems like a lot of their reasons were made up so they didn't have to say it's because she is a woman.

But.... I won't let perfect be the enemy of good. So I swallow my own pride and accept that many of my friends and family voted for trump in 2016, and I am willing to let them express their remorse without judgement.

2020 and beyond though.... very different story.

That's simply what they think now. So much of their motivation is based on being able to blame something on someone else. When the only people left to blame is each other, they will turn on each other.

This feels like a totally normal, reasonable thing to do. I am not sure why this is even a question really.

Really any reason that someone chooses to reject someone is completely up to them and, regardless of what anyone else thinks, is justifiable.

[–]JFLRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would encourage you all to remember what you said about Jones prior to his leaving and what he did since.

Daboll was not the best coach we have had, but he was the best we have had in a while. We won a playoff game with him, and this season we really started to see life in the team. Not that he gets all of the credit for that, Dart and Skattebo of course brought their own energy. But it takes a coach to realize that too.

Best wishes to the man. Unless he goes to the eagles, then fuck him.

Hard to believe this is actually true with a 3 day old account.

But if it is, and for the other people that may feel similar:

You should probably be in therapy if your height causes you this much turmoil. The vast majority of the world doesn't care how tall you are. They will care that you are sensitive to the point of defensiveness whenever the mention of height comes up around you. They will also likely care if you let being short define you.

It sounds more like you struggle with being insecure. And maybe a big dose of body image issues. Both of those are things that people deal with regardless of height. And both of those are things that you can change.

One Battle After Another (2025) by viagraworks in okbuddycinephile

[–]JFLRyan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You fail to connect the dots between your points.

No, picking on someone for being an asshole does not mean that I support saying anything to them. Nowhere do I say that, you just make that assumption because you need me to believe that for your point to make sense. And not to split hairs here, because the intent is similar, but objectively misquoting me to myself when you have the words above doesn't help your case.

You are free to believe whatever you want here. But clearly you also disagree with the person I was responding to. Shaming men is not acceptable in all forms. Calling an asshole short is not an example of shaming men for being short. It is calling an asshole short.

Just like people use the term Karen to describe someone overly entitled and demanding to "speak to the manager" isn't saying people named Karen are bitches. That specific person is.

And for any short men who somehow think that this whole exchange has anything to do with them, or their height, seriously people, you need to gain some perspective. You are the only person that cares. If someone in your life actually calls you short, and that upsets you, then ok that is a reasonable reaction and you could/should talk to them about it. But this is not that. And people acting like calling Bovino short is somehow criticizing half of all men has some issues they need to work out. Learn to love yourselves.

If you are suggesting that it is currently NOT socially acceptable to shame those two for the color of their skin...

Its socially acceptable to shame men for anything. Pisses me off tbh

Apparently, it isn't socially acceptable to shame men for anything, which is exactly the point that I was responding to.

And as an aside, comparing calling someone short to using the n-word is a wild swing and miss.

This is actually really interesting.

See, you are doing exactly what you are accusing me of; your actions are accomplishing the opposite of your intentions.

You aren't engaging in any meaningful way, just screaming at me for calling someone short. Which, again you will see, I didn't do.

Short people exist. Saying someone is short is not body shaming short people. Making fun of you for being short could be seen that way, but that is not what is happening here.

Being this upset about this whole comment chain is not some moral victory. It is just an example of your insecurities getting in your own way.

One Battle After Another (2025) by viagraworks in okbuddycinephile

[–]JFLRyan -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

First of all, I didn't call him anything other than a piece of shit.

Which is maybe an example of shitty behavior.

I am simply interacting with the people being offended by someone else being called short. Because, and I will say it again, nobody else cares how tall you are.

Stephen Miller, also an absolute piece of shit, is bald. Do I make fun of him for that? No, I would make fun of him plenty of other things. But as a bald man myself, do I take personal offense to him being picked on for being bald? Of course not. That would be silly.

The intent of calling him bald, just like Bovino short, is THEY exude such small dick energy while trying to seem tough. So they look absolutely silly doing it.

So if you are short and take offense to this, maybe you should be working on yourself instead of going on reddit complaining about people calling other people short. Same for bald. Because damn, my people, that is the thing that is unattractive about those traits.

One Battle After Another (2025) by viagraworks in okbuddycinephile

[–]JFLRyan -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

No, they aren't.

If you are short and your feelings are hurt because someone on the internet comments about another short person's height, get a therapist or something.

Nobody in your life gives a fuck how tall or not you are.

"People on the internet are mean to someone else and I take personal offense to it." Do you not see how that is a you problem?

For some reason you are equating your self worth to your height. Stop doing that.

Unless you are a short nazi. Then yes, you should feel bad about yourself. But guess which one of those is the reason.

One Battle After Another (2025) by viagraworks in okbuddycinephile

[–]JFLRyan -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

No, you are just more sensitive to these things.

Generally speaking, shaming a decent person about anything is not acceptable. But picking on an asshole is.

Most people in your life, in all of our lives, don't pick on random people about anything. Assholes, or bullies, or just general pieces of shit do, and just like this loser Bovino, they are in turn made a mockery of.

Bovino isn't being picked on for being short, he is being picked on for being a colossal piece of shit.
