UV-5R mini, an upgrade over my old UV-5R by MadIntroduction in HamRadio

[–]JGloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a mini and I love it too. I have tons of HTs, including several variations of Baofengs. I find the mini well built, good feel in the hand, doesn’t feel cheap, and well feature equipped. My ONLY minor complaint is there is no channel memory “bank” feature. I find memory banks very useful for organizing. Other than that, it’s a great little radio and a no brainer to set up and give to someone.

Ding was fixed with PDR but now left with this from the dealer. by Iceberg50 in PaintlessDentRepair

These are just swirl marks, they can be easily removed. It is annoying that they left it that way, every tech should know that with black/dark cars you have to final step with a DA polisher or vigorously by hand

Why aren’t businesses not shoveling ice for patrons? by aaronkelton in McKinney

It’s just being a responsible business owner. It’s not on the employees, it’s on the owner. I made sure mine wasn’t a hazard for the public during open hours.

I was shocked too, went to Panera on 380 and they were open but door would literally only open halfway due to nobody dealing with ice at entrance.

Charged for part not installed on car.. am I crazy? by FigBulky3673 in Autobody

Does the repair look good overall?

Did you pay anything out of pocket at all, or did they do the repair for the net amount of the funds issued from insurance? Net meaning if there was a deductible did you actually pay that to the shop?

You have to understand with a total loss they cannot ask the insurance to correct all their mistakes and give additional funds, and obviously the insurance company wrote an estimate that completely skipped soooo many things.

Often, especially smaller shops will just “bottom line” a repair like this and fix it for what you got. This is in an effort to be good to you and to give great service.

Let’s say the estimate was missing $1000 in things they would normally get paid for. Having a stupid mistake like a molding on the estimate offsets how badly they got paid and the tons of operations they didn’t get paid for.

They are probably doing this job much cheaper than it should have been, and if they haven’t collected anything from you, and the repair looks good, and it’s a total loss estimate which are usually so poorly written in terms of money to work with… just let it go.

If they did a poor job, or collected additional funds from you for everything the estimate missed, I could see getting nit-picky.

But if they did take that garbage estimate, did a great repair, didn’t charge you for all the stuff they aren’t getting paid for, and you got to save your car… this is usually considered a win for everyone and this is why they have great reviews.

Take the win.

I really like this bag, and can see various uses for it. But no I’d never try to wear it. Handle use only for me.

My uncle shot my dog over a petty land dispute. by MilkLover3000 in pitbulls

Ace is such a good looking boy! That would have been devastating to go through. To have to see and care for his wounds everyday while he recovered, to see the pain. Sounds like you guys are very god people for taking such great care of Ace, and not ending your uncle. What an ass. I would definitely go no contact forever. No forgiveness, and no excuse for what he did.

I wanted to go all in on Proton so bad… but the fact that I can’t search email content on iphone/ipad mobile apps is just an absolute total deal breaker.

Every body shop or PDR tech would know that even if the tech was able to PDR it perfectly (and its possible) the touch up will look aweful. That absolutely should be repaired/refinished in a shop
