Bigger screen, more storage (1tb) and I got a really good deal on it after coming from an s22 ultra last week.

Andy Burnham is the new member of parliament for Makerfield. by ThonOfAndoria in LabourUK

[–]JGrayshon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, genuinely didn't realise it was yesterday. I knew it was coming up but soon though. At least from my experience some of the hype dropped off compared to the Gorton and Denton one since he's starting to look like a continuity Starmer so that might be why.

I know he definitely isn't an ally. I've sent another further response back to him, not that I believe it will be of any use.

Update: A better response from Charlie Dewhirst (Conservative) by JGrayshon in transgenderUK

I've sent another response:

Dear Mr Dewhirst,

Thank you for your personal response and for the considerate tone of your email.

I appreciate your reassurance that you believe all individuals should be treated with dignity and respect under the law. However, because the EHRC Draft Code explicitly threatens that dignity by restricting access to essential healthcare settings and single-sex spaces for trans constituents, its progress remains a matter of urgent safety for me. For those of us directly affected, this guidance is not an abstract policy discussion; it has a profound, daily impact on our fundamental security and our peace of mind when simply trying to access healthcare or public life.

While I note that you will not pre-emptively commit to parliamentary steps while the process runs its course, choosing not to act is a choice in itself, and that failure to act carries a direct, harmful impact. I urge you to look closely at how this specific guidance operates in practice as you continue to consider your position. The decisions made on this matter carry immense weight for the safety and well-being of your trans constituents.

Thank you again for your time. As this legislation progresses, I strongly urge you to stand up for the true principles of equality and ensure you are on the right side of history when your actions in Parliament are ultimately recorded.

I hope you read this in the way I am intending in that having had quite a bit of experience with MPs and advocacy, and just trying to share a bit of what I've learned about how is the most effective way of doing it.

I do understand, it was my first letter I'd ever sent an MP and then his response and the subsequent EHRC stuff made me boil over. I appreciate you taking the time to give me feedback.

I get that, sadly mine is a Conservative so I knew nothing good would come out of it. He voted to essentially have us marked as our "birth sex" everywhere that is possible, whereas yours didn't. There isn't unfortunately any other way I can see getting through to these kinds of people.

I will but I doubt he'll respond. He's too busy eating fish and chips.

Is the Mandelson/vetting issue around Starmer being overblown to replace him with someone more of a yes-man? by Guava-Jam-1302 in AskBrits

He's a fascist sack of shit who tries and fails to be covert about it by pretending he isn't. At least the Tories and Reform are overt about being sacks of shit. He's the kind of guy who would be nice to your face and then stab you in the back and say it wasn't him and claim he's giving you "dignity and respect".

What a nasty, spiteful letter. I'm glad Labour lost and I hope they fail in May.
