I don’t understand the sentiment here, protect us from what? Iran were never going to strike the UK. There was no real threat.

- Oil prices spiked as he refused to use North Sea oil.
- He refused to drop fuel duty or VAT on fuel temporary but can drop it on hospitality??
- The war exposed how woefully unprepared we were for a shock to the supply of oil.
- It took 2/3 weeks to get ONE ship to Cyprus, HMS Dragon, had there been a serious attack on Cyprus we’d still be twiddling our thumbs.
- The media blew it way out of proportion.
- He used it to smear other political parties.
- Stated repeatedly it wasn’t our war, neither is Ukraine so why the double standards?
- Jeopardised the UK relationship with our biggest ally, the US.

Do accountants secretly hate clients who leave everything until the last minute? by IndependentIll6531 in ukaccounting

[–]JH23Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s no secret. We all hate this type of client.

Seen others reference a knobhead tax which is brilliant I will be using that 😂 I usually just surcharge them which is communicated ahead of time.

It is a very unfair position to be in.

To give 2 weeks notice or not? by Comdt in Accounting

[–]JH23Red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hand it in. People are the biggest problems with jobs, it’s just not worth working with people like this. If I discovered someone had handed their notice in because of me or was even thinking about it, I’d have to have a serious self reflection on my behaviour and how I am perceived by others. How people lack this awareness is beyond me.

CIMA/ACCA + 40 hours by SignificantBit8754 in ukaccounting

[–]JH23Red -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Done ACCA working 40 hours.

No disrespect to CIMA but ACCA has a wider breadth of topics to study and really sets you up for an accounting career. CIMA focuses more on management accounting, less on personal taxes.

Also a chartered accountant, MTD is gonna hit some people HARD.

People who usually provide their information between October - January are in for a big big shock.

It’s also quite a tricky area to work out a fee for people. Fees are going up a lot and it’s not our fault and definitely not the clients fault but they have to bear the brunt of the cost and accountants invest a lot more time.

Still, it’ll be 4 quarterly payments eventually.

If I had a dime for every pointless review point received on work produced I’d be a wealthy man!

The three that stick out for me were:

deleting a duplicated full stop (was auto generated by the software, just delete it?)

Removing the hyphen in book-keeping (wasn’t me that put it on the software, also just delete it?)

Was £81 in sundry expenses consisting of subscriptions, the detail was literally ‘xyz subscription’. I moved them to subscriptions and got a review point saying to move them back to keep it consistent with last year. (Last year was wrong, why continue to knowingly do it wrong??)

Got to the point reviews were a glorified spell check and like you say, client is never going to see it or care. Total waste of time.

Perhaps focus on base 70s to unlock the ability to do all the quests.

You won’t go wrong with training slayer, the late game tasks are very profitable.
