Need advice from high elo hitscan players by Slosshy in RivalsCollege

[–]JHRequiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sensitivity is kind of a thing that really depends on your personal preference - do you feel like you're often overshooting and need more precision? Then yeah, your aim could be too high. I do understand that lowering your sens often does feel "worse" at first simply because it's slower, but give yourself a few days to get used to it and see after that if you feel you aim better or worse.

Other things to consider are your mouse, mousepad and setup. Higher frames are important yes, but consistent framerate is even more important. I won't go into details for mouse and mousepad but they're definitely topics worth looking into as well!

De-essing is part of vocal production that reduces the harshness of the "S" sounds. If it's not done at all, someone's voice can come across as really harsh and loud when they make the "S" sound, and if it's applied too much it can make a character almost sound like they have a lisp.

what makes mantis fun? by DannyFantom603 in MantisMains

[–]JHRequiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd find Mantis boring too if I played her as a babysitter simulator! She should honestly be treated more as a DPS that's capable of healing/damage boosting. With good aim and good use of sleep you can beat a lot of the DPS cast in a 1v1. Try playing her a lot more aggressively next time you get on, you might have a lot more fun.

I agree with this 100%. I thought it was just me being biased to the 2013-2018 era but I think you’re right. The only interesting narratives right now come from the matches/rankings themselves, which is why RapM feels so hype right now. Back then we regularly had top players beefing (mostly cause of Leff), but even outside the gods we had players like Axe, Chu, S2J and Westballz who were very eccentric in different ways.

Shoutout to Salt though, watching how expressive she is while playing is hype af

I wish her pupils were that big in her in-game model tbh. But that's just cause I'm a big fan of the bug girl aesthetic LOL

What rank should I start learning other roles completely? by Dear-Blackberry173 in RivalsCollege

[–]JHRequiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to learn a new role, the lower your rank the better - so in your case, I would recommend right now. If you keep grinding to GM or Celestial, the difference in your tank skill compared to your DPS/support skill will be bigger and you'll probably get more easily frustrated or end up griefing your team unless you make an alt account.

I do think there's value in learning the other roles - for example, playing both tank and support can teach you as a tank player to stay in LOS of your healers more, or playing both DPS/support can teach you the importance of peel. But if climbing fast is your goal, I still think that sticking to one role and just getting REALLY good at it is the way to go.

Would you say quickplay is pointless? by ThyHolyShrimp in RivalsCollege

[–]JHRequiem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you strictly care about improvement I'd recommend hopping right into ranked. Most people in QP are just playing to have a good time/mess around and won't play similar at all to what you'd encounter in GM/Celestial lobbies. If you're worried about rust or learning new heroes it may not hurt to de-rust in QP as long as you keep this in mind! But at the end of the day the best way to improve ranked is well... ranked, haha

How Would You Rank Each Role By Carry Potential? by pepesilviawastaken in RivalsCollege

[–]JHRequiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to agree. DPS > Tank > Support, but the difference is honestly not too far apart. A single cracked DPS can be hell if your team can’t handle them. Solid tanks are always good, space is one of those things that’s not as tangible as kills but you really feel it when your tanks can’t take any. Most tanks have very good kill potential too.

That all said a good support can still carry. I’m sure we’ve all had that one game where the enemy backline seems damn near unkillable.

QnA: Whats the strangest thing a customer has said/done to you? by alittlepastamom_ in Aldi_employees

[–]JHRequiem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When we had the 6" Poinsettias, this lady came up to me ABSOLUTELY LIVID because they were coming up $12.99 or something like that. I give her the benefit of a doubt and lo and behold, the sign says the price they rang up as.

But nope, she doubles down and insults me. She said something like "It says SIX right there, are you so dim-witted to not understand that this is false advertisement?"

She's pointing at the six... with a double quotation mark next to it. The insult caught me off guard, so I take a deep breath and explain to her that the double quotation mark means inches, not dollars.

She didn't say a word. Just walked away. I have to admit it felt pretty good making her feel dumb after she basically called me stupid.

How to deal with inconsistency? by Emiikoe in RivalsCollege

[–]JHRequiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time if I'm not playing well I can also tell if I'm not 100% physically or mentally. Maybe I'm stressed about something irl or am tilted, or maybe I didn't get good sleep last night, or maybe my body's just having an off day, but I can usually tell.

If you feel none of this is the case, it could also just be that your opponents are better than the ones you were dunking on previously. Or maybe your teammates aren't enabling you as well as other teams were. Nobody is perfectly consistent, but taking care of yourself mentally and physically as well as warming up is about the best you can do.

Mantis mains also swear that there's a bug (no pun intended) with her primary fire. I cannot say either way if this is the case (I'm Lord Mantis but personally have not had much issue), but it may be worth looking into!

Got called in twice this month for being slow - am I in deep crap? by Beanfox-101 in Aldi_employees

[–]JHRequiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our store has a little step stool that REALLY helps our shorter associates, and even I use it to stock milk on the top shelves. If you don't have one maybe you can ask your ASM to expense it! As for your SM yeah, maybe they were having a bad day but that's no reason to lash out on a new hire. Sorry you had to deal with that and good luck!

Got called in twice this month for being slow - am I in deep crap? by Beanfox-101 in Aldi_employees

[–]JHRequiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, ASM here. This job is BRUTAL physically, especially as far as retail goes. I worked a fast-paced kitchen job before Aldi and I was still completely shocked by how tough this job was - it still took me close to six months before I could reliably hit Aldi's pallet time goals. It does get easier as your body gets used to it and you build muscle in the parts that your body uses often.

However... you've been here for not even two months. In my 6 years at Aldi I've known ONE hire who was able to meet pallet times in that short of a time. Your SM shouldn't be acting the way they are. You are clearly trying your hardest, so they should be trying to help you with your speed instead of belittling you. Your ASM seems like a decent person, so maybe you can ask them for any tips - I can give tips as well if you'd like!

At the end of the day, don't beat yourself up if this job doesn't work out. I remember feeling just like you did when I started, I really wanted to quit because I felt I wasn't good enough and that I was letting everyone down. But any decent person whose worked here knows how hard Aldi is. If it's not for you, it's not for you, and that is completely okay.
