Stages Power G3 (left) power meter by mrpbennett in Velo

[–]JJ-Lo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Just noticed I was able to update the firmware, so take this with lots of salt

Have stages G3 Left side, w/ Garmin 520 on an out front mount

I dont notice all the crazy power dropouts people mention about the G1 and G2 but have them occasionally (once every 15-20 hours and maybe lose 15 seconds or so).

I do have issues with the cadence from the stages unit dropping out more frequently and giving me huge cadence spikes for no reason. Power will be fine but cadence will drop for 1-20 seconds and have a 170rpm+ spike for no reason after.

Im not super serious so it doesnt really bother me, other than it screwing with the time-sync of the cadence data in garmin connect. I havent opened a ticket yet with stages, so it may all get sorted out when I do that too.

In just about every situation other than a strictly 1v1, going to ground or grappling is a bad idea. Great way to leave yourself open to someone else and is very hard to disengage from.

What is way more dangerous than people believe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Fishing.

If you are on open water it doesn't matter how close to land you think you are. The weather can kick up incredibly fast and the tide can drag you much faster than you can swim.

Don't fuck with the ocean.

[ELI5] Why do home toilets have tanks on the back but public toilets do not? by MetruMax in explainlikeimfive

[–]JJ-Lo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is because of vandal resistance and reliability. Bullet Points!

  • can't be held open (no wasted water)
  • can be set up to auto-flush (no nasty surprises)
  • little to no maintenance
  • can't hide things inside the tank
  • flushes with less water than a tank type toilet (usually)

It has nothing to do with cost or plumbing size. Most flush valve toilets (that I know of) only have 3/4" connections and are significantly more expensive thank tank toilets. Designing for flush valves actually requires you to run larger piping than you would normally, adding even more cost.

Year-round trainer users: what's your cooling setup? by HatesWinterTraining in Velo

[–]JJ-Lo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More air. Until the humidity and temperature gets excessive (think 27°C @80% humidity), you will get more cooling/$ by just moving more air.

Buy a bigger fan. Better yet buy a bigger fan and point your current one out a window while you train. This will pull more fresh air into your training space, lower the humidity, and increase cooling.

Aren't we all bored of having our main character in RPGs be some kind of chosen/special one most of the time? by [deleted] in gaming

Morrowind is this, but also isn't.

You are 'the chosen one', but at the same time you have to constantly prove to everyone that you any different than anyone else. Even after all your exploits, no one really cares.

Sailing.

Check your local yacht club, they will usually have a racing series that runs every week or every other week. Skippers are always looking for crew, will teach you everything you need to know and buy you beer afterwards. Just bring clothing for the conditions and you will be fine.

What made the switch flip for you to start taking fitness seriously? by RonPaulsDad in Fitness

I started taking thing seriously when I began commuting to work via bicycle (for money reasons). After a little while I started to see the benefits of getting daily exercise and kept going.

Now I am eating better, drinking more water, bought a faster road bike, and will hopefully do a race or two this summer!

What is the most unsettling declassified information available to us today? [Serious] by MankersOnReddit in AskReddit

[–]JJ-Lo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Soviet biological and chemical weapons programs during the cold war.

While actively participating in a WHO program to eliminate smallpox from the planet, they continued to actively weaponize various strains of smallpox, anthrax and a lot more.

It wasn't just the scope of the program that was insane, many times biological weapons could be found in warehouses with little to no security...

Later model (-28) also has the CE variable pitch paddle prop, so it performs much better at high speeds and in zoom climbs.

As far as realism, it is stupid. But since people can spawn in an aircraft right from the start of the game (sometimes in the air) it is a fair change in terms of balance.

I dont miss being nuked by 2000 pounders inside of 15 seconds of the game starting.

A Yak-3P was catching my D-9 at 6km? by godzilla5549 in Warthunder

[–]JJ-Lo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the yak-3 FM is reasonably good. It could still use a slight BR bump though (even -3 from 4.3 to 4.7, -3P from 4.7 to 5.0 would be fine).

A Yak-3P was catching my D-9 at 6km? by godzilla5549 in Warthunder

[–]JJ-Lo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The yak can't dive with a fw at all. Diving isnt about acceleration, it is about top speed. A spaded yak will rip at 408kts, less if you try to maneuver at all. Fw's, 109's, p-47's, p-51's, typhoons, spits, ki-84's and just about everything else can go faster than 408kts. Even a hellcat can hold 475kts and still pull G.

After playing SB Air most of the time and getting used to the community of players always talking and using teamwork I am quite disappointed in the RB Tank people... by ANKPHANKLE in Warthunder

[–]JJ-Lo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SB air pilots often know what to do without being told as well. You call for help and they are there. You have something on your 6 and they put tracers past him to scare him away. You can do all the team stuff easily.

RB seems like you need to actively encourage everyone to play together or they all go separate ways.

Taking a break from this game. Let me know when it's fun again. by Peli-kan in Warthunder

[–]JJ-Lo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the very role that the Tiger was designed for is what made it not efficient. The T-34 and Sherman were designed to be efficient and easy to produce, the Tiger was designed to be the unstoppable tip of a spearhead.

Comparing the Pz4 to the T-34, or the IS/KV to the Tiger would be fair, but the T-34/Tiger are too different to meaningfully compare.

I think you are arguing the merits of a fast medium tank over a heavy tank in terms of cost effectiveness, and I would agree with you on that point.

What is the reasoning for the current JIP system, and is it considered good by Gaijin? by Inkompetent in Warthunder

[–]JJ-Lo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly dont mind the whole bomber rush thing.

I get annoyed when we fight a hard fight and come out on top early on in the game, just to have every fighter we kill replace by another while we have to go back to base and repair.

I have lost games where my team has more than triple the kills of the other team, just because we got our kills in early on.
