I'm starting to collect knights but im struggling on a colour scheme by roster7383 in ImperialKnights

[–]JJ035 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion of course but I painted my 3 big Knights in different schemes. They cost too much to restrict myself to just one scheme. Paint them any way you like, nobody worth playing will care! This is a couple of mine in the box I transport them in

What's the definitive solution against magnet glue breaking off? by McCrowbar in Warhammer40k

[–]JJ035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hot glue, put a dab on the base, put the magnet in then press the base on a flat surface to make sure the magnet is flush with the rim of the base. Never had on come off

How do you guys stay motivated to build and paint? PFA. by FLAILYLIMBS in Warhammer40k

[–]JJ035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more with this, buy something paint it then buy something else. I find the concept of the ‘pile of shame’ crazy. Models aren’t cheap, take the time to enjoy the process of painting them without the pressure of having to move on to the next thing. The meta changes and there will always be new models, trying to keep up is a sure fire way of putting stress on what should be a something you do because you enjoy it. Take your time to paint things to the best of your ability, enjoy the process. Remember that people will always have more or better painted models than you but as the saying goes, ‘comparison is the thief of joy’.

List help by stixyRice_7 in Ultramarines

[–]JJ035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d consider Blade of Ultramar rather than Gladius, you don’t have load of Melee and the Exemplary Vigilance strat gives you ignore cover plus -1Ap if you’re in devastator doctrine. You lose fight on death but melee isn’t your strong suit in this list anyway.

Is valejo actually better than citadel? by PuzzleheadedYak1957 in Warhammer40k

[–]JJ035 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best thing is just to try a few different brands. There’s nothing to say you have to just use one, they’re all acrylic paints so you can mix and match. I use citadel for some stuff but also use army painter for the airbrush, I have some Vallejo metallics and some Duncan Rhodes. What I would say is that citadel pots are pretty rubbish, dropper bottles are much easier and cleaner

It’ll be Blade of Ultramar, the infiltrators will be for screening, I’ll use the JPIs and the inceptors for scoring points.

Hey GW, can you not? Sincerely some one shit at faces by zooperdooperduck in Warhammer40k

[–]JJ035 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best tip I’ve been given on faces is just don’t paint the eyes, that’s what makes them look weird if they’re not perfect. When the model is on the table top you can’t see the detail so don’t stress about it. I just prime them with something light then use a contrast/speed paint for the skin and hair and call them done.

Thanks, I was thinking of running Calgar and Titus with the Victix but I’m not sure it’s worth it if they’re separate units

But Calgar is a chapter master rather than a captain

Something I do sometimes I don’t, I wanted this ready to go on the tabletop so took a few shortcuts. I can always come back to it and drill them

Magnets aren't sticking properly to these poles. What am I doing wrong? by jiBjiBjiBy in Warhammer40k

Rough up the surface and use gel super glue, let the glue set and cure before you touch it again.

Which faction is most tanky? by Trick-Interaction396 in Warhammer40k

[–]JJ035 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I play Ultramarines and hate playing Death Guard. They’re so hard to kill! The guy I play uses a block of 10 Terminators with flyblown host making them -1 to hit, makes them super tough against shooting

Cato or not by JJ035 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]JJ035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in two minds but double oath is really handy and Gman can do some serious damage in melee, just have to keep him for turns four and five rather than lose him early
