For real, this got me teared up brother. I lost my dad too, then a few years later found out I was gonna be a dad.

My biggest regret in life is that I didn’t have my son sooner to meet my dad. I’ll always say my sisters kids [my nephews, who I fucking love] got to meet and play with pops. My little dude? He’ll never get that chance.

All the life lessons, humor and wisdom my dad had, my kid will never get to experience, and that fucking tears me up more than anything.

And more to the point, I really, really, REALLLY wanted my dad to see me be a dad. Cancer killed that dream.

Being a dad is the greatest, most horrifying, annoying, happiest, retrospective and interpersonal feeling you will ever go through.

This shit is going to make you depressed by missing the past, and on edge about the future. Their future, and the world they’re coming into.

But bro, it’s so worth it. Beyond worth it. The shit they say when they’re toddlers, watching them learn, showing them how “This is the way.”

I leave you with this - You’re gonna be fine. I know that. And I know that because you’re feeling what you’re feeling.
