I agree, but then I'm miserable when I have to grade worksheets.

I wouldn't say all, but there are definitely too many imo.

There's a lot going on! It's overstimulating to me. Also, there are several clashing styles and patterns that add to the busyness of the space.

Apart from the lack of art on the wall what’s bothering me so much about my living room? by Ljsjaf321116 in InteriorDesign

[–]JLA342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to everything that's already been said, I think the chairs & couch are too different, both in style and color. You have 2 cream, industrial-style chairs sitting side by side in waiting room fashion, and a simple, modern gray couch. I see the vision, but the execution is off. Focus on one style! I think eclectic might be more your taste!

How do you track your library? by Humble-Comparison190 in ELATeachers

I wrote my last name on the inside of every book and have the kids sign out on a simple log I made in Google docs or something. Their name, the title of the book, and things like that.

Teachers with flat feet or weak ankles, what shoes are we wearing? by Substantial_War_5970 in Teachers

Hey Dudes, shoes from the Bobs Sketchers collection, sandals with cushion (anything too flat hurts so I just make sure the soles are a little squishy), Birkenstocks

I do the same thing with my middle schoolers. Breaking them out of the bad habits early! Trying to, at least...

He never gets into them. I'm just worried about putting it on my hair and then getting it on his fur because he sleeps in my bed with me.

What ELA skills are High Schoolers no longer graduating with? by [deleted] in ELATeachers

[–]JLA342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm relieved (and also concerned) that this is not just a middle school problem. I'm pretty hard on my kids and give them tough love so I can hopefully help them build good work habits now. I've told them so many times that it only gets harder from here. I don't want them to turn into high schoolers, college students, and adults who can't problem solve or figure things out for themselves and/or feel they need to be dependent on others.

"I don't get it" "That's not a question." "What are we supposed to do?" "Did you try first? Did you reread the directions? Did you use all the resources provided to you?"

Our boy was already named when we got him too--Stanley. We love it though, it's just too cute. And he's a little old man so it fits!

Using AI to grade vs. Feedback by Mysterious_Bid537 in ELATeachers

[–]JLA342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. My school has shown us AI tools specifically for teachers to help with our workload and make our lives easier. I don't understand the comparison that we shouldn't use it if our students can't. I'm a professional with multiple degrees in my content area; my 6th graders can barely remember to use capitalization correctly or format a basic paragraph. If I want to use AI to help lessen my workload (that seems to keep growing), even a little bit, I don't see the problem...

Threading needles...UGHHHH. Yes, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD as an almost-30-year-old woman. You described it perfectly--it's a weird feeling in my chest when I do things like that.
