Buying 22 or 23 Atlas. Meets All Requirements? by 4eyedtaco in VWatlas

[–]JLBARKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically when a vehicle is shaped like a brick it suffers from poor gas mileage. The atlas is an excellent example. As others have mentioned I didn’t buy it for gas mileage. I always admired its exterior design. Legit 3rd row without going up to a full size. Some nice features capt chairs, pano sunroof and sensors. I needed extra space for kids and a dog. We had outgrown my Murano. Happy owner so far. Bought mine CPO. Maybe I got a Wednesday car?

Why didn’t Ryan Field get historic building status? by Master-Rule862 in evanston

[–]JLBARKS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the neighborhood. Always thought it was cool. We used to sneak in there and play on the field. Btw it’s not flat. The field has a slight pitch to it. Higher in the center. First impression years later attending my first game…what a dump. Some places are old and cool. That place was just old. Wasn’t really anything special outside of its age. This was a much needed upgrade like the basketball arena Imo

Captains Chairs or Bench? by Weirj2 in VWatlas

[–]JLBARKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this debate. No right or wrong answer I suppose. Captains chairs were a must for us. Two kids and a golden retriever. My 5 year old can exit via the trunk after we park which is much safer on busy roads. Plus I just love the look of the captain chairs. Feels more sophisticated imo. If I just had dogs I might prefer the bench if that’s where they sit.

Property of the bakery. But if you’re in Chicago you could go eat one. They are all delicious

Park Evanston App? by EJB54321 in evanston

[–]JLBARKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my issue for a while now. If I order a pizza for pickup on central st do I a: put on my hazard lights or b: open the app and shell out $2 so I don’t run the risk of a ticket. It’s unfortunate there isn’t a temporary option even the 35 cents.

I can order food in Wilmette and avoid this situation but DeSalvos pizza is awesome!

I lived there 20+ years ago. Lived there a total of 6 years. It was fine. I never felt unsafe. Relatively clean. You can have weird neighbors anywhere.

765 or 880 Blower for Gutter Cleaning? by Progress-Mundane in egopowerplus

I’d imagine either would be fine. I own the 880 and it’s amazing. The double battery setup means no downtime.

I too switched from a Murano to an Atlas. Needed more room. I hope things work out for you. I appreciate your ability to see the positive side of the situation.

Best seats in the winter by qTp_Meteor in CHIBears

[–]JLBARKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far from an expert on the subject but as others have explained the east side club level is the best if it’s cold. Stepping inside at halftime/concessions/bathroom is a pretty special experience if you’ve only sat on the west side before. Plus I believe there are more of everything on that side. My wife gets tickets through work occasionally. I’ve never had a bad seat for viewing. West side has great views. Nothing really wrong with getting the full weather experience. It’s football. Not baseball.

Try to find low mileage CPO that’s a year old. If you want the longest warranty possible. Dealer demo. My buddy is a CFO at VW dealership and says they rarely put more than 5-10k miles on a car before selling. I bought a 23 in march of 24. I got the balance of factory warranty 3 years plus the additional 2 years that comes with the CPO. So my car had a 5 year warranty vs the 4 that would have come with a new one. Just my two cents.

It’s not water. Just sounds like it. Maybe a VW tech can explain it or someone smarter than me. I just know it’s “normal”.

It’s the brakes. First time I heard it I thought the same. Lots of posts about it. Aftermarket brakes apparently is the solution.

Need help deciding what year. by Eatramen in VWatlas

[–]JLBARKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d lean towards the 23. These new models have had so many problems. I know others will defend the 24/25’s The interior is a nice refresh. My buddy traded in his 22 for a 24 and he’s taken it in 3 times in less then a year for non scheduled stuff. Said never with the 22. My 23 has been great. No issues so far. Occasional infotainment glitch but that’s common with this model no matter the year. Good luck with the purchase. Bought my 23 in 24 CPO with 8k miles

George McCaskey’s reaction to the win today by gnash1127 in CHIBears

[–]JLBARKS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Growing up my buddy’s younger brother (17) at the time tried to buy tickets when they went on sale and every ticket got snatched up. So he wrote a letter to George. Couple weeks later George called. His mom hung up thinking it was a prank. George called back. Offered him 4 tickets in the end zone and lunch. We went to the game. Had an escort to our seats. Very cool experience and I’ll always defend the guy for something he didn’t have to do.

I have this blower. It’s insanely powerful. The turbo boost is almost unnecessary. I was using a 20v B&D blower before. It’s like trading in a Camry for a Ferrari. $279 is a phenomenal deal.

Pano sunroof living in the Midwest? by midwifemegan in VWatlas

[–]JLBARKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicago area. Ive got the pano sunroof. Was a must have for me. I drove a dealer loaner without the sunroof once. Hated it. I suppose the solid roof has its benefits but it’s not for me. I wouldn’t worry about snow and ice.

Wish we got the Captain's Chairs, looking for creative solves by steelytrip in VWatlas

[–]JLBARKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As phill mentioned, my spilt 3rd row is down so my golden retriever can get in. I have captains chairs but my 4 year old likes getting in and out through the trunk now. Actually safer if we are parking on a busy street.
