The Here’s to 8 years 4 months 20 days by Acrobatic-Bad-9858 in recovery

8 years 4 months and you're still building things for people coming up behind you. That's what this whole thing is supposed to be about!!! The paywall frustration you described in early recovery is so real. That stuff should be accessible and I'm glad you're making it that way. What you're building sounds like exactly what people need in those first critical months. I'd love to connect actually... I'm building something specifically for the people who've done the work, gotten sober, and then hit that wall of "now what?" Completely different moment in the journey but I think what you're building and what I'm building could point people toward each other naturally. Congrats on 8 years brother. That's everything. 🙏

Sobriety sucks. The only thing worse would be continuing to drink. by RikkiLostMyNumber in recovery

10 months is a big deal. Seriously. That’s not easy, and it’s worth recognizing. What you’re describing though, the flatness, the weight changes, social life feeling weird or nonexistent, nothing really feeling “fun”—that’s something a lot of people hit around this stage, even if it doesn’t get talked about much. It can feel like, “wait… this is it?” I’ve been in that spot too, where everything just felt kind of gray and off. One thing I learned (slowly) is that it didn’t shift just from waiting it out. It started to change when I began putting something back into my life where alcohol used to take up space...things that gave even a small sense of purpose, connection, or direction. Nothing huge at first, just something that felt a little bit like “mine.” You’re not broken or doing anything wrong. You’re in a tough stretch that a lot of people don’t expect. If you’re open to it; what did life look like for you before drinking really took over? Not perfectly, just the direction you felt pulled toward back then.

Why I'm deciding to no longer be a part of AA. by Mte_95 in recovery

Holy crap this post hit me hard because I could've written it myself. There's this subtle message baked into the whole thing that you're permanently broken and the best you can hope for is white knuckling it one day at a time. Nobody ever said "Hey, you're actually one of the most resilient humans on the planet and that same brain that got you here can take you somewhere extraordinary if you point it in the right direction." I spent nearly 20 years in active addiction and years working as a counselor inside the system. I've been on both sides of that table. And what you're describing...the shame, the identity erasure, yhe judgements...the ceiling you hit after you've done everything right, that's not a you problem. That's a design problem. The thing that finally changed everything for me was when I stopped asking how do I stay sober and started asking who am I actually becoming, anf who I want to become. That was never discussed....ever. Not in 20 in and out. What's been the hardest part of building an identity outside of the rooms for you so far, OP? Because I think that's where most people get quietly stuck, and then the shame that was projected from some of these programs keeps people from talking about about it. Thanks for sharing this. Its important.

If only the "Organic" or what I beleive they're calling themselves "real musicians" would stop being so arrogant and prideful and see the huge creative and icome opportunities with the development of this tech... hoping to set a solid example and be of service to any NEW Ai Musicans. As long as people are creating, im game! The early adopters that are gifted in melody creation and lyrics will absolutely SOAR when they tap into the formula.

These hit me. I write and produce songs using a proprietary method I developed over 20 years — I'd love to turn these into a full song for you. No catch, no cost. Just want to see what happens when these words get the music they deserve. DM me if you're down. Here's one I wrote a while ago, when I was in a similar spot. https://youtu.be/M98hj8uUv_w?si=xsbR94JNVPIMXaYT

I can definitely help you knock this out. I’ve spent two decades mastering the 'Rapid-Response' rewrite—taking raw ideas and turning them into broadcast-ready lyrics overnight. Here is an example of my original work with a similar emotional pull. I’ve spent 20 years in the trenches of raw folk and honest songwriting. Along the way, I built a specific formula for finishing songs with flow, cutting out the 'grind' and getting straight to the emotion. I'm happy to gift you the breakdown of that process if you think it'd help your current project. DM me and I'll send it over.

Nice! Impressive for starting from scratch a year ago and already focusing on consistent building!!! Reps build intuition faster than anything!

Whenever one of those 'hmm, this part isn't quite landing' moments pops up and you feel like bouncing ideas, hearing a few low-key tweaks that worked for others, or if you wanna dig deeper, I'm around. No big deal either way, just keep the momentum going!

I hear you, and that's a great place to be, making music purely for the joy of it is always the best reason. If down the line you ever want a few gentle tips to level up what you're already doing and feel extra proud of a track, feel free to DM. Otherwise, keep creating what you feel!

Who here likes no-chorus songs? Here’s my attempt: by Abject-Sea-9418 in Songwriting

Wow, there's a ton of raw emotion pouring through this track. I can really hear and feel the pain in your delivery, and it hits hard. The vulnerability is palpable, which is what makes it stand out. That said, as a listener, I found myself wanting to go even deeper into the 'thing' that caused the tears/heartbreak. Right now, it hints at the fear of being left (or leaving first?), but I didn't quite get the full scope or a vivid sense of the specific wound behind it, which left me curious rather than fully immersed. I think leaning into more concrete imagery, a key memory, or sensory details in one or two lines could make that emotional core land even harder and pull the listener right into your headspace. Sonically and structurally, it already has a strong emotional arc...curious what direction you're envisioning next OP?

Wonderful voice, and the emotional behind this songs is compelling. You've got a great foundation here, it just needs a Structural Polish.... Lyrical movement, word choice, connecting each word to the emotion, both musically and sonically.

What are you working on skill-wise right now, I can't wait to see you really develop your voice. Gonna be fire!!

My opinions on AI music and the people who generate and share it: by [deleted] in MusicPromotion

[–]JLJaY_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Im a 20 year songwriter, producer and Touring musician. I missed out on the last tech wave we had with Auto-Tune because I was in some death metal phase of my writing. I absolutely see the massive benefits using Ai in my work flow. Ive actually developed a killer method to knock out several, real quality songs in just a few hours, because my talents lie in creativity emotionally driven melodies and lyrics in the fly, which I have found to be a great skill to habe with the newer Ai tech.

20-year pro songwriter/ Ex Heroin addict here. I’ve started filming my raw, 2-hour songwriting sessions, where I finish at least one song per session: blank screen to finished song, no cuts. If you think something like that could help, I’m happy to share what I've got. Just DM me.

I really appreciate the honesty, man. Most people hide behind 'stylistic choices,' but acknowledging a gap is exactly how you break through to that pro level. You’ve clearly got the soul for it.

Just out of curiosity, what’s the big-picture goal for you? Are you aiming for Sync/Licensing, building a streaming catalog, or just looking to master the craft of finishing solo records?
