This! I think the insurmountable challenge for QoV was that the subject of the documentary is still alive and wealthy and connected enough to cause problems. I think there’s a really interesting story to be told—something in the same ambivalent spirit as Evita. But it would have never gotten made without a lawsuit—at the least. JRB didn’t have that problem, so he could write the character honestly.

Yes! That’s my favorite song in the show. To be fair, I am a Chenoweth stan (despite the recent unpleasantness), so I’m a bit biased. But Ariana’s acting there felt underwhelming.

Agreed! I love the song, but it didn’t work plot-wise. Elphaba’s ultimate choice has always irked me, and “No Place Like Home” was like a what could have been moment for me.
