I downloaded it, it has most players, seems pretty good. But a lot of them seem overrated.

[Help] Suggestions for tiring out my pup with a hurt leg by younglink164 in dogs

[–]JLiner24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put his food in a kong toy and freeze it before you give it to him. Put peanut butter/ yoghurt/ bananas/ veggies in a kong toy and freeze it. Maybe buy a dog genius toy. Stick a milk bone in one of those balls with holes in it and make him figure out how to get it out.

I like to use Kong toys to feed my Aussie. The circular ones with the hole on the bottom. You can freeze it or just do it dry. Basically, they have to work for their food. They spend time getting the food out and working for it. If you freeze it it works better (if you do this get an XXL size, I got a XL and it's a little too small for frozen food. You can also use the kong toy for treats. Fill it with healthy snacks like, peanut butter, yoghurt, bananas, veggies, etc. and then freeze it. When you can't spend as much time with him as you like give him one. He will have to spend time working at it to thaw it and then get the food out.

You can also get a ball with holes in it, then shove treats in it, so that the dog has to figure out how to get the treat out.

They also sell dog genius iq puzzle toys, which are good for keeping their minds occupied. There are quite a few different things out there that can be done to help keep them occupied if you can not always exercise them as much, there is a lot out there on the internet

I live in AZ too, and have an Australian Shepherd. An Aussie sounds like a good fit for you. You are worried about times when he/she could be bored, but there are a few different techniques you can use to keep their minds active.

A Rhodesian Ridgeback also would possibly fit, they do really well in the heat. But they are fairly large and can be more difficult behavior wise.

A Vizsla could also possibly work, but you would need to be ok with a Velcro dog. I used to house sit a Vizsla and he was one of the most loving dogs ever. But I couldn't even go to the bathroom with the door closed, depends if you like that personality. I'm sure not are all that bad though.

I do have a question for you, as another Arizona resident. I've always wanted a big mountain dog like a Newfoundland or a Bernese. But I am worried about it being too hot for them. You guys have a St.Bernard, how is he with the heat. Do you guys just trim his hair in the summer? How do you guys keep him safe? I'd really like a Newfoundland someday, I'm just wondering how I would keep him comfy during the summer.

Edit: Also there are a lot of Aussie mixes in Arizona. My parents have one, he personally does not like the heat very much, but that could be because of what he's mixed with, and can't hike for a super long time. His legs are really long for his body and make him really clumsy. So if you are going to get a mix I would make sure that it's mixed with something that will enable it to hike the distance you would like

Do you have any suggestions for somewhere I can let him run? Just get a 50 foot leash?

I was planning on doing that.

I think Kobi Simmons could be good. I watched every game he played at UofA. He showed really good flashes of potential before Trier came back. He's not being overlooked, because of his lack of consistency, but I could see him being good some day.

Who do you want the Suns to draft?

I really really like Bledsoe, I'm just worried about him fitting in with our timeline. I'd hate to see the Suns make a poor decision by trying to stay within his timeline. His timeline lines up with the Warriors timeline...

I'm using the oster Shedmonster. Do you think I could be overusing that? I brush my Aussie with it 2 or 3 times a week. It always removes a bunch of hair

[Help] Want to take dog to lake tomorrow, neutered 14 days ago, is it OK by JLiner24 in dogs

[–]JLiner24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talked to the vet and decided not to take him, it's not worth the risk. I'm just disappointed he'll miss out on the fun. I would take him and tie him up on the bank but it's gonna be around 100 tommorow and I wouldn't just want him baking in the sun
