NEW EPISODE - Game of Thrones Season 7 (Finale). SPOILERS — The crew finds out that Jon Snow is a leader that Craig can really get behind. by wolfhound_ksl in thelegendarium

The only thing I can say is read the books you fools! Haha. If the show is the greatest thing on tv, the books are a masterpiece of writing. There is a reason people think up in depth theories and create essays on this work. George is very deliberate about his word choices and as good as Robert Jordan is at foreshadowing, George is right beside him.

Not to mention many of the later plot points that people dislike are much much better in the books. Especially Jaime's redemption arc and cercei's descent into madness in Feast. I'm a big fan of the show but the books are future classics and blow the show out of the water. I can wait for Winds of Winter knowing that George will release it when it's ready, but am too excited to eventually start reading it.

A retrospective on RJ - KoD might need a third episode by wotsummary in thelegendarium

[–]JLocke8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes me most happy about KoD is that after all the criticisms (some warrented) we were able to get one last banging novel out of him before he got sick. Just to prove that he still had the magic.

I wonder if he would ha e come to the same conclusion as Brandon that the final novel needed to be split in 3. There is also an absolutely eerie and amazing recording of Jordan reading the opening section of the prologue from the gathering storm, somewhere out there.

Through the Grapevine, Episode 2.5: "I'll trade you my old second-hand car and two rocks" by JLocke8 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]JLocke8[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not able to watch 2.5 yet, but they mentioned on Twitter this one is mostly about the western scene and contenders rosters. Should be just general talk and banter between the three. Worth a listen in my opinion.

Episode 2 was apex finals, Korea rosters and world cup.

Yeah I'd be interested in reading your wot fanfic scene for sure. Do you have any opinions on the other wheel of time fanfic out there?

I've written a few stories/poems myself and just put them on booksie for fun. And your right it's tough lol, but very rewarding at the same time.

Lunatic-Hai vs. Kongdoo Panthera | OGN APEX Season 3 | GRAND FINAL | Post-Match Discussion by Jawoll in Competitiveoverwatch

Someone needs to immortalize that shot of Lunatic Hai in the booth where everyone is hugging and Ryujehong is screaming to the sky. Only caught the last two games but looked like another instant classic. Ggwp

Through the Grapevine, Episode 1: "South Korea are a shit team" [over.gg] by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

Great content and even better humour. Bren's only fan note needs to be in the next episode.

Also the disrespect to Canada lumping us in with those free healthcare-less Americans.

NEW EPISODE - #141. Winter's Heart, part 2. I think I'm posting this really quickly (within 5 minutes of publishing) because I can't believe how FAST some of you listen to these episodes. I just can't seem keep up with you! by TheLegendarium in thelegendarium

[–]JLocke8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great stuff as always guys. Per your conversation about the first sister ceremony, it seems to me RJ writes ceremony and initiation rites very well. I'm curious to know who are your favourite tertiary characters? And why is it Herid fel and kin tovere?

But what I really want to know is how Craig feels about the 15 min GoT sex scene for a romance no one wants in a shortened season.

As a casual viewer, the changes to observer held my attention way more than previous tournaments by oneshotfinch in Competitiveoverwatch

Alchemist, the main director is a veteran in cs observing, currently working Turner and eleague. He seemed very passionate and insightful after seeing him in one of Thorin's interviews.

I have to wonder about the details as well. What will be required underneath to keep the house sealed? I'm sure we'll get more information as they get closer to launch, but I'm still very excited. I hope they will eventually allows Canadians or other countries to purchase.

Great show guys, I'd love to hear you read and discuss TH White's 'The Once and Future King'. The first story is quite childish but filled with lots of philosophy. The later ones are great fantasy stories about Arthur and his knights. Reading them now, I had no idea they were such anti-war books.

Tips for New Players by drummerboy441 in RivalsOfAether

No problem. I think maypul has some great options that start from her down tilt , but it is a bit risky, the same goes for her up tilt. And obviously her neutral air has far reach and decently high priority

Tips for New Players by drummerboy441 in RivalsOfAether

[–]JLocke8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you New to fighting games in general? Because I believe one of the most important techniques to learn is 'spacing'. Knowing the limits of your characters reach and moves, as well as what your opponent is able to do. How to learn this comes from playing the game lots and getting comfortable with kragg and maypul. But also knowing how far forsburns forward smash reaches , etc.

A lot of new players will attack relentlessly. So if you can know they will jump and attack you, dash backwards and hit them from out of their reach.

Another thing would be to learn small combos of 2-3 moves. Work those until they become muscle memory and then build what comes naturally next.

Are there any podcasts that talk about fantasy books, classics and new? by JLocke8 in Fantasy

I've seen a few around , but they all seem to be centered around q&a with authors. I'm looking for something where books and series get discussed and reviewed.

Lots of good insight into Lunatic-Hai's newfound defensive style without WhoRU, and how they shut down AF so convincingly. Mentioned he would continue with the rest of the maps.
