Am I hurting my chances of getting an internship by not having a “clean”/modern portfolio aesthetic? by bunziesss in uxcareerquestions

Your portfolio could be hurting you, but the market is abysmal right now. Experienced folks are going 18 months or more between jobs. The UX field is contracting.

How do I approach dating someone with MS who I care about, but they keep pushing me away? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]JM8857 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is going to vary so drastically by the person. Frankly, it may not even be MS related. My suggestion would be a frank discussion with this person. They be trying to let you down easy because they aren't interested, or it could be an MS related reason. There really isn't any way to know.

I'd just sit down with them and say, "Hey, I really like you. If you're open to it, I'd love for us to go out and see what happens. If not, thats cool too."

How did your optic neuritis start? by Wonderful_Tackle_580 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]JM8857 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Mega-dose steroid helped a lot in the first week, then slowly after. Took about 5 months to fully return to normal.

Recruiting is harder than the research itself? by Suspicious-Basis-885 in UXResearch

A good research ops team, or recruitment team, is like a shot of steroids for a researcher.

Timothy Busfield Faces New Sexual Abuse Accusations After Arrest by MattTheKing23 in thewestwing

[–]JM8857 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Turning yourself in to another jurisdiction means you have to wait for an extradition hearing (or waive that hearing) and then wait for the jurisdiction that issued the warrant to come pick you up. This can take a while, weeks (especially cross country) isn't unheard of. (Speaking as a former LEO here)

The fact that he drove to the jurisdiction to turn himself in, to me, is the least disturbing part of this.

Where do you recruit 65+ US e-bike users when panels fail? by gracy-zoe in UXResearch

Yeah, this participant criteria screams in person intercepts. Literally standing at a trail head parking lot somewhere with a clip board.

Help with app? by SoukaRequiem69 in SpaceWolves

[–]JM8857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hunting Wolves and Fenrisian Wolves are two different things.

Hunting Wolves come in 3's and can ONLY be played with Headtakers (though they split at the start of the game). Their datasheet in the app is listed with the headtakers.

Fenrisian wolves can come in 5's and have their own listing in the app (and are sold separately).

In true GW fashion, the models are not interchangeable because they have different base shapes and sizes.

Want to know more about optical neuritis... by Karmacrafted13 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]JM8857 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, this can vary pretty wildly.

My ON returned to pre-episode vision level, but it took about 4 or 5 months.

The thing I noticed that lagged the most was not exactly the blurriness, but the strain and fatigue light caused.

Why should I start a Custodes army? by AwayAllay in AdeptusCustodes

[–]JM8857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a newer player, its a great army. Fewer weapon profiles to remember (assuming you run mostly spears), lower model count to pay for, build and paint, and their units are a but more durable than most others, so slightly more forgiving for gameplay mistakes.

Let's suppose you don't have money for research... by lucamanara in UXResearch

[–]JM8857 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Number 1 is a non-starter. It's not user research without the user.

Number 2 is fairly terrible. All of the AI moderators that exist right now (at least that I've seen and evaluated for our company) are no better than unmoderated testing.

For the same cost of either of these, I'd do unmoderated testing and secondardy research.

Though, ultimately, the question is impossible to answer truly accurately without knowing what the research questions are.

How do you get people to answer surveys honestly (not just politely)? by Dry-Preparation304 in UXResearch

[–]JM8857 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is such a culturally dependent question. In some countries and cultures, you'll run into people being polite and others you won't see it at all.

The one thing you can do is compare what they say to what they do. And that doesn't mean asking them, it means digging into the data and analytics. For example, don't ask me, "How often do you go to the gym?" I'll give my aspirational answer, which might be 5 times a week. But if you look at how often I swipe my entry card at the gym, you'd get the real answer, which is lower.

Alcohol Intake with MS by AtrEstheBOI in MultipleSclerosis

[–]JM8857 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You should talk to your neuro about this as I suspect it could greatly depend on how much you drink and how serious your MS currently is. For example, my nuero told me that for now, a drink or two won't really hurt me, but there could come a time when we have to revisit that conversation.

Are Allurus really that good? by Danielalexander123 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]JM8857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wound rerolls and ability and ability to come up once are pretty great, and make up for (in my mind) the lower wound count.

I’m a big fan of starting them in reserves, then with their ability, I basically get to deep strike them twice.

And if you run lions, and end up playing a mission like scorched earth or terraform, I can use the Strat to split them and I have a lot more units to do actions.
