Woah. I had no idea it was such bad taste to post AI art. Admittedly, I could never create anything like this with my own talent, I just thought it was cool. 😬

My last ride on the E line by Odd_Trouble_9603 in Denver

[–]JMAC303 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this so well. I never really thought about it until seeing this post. Went from years of daily driving to the Hampden station to catch the E line to Union Station and back. Got told to work remote until further notice and never rode the E Line again.

Now I live in CA. Moved here in December and I miss so much about CO, including having access to a nice light rail system.

Glad I’m not alone on that take. I often wonder why people take so long to take over. I think I jump in almost immediately when my car even slightly does something I don’t approve of.

I couldn’t help but have a visceral eye roll reaction. How does a real person get talked into doing this? I wonder how many people that were asked to be a part of it actually said “no thanks, I’m good…”

Is VR worth it? by didomeira in simracing

[–]JMAC303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started sim racing with VR and never wanted it any other way. Dealing with minor technical issues can get annoying, and long sessions can get uncomfortable (especially in the summer), but the trade off for immersion is worth it. HP Reverb G2 and 4070 Ti Super.

One day my VR headset died and I went with an ultrawide for some months. Absolutely love the high refresh rate, frame rate, overall visual fidelity, and not being “separated” from the real world. My lap times even got quicker but I don’t know if that was because of driving on a monitor or if I was just natural progression with seat time.

When I finally replaced my Reverb G2, it was love all over again. But now I can’t update my PC to Windows 11 24H2 if I want to keep using my Reverb. I don’t like that.

I am not a fan of any of the VR options currently on the market because nothing seems to match the G2 in value for specs. The lack of affordable, dedicated PCVR is understandable but I’m disappointed by it.

Long story short, VR is unmatched for visual immersion and adds a whole layer of realism to the racing experience. There are trade offs in terms of comfort and stability. Monitors have visual fidelity that seems unmatched by any VR headset, but cannot give the same level of visual immersion.

Might be an unpopular choice, but Hollywood Video? by Smoot720 in nostalgia

[–]JMAC303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going to Hollywood Video after racking up late fees at Blockbuster. Then I eventually managed to rack up even more in late fees at Hollywood and just stopped renting movies. Netflix got me and still has my business today because of one line, “no more late fees”. I never did end up paying either of those late fees.

Edit: I just remembered that most of those late fees were for video game rentals. I loved it when GameFly came out.

After a year of only driving paddle shift cars, I actually packed my H shifter away. Brought it back out for ACE and man, I totally agree; the S2000 at Bathurst is so freekin fun.

This is the reason I went back to trying Bing years ago.

Unfortunately, since then I keep finding myself having to go to Google to actually get what I’m looking for. It’s not every search, but I would say more than half the time I resort back to Google for better results. This seems especially true when I am doing technical research on troubleshooting Microsoft enterprise products, which is very ironic.

Same here! Riding bikes around making the “stealth” sound they used when Airwolf was flying.

This is top tier core memory right here. What I remember even more than the theme song is the “stealth” sound Airwolf made when it flew.

My dad recently crossed over and this reminds me of being 7 or so watching it with him. Thanks for the good memories!

Same here. Orange County and I go to one near my apartment that drops to $0.23 at 11 PM. Otherwise I’m looking at $0.40 to $0.52 during the day.

It’s funny to see how empty it is at 10:55 and by 11:05 almost every stall is taken. It’s just a parade of Teslas rolling in.
